It was just a day like any other, or so I thought. I was working in the only department store in my hometown at the register. One customer walks up, just like any other, or wait, no, she's not like any other. I happen to be an empath, so I can always sense other's emotions and intentions. This woman, seemed very curious up till the point where she got within 10 feet of me. At that point her emotions became like a storm. At the eye of the storm seemed to be love & lust.
Somehow I knew that I could connect to her with my mind.
Me: 'You are some sort of supernatural creature aren't you?'
I have read many books about werebeasts, merfolk, fay, vampires, angels, and other mythical creatures. I know how they tend to have deity given mates and suspect due to the draw I feel towards her and this deep connection I have that I've never had with anyone that I'm supposed to be hers. Oh, yeah, and how she seems to feel about me plays into that theory to.
Her: 'Wait, how are you able to mind-link with me with ought us having cemented the bond? And aren't you human?'
Her saying that seemed like a confirmation on both fronts.
Me: 'Yes I'm human, however I'm also an empath, I suspect that's the reason for us being able to connect like this.'
All the while I was scanning all the various goods she was attempting to purchase.
Her: 'Did you know of supernaturals or only suspect?'
Me: 'I only suspected, I've read many fictional accounts, with no clue which ones may be true and which ones are definitively false.'
Her: 'So does that mean you understand what mates are?'
Me: 'In concept, yes, however, as you should know, humans don't commonly have such.'
Her: 'Yes, with the rare exception to when they are with our kind... so … if I were to say that you are my mate…?'
Me: 'I already expected such. I feel your feelings towards me and a draw as well as deep connection to you, so I see no reason to doubt such. However, having been raised among humans I wish to get to know you rather than just jump into a sexual relationship.'
Her: 'That's understandable, as long as you are willing to get to know me, I'm happy. Can you come with me after ringing us up?'
Me: 'Let me finish my shift, I get off in 30 minutes… then I'll let those I live with know I'll be staying somewhere else tonight, and I'll be willing to.'
Sensing her emotions I knew she held no ill intent towards me, and if anything would give her life to protect me, not that I'd want her to, us barely knowing each-other and all.
She left after they paid, 30 minuets later I got off and met them outside whilst I was texting my mother letting her know that I'd be spending the night with a friend. I do live with my parents and grandmother after all.
Her: 'Are you alright with me bringing you to my pack?'
Me: 'Sure, I know you won't let anything happen to me.'
I smile with my response & she blushes due to it. I realize we haven't even gotten each-other's names.
Me: 'Fudge, we haven't gotten each other's names… I'm Josh Long, what's your name?'
Her: 'Oops, I'm Alpha Susanne Fox'
We both end up snickering a little due to that exchange, other's smirking realizing that we just had in inside joke between us.
Me: 'Does that mean you are a fox shifter, the last name Fox?'
Susanne: 'Ironically, no. I am Alpha Queen of the Wolfs.'
I laugh and one of the others in the car with us pipe up.
P1: "What are you two linking about?"
I am the one to reply.
Me: "We were exchanging names and found out about her being a wolf with the last name fox."
The other one in the car picks up from there, there being 4 of us.
P2: "Yeah, as long as they feel comfortable enough to do so in her presence, most laugh about that the first time they hear it."
Gesturing at each of them Susanne introduces them.
Susanne: "This is my beta Bethany Linx and her mate Samual Linx. Bethany is a wolf shifter and Samual is a fey."
Me: "Who had that last name fitst?"
Bethany(P2): "I did, got a problem with that?"
I can easily tell, without needing to rely on my empathy, that she is only messing with me, so I laugh while replying.
Me: "Nope, just thought it was funnier a wolf with Linx as a last name than a wolf with Fox as a last name."
Susanne: "I concur, I mean, that is why I keep her around, just to make people laugh at her instead of me."
Susanne said that while laughing also. We all ended up laughing at that.
We continued chatting and getting to know each other on our way to the pack. When we arrived at the pack I saw 1 buff man on either side of the road. No gate, no fence, seemingly no barrier, just the two men standing there.
Me: 'If you don't mind my asking, why were you buying things where I work?'
Susanne: 'I was told by a fey with a prophetic gift that I needed to buy items from that store at that time, and would not give me a reason. I have learned to trust her, as the few times I did not do as she said something terrible happened.'
Me: 'I'm guessing that this time the terrible thing would be never having met me? … Also, I'd like to meat this fey.'
Susanne blushes at the first part of my comment, then composes herself before her reply still smiling.
Susanne: 'That could be easily arranged… I bet she'll be waiting for us to give you a prophecy when we arrive.'
I also have a prophetic gift, which is why I enjoy meeting others with such. After Susanne's statement I sense that the fey will in fact be waiting, with shock written on her features, not having expected me at all, and not being able to see my future.
Me: 'You are half right.'
Susanne looks at me questioningly.
Me: 'You'll understand shortly, we're here right?'
Susanne: 'oh, yeah, we are.'
I get out as soon as she pulls over then go around and get her door, helping her from her seat. Where are hands touch there are proverbial sparks. When I turn around an old woman is standing there with a shocked expression on her face. Stuttering Susanne speaks.
Susanne: "W..Why d...do y...you have su~uch annn expression? I~I've never s~seen you with such b~before?"
Woman: "I knew whatever good fortune you received you'd bring back, however I never expected it to be a man who defies fate."
Me: "What do you mean 'defies fate'?"
Woman: "I can't see your future, and the future of all who deal with you seems much more uncertain which of many paths it will take?"
Me: "So you have that issue too, I have yet to meet anyone who could see my future, including myself."
Susanne: 'You are prophetic?'
Me: 'Yes, try to keep up.'
I stick out my tongue at Susanne then compose myself and continue. Susanne rolling her eyes.
Me: "My empathy and prophesy gifts combined tend to make it hard for any future to be clear, however my empathy has never steered me wrong when it comes to people."
Woman: "Wait, you are unmated yet can mind link with each other?"
Susanne: "Yes, Try to keep up Maryanne."
Susanne says that glancing while I stifle a laugh. Maryanne rolls her eyes.
Maryanne: "Well, I have never heard of that, however gifts such as yours for empathy are extremely rare, so I suppose that also has something to do with it."
At this point some man comes up, obviously trying to intimidate me. Susanne is about to step in when I gesture for her to let me handle it. She looks at me with concerned eyes but lets me handle it.
Man: "Who are you and what are you doing so close to my fiance?"
Me: "I'm sorry to tell you, but I am not close to your fiance, I'm only close to my mate."
I use my empathic gift to put pressure on the man.
Me: "So I ask you, who are you and why are you worried about a man being with his mate?"
All around me look at me with shocked expressions, but only the man says anything.
Man: "I...I am sorry my king, I only wished to protect our queen from any harm… I didn't realize that she'd found her mate. My name is Brutice and I have no issue with mates being together my liege."
I release the pressure.
Me: "I believe we both know she needs no man to protect her, but even if she did, she has her Beta's mate right here. So you should know your place."
I see a smirk from Susanne and nods of affirmation from the others with exception to Brutice.
Brutice: "You are right, I have no excuse."
Me: "As long as you don't let it happen again all is forgiven. You probably only acted that way because you believe me to be an ordinary week human. After what you've felt, I bet you have reconsidered your view of me."
Brutice: "Thank you sir, you are right."
Me: "Be on your way then."
After that Brutice left. As soon as I knew for sure he was out of earshot I burst out laughing.
Maryanne: "I need not see the future to know you will do well in the position of king. This demonstration was plenty for all of us to know that."
Susanne: "Agreed, but how did you do that? Your pressure rivaled my own, and you haven't even been mated to me yet."
Me: "To be honest, that isn't even a tenth of my true strength. I just hold it in most of the time because most people couldn't handle it, and because I learned to conceal it so I could sneak around without people noticing me."
Samual(P1): "Yeah, right… Prove it."
Me: "Which part, the concealing or the strength."
Samual: "The latter"
I turn to Susanne and Bethany.
Me: "Is it fine if I use my aura to knock him out, letting him eat his words? I won't cause any more harm than that, I know how to hold back just enough not to."
They look at each other, then at me and both nod. I then put so much pressure on Samual that he passes out, Bethany catching him so he does not get injured.
Bethany: "I think he'll believe almost anything you say now. He knows when to admit when he's wrong."
Me: "Yeah, I could sense that, and figured as much. I also could see that the only way to convince him of some things would be to let him experience them himself."
Susanne: "True that!"
After all that transpired we went on to tour the pack house. I would have thought the queen would live in a castle, but Susanne seemed to prefer living just like every other pack, even though hers was the largest and ruled the others.

In the years we spent together I learned that she became the first royal Alpha ever, and the first female alpha to be respected by all other alphas. After deciding to stay with her I quit my job, suggesting someone I knew would work as hard as I did for them to hire in my stead. I was crowned King Luna and helped her do many reformations throughout the wolf world. And we had 3 pups, the youngest of which was born with incredible power, to an extent whereas I could not see their future at all, nor could Maryanne. However we did learn of a prophecy that seemed to talk of my youngest.
The 3rd child of the man who can't be seen and the great alpha queen shall become the Alpha to unite all the races under one rule. They shall bring about a time of great peace and prosperity.
As it stands now humans know not of our kind, nor of any so-called mythical creature that actually exists. The ones that do exist are as follows:
Werewolves Vampires (Don't need blood, blood only serves to extend their lives, without it they live as long as humans) Dragons (who can shape shift into humans) Fey (Can not tell falsehoods, each have their own unique gifts) Witches and Warlocks (same species, just what a female vs a male is called) Soothsayers (a creature that sees the future, says only truth, but will only help if they are getting more out of it than you are, and are tricksters by nature.)
None of these creatures usually live with the others, the only exception is the uncommon occurrences whereas their mate is of one of the other groups, then one of them will move in with the other. So I guess my youngest will one day change that, I just wonder if that includes humans or not?
