Chapter 123 - Two Suns

In the sky above the city, Ang-Streum gritted his teeth as he forcefully kept an explosion, probably equivalent to that of fifty nukes exploding simultaneously, contained in the sphere.

His crystal glowed brightly…brighter than normal, as he kept funneling more mana into the spell, repairing all cracks as they appeared. After doing this for a while, he started bleeding lightly from his nose, ears and eyes.

Seeing his struggle, Samuel quickly flew behind Ang-Streum and placed his clawed hand on his back. He then closed his eyes and after a few seconds, a faint draconic aura surrounded his entire body.

The draconic aura started slowly entering Ang-Streum's body in small quantities, supplementing his mana. With its high volatility, too much draconic mana in a non dragon body could cause an implosion...hence the small quantity being transferred to Ang-Streum.

Samuel's draconic mana boosted Ang-Streum's mana ten fold, restoring his reserves and reducing the immense pressure the spell was having on his body.

With the strong boost in his mana, Ang-Streum increased the size and strength of the sphere, enhancing it once again. The still brightly burning explosion of anti-matter showed no sign of reducing, rather, it looked like it only grew in intensity as the seconds ticked on, trying to spread out only to be restricted by the enhanced sphere.

..............

With the initial explosion clearing the clouds in the sky, the light of the explosion reached all the way down to the ground.

The citizens who were trying to evacuate could not help but look up curiously. The sight shocked them. As it was close to three pm, the sun was supposed to be close enough to the horizon and they could very well see it, but above them was a second sun.

Shock was clear on their faces as they had no idea of what phenomena was happening at the moment. They were both dumbfounded and amazed at the magical spectacle. The very thought of evacuating had long been overtaken by their current curiosity and they stood observing the phenomenon.

.................

"Thank you for your assistance", Ang-Streum said to Samuel who kept on slowly funneling draconic mana into him bit by bit to help sustain the sphere without straining Ang-Streum too much.

"Don't worry about it. I'm happy we succeeded in containing it", Samuel replied before he tapped on his comm with his free hand.

"Hey Doc., how do we dispose of this thing?" Samuel asked the doctor who observed from the mountain lab.

"Unfortunately, we are not out of the woods yet. It seems after his initial attack failed, Mamon decided to fire of a hundred more", Dr. Michelson informed them with a strained look, shocking the two.

Glancing at Ang-Streum after a second of contemplation, Samuel gave a sudden sinister smirk. "I believe I know where to put this", Samuel said to him. "Of course…we need to return it after all", Ang-Streum replied with a smile of his own.

"Let's do this", Samuel said as he increased the amount of draconic mana being funneled into Ang-Streum, causing his crystal to glow brighter than before. Feeling the enhanced boost, Ang-Streum gritted his teeth as he closed his eyes and focused on the sphere.

After a few seconds, he opened his eyes and shouted, "Treguna-Trokorum-Setis-Dekoides!!". The sphere glowed brightly and the next moment, shot off into the sky with the speed of light. It shot past the clouds and flew out of the planet's atmosphere, following the original path of the two missiles travelling at ten times the speed of the missiles.

"Please increase the mana", Ang-Streum requested of Samuel as he closed his eyes in preparation to cast another spell. "Are you sure your body can handle it", Samuel asked. "I can take it. please do it!" Ang-Streum assured. Samuel nodded and poured more of his mana into Ang-Streum whose body trembled in pain.

Anthony groaned in pain and gritted his teeth as he raised his hands towards the sky; his crystal glowing at its brightest. "Tospringe-Taribus!!" he shouted and a bright beam of blue light fired from his hands towards the sky.

The beam travelled out of the Earth's atmosphere until it collided with a major satellite. Upon colliding with the satellite, the light split apart into several thousand beams, each beam targeting another satellite consecutively.

The beams linked the thousands of satellites currently swarming around the planet until the entire planet was surrounded by a bright elaborate energy net. After the net was formed, the strands slowly expanded until the entire planet was surrounded by a sphere made up of the blue light.

"Waiting is the worst part", Anthony said as they braced themselves, the sphere travelling through the vacuum of space quickly approaching the wave of missiles.

................

A few hundred thousand miles behind the wave of missiles, a massive armada was currently stationary, observing their second attack after the first surprisingly failed. This had never happened before in their many years of conquest.

"Sitting on a large rock-like throne in the control room of a large F-Class Destroyer, Emperor Erxanaim Xravion, popularly known by the moniker of Mamon…the demon of Greed, gazed at the screen showing the wave of missiles speeding towards the blue planet in the distance.

The eternal scowl on his face scrunched up even more after his first attack had failed for the first time in his conquest and he had angrily and impulsively ordered the launch of several hundred of them. He watched and waited, already resigning himself to losing the planet as a whole to the disintegrating inferno to come.

The planet supposedly had a lot of resources as well as billions of sentient creatures that could be made into their slaves. Destroying it would be a really big loss for him but it was too late now.

Even so, in order to kill the Nebulaxian monarch who managed to escape him, as well as whoever disgraced his pride as an absolute conqueror, he was willing to make that sacrifice.

As they observed the wave of missiles steadily approaching the planet, an alarm suddenly went off. "My Lord Emperor, there is an object flying this way as well. It seems the planet is returning fire", the warrior in charge of scans suddenly announced.

"Enhance the screen. I want to see what it is", Mamon instructed and the screen before him zoomed in until a clear image of a glowing sphere was revealed.

"Is that what I think it is? That spineless sack of shit…he is really testing my patience. Open a wormhole behind us and order a retreat right now!!" Mamon shouted after figuring out what was happening.

"My Lord Emperor, what is happening? Why are we ordering a retreat. These creatures are no match for our might. There is nothing they could throw at us that can surpass the might of our weapons", Prince Arsenaim Xravion, Mamon's first son as well as his right-hand man observed and enquired of his father.

"You fool! That only matters when they are not firing our own missiles back at us. Order the retreat now! When they make contact, we could be caught up in the blast as well!!" Mamon shouted in reply causing the prince's eyes to open wide in realization.

The space behind the armada cracked as a wormhole slowly opened up. "Wormhole is opening my Lord!" another one of the warriors on the controls announced.

"Good! Now…all ships full retreat!! Activate travel drives and get us the hell out of here now!!" Mamon commanded loudly.

"Yes, Lord Xravion!!" the warriors all shouted as all the ships in the armada hummed to life, preparing to escape through warping.
