Chapter 14 - Episode 12 : The bond of dawn

Dawn broke over the Phoenix Realm.

Golden light spilled across the fractured chamber, illuminating the scars left behind—cracked stone, faded symbols, and the quiet aftermath of power that should never have awakened.

The elders were already gathered.

No one spoke.

They didn't need to.

The decision had been waiting for this moment.

Qianfan Arrives

Footsteps echoed softly.

Qianfan stepped into the chamber.

His movements were slower than usual, but steady.

The faint white-gold glow flickered beneath his skin—subtle… controlled… but undeniably present.

Shaoyang followed behind him.

Close.

Not touching this time.

But not far either.

The Verdict

Elder Shen stepped forward.

Elder Shen: "We have reached a decision."

Silence deepened.

Qianfan didn't ask.

He already knew.

Elder Shen: "The sealing formation will not be used."

Shaoyang exhaled sharply— But

Elder Shen: "Instead… we will proceed with anchoring."

The words landed heavier than before.

Qianfan's jaw tightened.

Shaoyang didn't look away.

Elder Han stepped forward.

Her gaze rested on both of them.

Elder Han: "This is not a solution without cost."

A pause.

Elder Han: "Once the bond is formed, your lives will be tied together."

She looked at Shaoyang.

Elder Han: "Your strength will stabilize him."

Then at Qianfan—

Elder Han: "And his existence will anchor yours."

Elder Liang added, voice low—

Elder Liang: "If one falls… the other follows."

Elder Shen: "You may refuse."

His gaze sharpened.

Elder Shen: "If either of you hesitates… we end this now and proceed with sealing."

The chamber went still.

All eyes turned.

First—to Qianfan.

Qianfan's Choice

He closed his eyes briefly.

Memories flickered—

Pain. Isolation. Silence.

Being nothing.

Being unwanted.

Then—he wanders whose memories was that but decides to ignore

A voice.

"You won't face it alone."

His eyes opened.

Qianfan: "I accept."

Shaoyang didn't hesitate.

Shaoyang: "So do I."

Feng Hua's voice cut through sharply—

Feng Hua: "No."

She stepped forward, anger barely restrained.

Feng Hua: "You don't understand what you're agreeing to!"

Shaoyang turned, calm but firm.

Shaoyang: "I do."

Feng Hua: "This is not bravery—it's recklessness!"

A pause.

Then—

Shaoyang: "Maybe."

Her gaze softened slightly.

Shaoyang: "But I'd rather choose it… than regret doing nothing."

Feng Hua fell silent.

Not convinced.

But able to stop her.

Elder Han raised her hand.

Spiritual energy spread across the chamber—soft, controlled, ancient.

Symbols along the cracked floor flickered back to life.

A formation.

Different from before.

Not restrictive.

Not violent.

But binding.

Elder Han: "Stand within the circle."

Qianfan and Shaoyang stepped forward.

Opposite each other.

The space between them hummed.

The Moment before

For the first time—

They hesitated.

Not from fear.

But from understanding.

Qianfan spoke first.

Quiet.

Qianfan: "You can still walk away."

Shaoyang tilted her head slightly.

Shaoyang: "You first."

A faint, almost invisible smile touched Qianfan's lips.

Gone in an instant.

Elder Han's voice echoed—

Elder Han: "Begin."

Light surged.

The formation activated.

A stream of white-gold energy burst from Qianfan—

Wild—

Violent—

Unstable—

Shaoyang stepped forward—

Without flinching.

The moment the energy reached her—

It changed.

Not suppressed.

Not sealed.

Balanced.

A second light ignited from her core—bright, steady, unwavering.

The two forces collided—

Then intertwined.

Inside the Bond

For a moment—

The world disappeared.

Qianfan stood in darkness.

Endless.

Cold.

Then—

A flame appeared.

Not destructive.

Not overwhelming.

Warm.

Steady.

Shaoyang's voice echoed—

Shaoyang: "Hey."

Qianfan looked up.

She stood there.

Untouched by the darkness.

Unmoved by the pressure.

Shaoyang: "This is your power?"

He didn't answer.

She stepped closer.

Shaoyang: "Then stop running from it."

A pause.

Shaoyang: "It's not the only thing inside you."

Something shifted.

The darkness trembled.

Reality Cracks

Outside—

The formation trembled violently.

Elder Liang frowned.

Elder Liang: "The energy is spiking—"

Elder Shen's voice cut in—

Elder Shen: "Hold the formation!"

Cracks spread across the glowing circle.

The balance—Was breaking

Inside—Qianfan clenched his fists.

The power surged again.

Wild , Uncontrolled

But this time He didn't push it away

He reached for it.

Fusion

The darkness shattered.

Light erupted.

Not chaotic, not destructive, controlled but the seal in him is still not broken.

Outside—

The energy stabilized instantly.

The violent storm—

Collapsed into silence the bond was complete

The light faded the formation dimmed

Qianfan and Shaoyang stood still a faint mark glowing on both their wrists , they have successful bonded.

Breathing in sync alive

Elder Han exhaled slowly.

Elder Han: "…It worked."

Elder Liang remained silent watching , calculating his gaze hardened slightly and he said

Elder Shen: "For now."

Qianfan lifted his hand.

The white-gold energy flickered again but this time it obeyed not perfectly not completely but enough. He looked at Shaoyang and something unusual stirred in his heart ( he's falling for her)

Shadow approaches him

Moon Lotus Clan

A disciple burst into the hall, breathless.

Disciple: "Clan Head—!"

Chen Hai didn't turn.

Disciple: "We found a trace of him."

Chen Hai: "Where?"

The disciple spilled it with fear

Disciple: "Phoenix Realm."

A pause then he smiled slow and dangerous

Chen Hai: "So…"

His eyes darkened.

Chen Hai: "He didn't crawl back."

A quiet laugh followed.

Chen Hai: "Good."

His voice dropped—Cold as death.

Chen Hai: "Then I'll go get him myself."

The Phoenix realm

The Phoenix Realm gates trembled as a cold, unfamiliar presence pressed through the barrier. Flames along the path dimmed as the figure stepped in, his aura quiet but suffocating. The guards hesitated, exchanging uncertain glances, but none dared move.

Inside the main hall, the elders had already gathered.

Feng Muyu stood at the front, composed as ever. Feng Hua beside him, eyes sharp. Shaoyang lingered just behind them—Qianfan at her side.Still, Calm unaware of what was about to walk in footsteps echoed

Chen Hai entered without haste, his gaze sweeping the hall before settling—precisely—on Qianfan. A faint smile formed.

Chen Hai: "I am looking for someone."

Feng Muyu's voice came steady.

Feng Muyu: "State your purpose clearly."

Chen Hai didn't look at him.

Chen Hai: "A boy."

A brief silence passed. The elders exchanged looks—subtle, questioning.

No recognition.

Chen Hai took another step.

Chen Hai: "He belongs to my clan."

Shaoyang frowned slightly, glancing at Qianfan.

Shaoyang (low): "Do you know him?"

Qianfan shook his head slowly.

Qianfan: "No…"

His voice was quiet. Certain.

Chen Hai's smile didn't fade.

Chen Hai: "Have you forgotten discipline already?"

Qianfan's brows knit faintly. The words meant nothing—and yet…

Something in his chest tightened.

Uncomfortable.

Feng Hua shifted slightly, placing herself just a fraction ahead of Qianfan.

Feng Hua: "Do you know him"

Chen Hai's eyes finally moved from Qianfan to her.

Measuring.

Then back again.

Chen Hai stepped closer.

Qianfan didn't move—but his shoulders tensed.

A strange unease crept in.

Unfamiliar.

Unwanted.

Chen Hai stopped in front of him close enough now too close

Chen Hai: "You've been away longer than expected."

Qianfan's fingers twitched.

A faint whisper brushed the edge of his mind

"…worthless…"

He flinched.

Barely noticeable shaoyang caught it.

Shaoyang: "Qianfan…?" She called out

But no response came through from him

His gaze stayed forward—but something in it had shifted not fear, just discomfort

Chen Hai lifted his hand calm, Casual

And placed it on Qianfan's shoulder.

Everything stopped qianfan's breath caught.

A flicker—

Cold ground beneath his knees.

A voice—

"Stand properly."

His fingers curled slightly.

Qianfan: "…stop…"

It came out faint.

Uncertain.

Chen Hai didn't react.

Chen Hai: "You were not taught to speak like that."

Another flicker—

Laughter.

"Look at him—he won't even fight back."

Qianfan's breathing became uneven.

Shaoyang stepped closer, gripping his sleeve.

Shaoyang: "Hey—look at me."

He couldn't.

His eyes had gone distant.

Feng Muyu's voice cut in, calm but firm.

Feng Muyu: "Remove your hand."

Chen Hai ignored him.

Chen Hai: "Have you forgotten your place?"

A sharper flash—

Pain.

A body hitting stone.

"Kneel."

Qianfan's knees weakened slightly.

His vision blurred.

His chest tightened—

Not understanding why.

Not yet.

Qianfan (shaking): "I… don't…"

His voice broke.

Shaoyang's grip tightened.

Shaoyang: "What's wrong with you?"

No answer.

Only breathing—

Too fast now.

Too shallow.

Chen Hai's hand pressed slightly firmer.

And something inside Qianfan—snapped

Blood on stone.

Silence forced.

"You only exist because I allow it."

Qianfan staggered back suddenly, tearing away from the touch.

His hands flew to his head.

Qianfan: "Ah—!"

The sound cracked through the hall.

Everyone froze.

His breathing turned frantic.

Uncontrolled.

His eyes widened—but not at the room.

At something else only he could see his memory is back

Shaoyang stepped in front of him instantly.

Shaoyang: "Qianfan!"

He didn't respond.

His body trembled.

Shoulders shaking.

Like he couldn't hold himself together.

Feng Hua moved forward and tap qianfan on the shoulder while calling out his name

Feng hua: Qianfan( 3times )

But he wasn't responding completely lost , traumatized and scared .

She noticed that ( this child is completely traumatized and scared) and then looked at Chen Hai with complete disdain her presence rising sharply as she forcefully remove Chen Hai hands from qianfan .

Feng Hua: "That's enough."

Feng Muyu stepped beside her, voice low and absolute.

Feng Muyu: "You will not touch him again."

Chen Hai finally looked at them.

Then back at Qianfan watching not confused

and not suspicious just observing

Chen Hai: "It seems he remembers how to behave."

A faint smile.

Chen Hai: "Good.

Behind Shaoyang, Qianfan took another step back.

Then another.

Unsteady you His hands lowered slowly from his head—but they were still shaking.

His gaze stayed down.

Avoiding.

Breathing uneven.

Shaoyang glanced back at him, her expression tightening.

Shaoyang (low): "Why are you scared of him…?"

BNo answer.

Only silence.

Only the quiet, broken rhythm of his breath.

One of the elders spoke under their breath.

Elderly : "Who is that man…?

Another voice followed

Elder Liang: "And why would the boy react like that?"

Feng Muyu didn't take his eyes off Chen Hai.

Feng Muyu: I don't want to know who you are but you are not touching him again neither taking him

A pause.

Feng Muyu: "You will leave."

Chen Hai's gaze lingered on Qianfan a moment longer.

Taking in the trembling.

The lowered head.

The silence.

Then—

He turned.

Not resisted.

Not forced.

Just… finished.

Chen Hai: "I will return."

A slight pause.

His voice dropped.

Chen Hai: "Next time… I won't ask."

He walked out the same way he came.

Cold, Unhurried, Unchallenged. The moment he was gone—The pressure in the hall lifted.

But no one moved immediately.

All eyes turned— To Qianfan, Still shaking.

Still silent.

Still unable to look up.

Shaoyang stepped closer, more careful this time.

Shaoyang (soft): "Qianfan…"

He flinched, Just slightly.

Like even her voice had to reach through something heavy.

She hesitated.

Then asked quietly—

Shaoyang: "Who… was that?"

No answer came.

Only a long, uneven breath.

And a silence that said far more than words ever could.
