Minutes earlier, with Team Ro;

After separating from Team Shi, Team Ro walked slowly and carefully through their assigned path until they reached what looked like an underground living quarters. As they entered the place, they hid in the shadows, observing their surroundings to gauge how big it was and who was in it. With no sensor of Ryuu's caliber in their team, Team Ro didn't know for certain how many individuals were in the living quarters; they silently accounted for all they had sighted in these quarters before starting to isolate and dispose of them one by one, silently and without making noise.

As they were briefed, they took down the cultist by decapitating them and keeping them quiet. And as they did that, they observed that the cultist died immediately after being decapitated, making them have some assumptions about the mission details and its parameters.

That aside, they continued to follow the same system of isolation and disposability, making everything seem to be going smoothly.

As they decapitated another cultist, a sudden sound from somewhere in the living quarters made them look away from their target and check their surroundings.

That was a mistake.

Just a moment after they looked away, a voice shouted from beside their feet.

"Who the fuck are Y'all???!!!"

Inu threw a Kunai on reflex that cut through the air before impaling itself in the brain of the decapitated head of their last target.

That, however, much to their shock, seemed not to be enough as Team Ro's eyes widened as they saw the same head shout again.

"Seiji. Get your ass and the others here, there are intru..."

The still-alive head got its mouth silenced by Tenzo, who used a Kunai to pierce the side of the head's mouth and jammed the Kunai down its throat, making it go quiet, but the head itself was still alive as its eyes looked at Team Ro with open malice and anger.

That, however, was too little too late

Thud x99

The sound of opening doors and hurried footsteps appeared throughout the living quarters, with the footsteps coming closer and closer to Team Ro's location.

Team Ro took out their Kunai, short blades, and got ready for combat. This wasn't good. They are fighting an unknown number of individuals with still not fully known abilities in a closed space.

A minute later;

Thud x40

Swoosh x30

Clang x10

The sounds of fighting and metal sounded through the living quarters as the cultists fought Team Ro.

It wasn't an easy fight by any measure. While the cultists were trained with the strongest of them around chunin level, which wouldn't have been a problem at all for Team Ro.

The problem was that the only way to effectively kill them was to decapitate them. They would just brush off any other injury, no matter where it was. It was annoying and bothersome to deal with. But at least they didn't stay alive, like the one who blew their cover.

Speaking of him, Inu, while fighting a cultist, caught a glimpse of the decapitated but alive cultist being helped by two others to put his body back together.

He attempted to rush there to intervene, only to be stopped when a second cultist engaged him.

As Inu engaged them, his eyes scanned for who was the nearest to the two cultists helping the third.

"Neko," Inu shouted, making Neko, who had her short sword locked with a cultist's scythe, look at him.

Inu silently nudged with his head towards the three cultists, making Neko look in their direction, making her eyes widen behind her mask, before looking back at Inu and giving a quick, subtle nod as she took out multiple kunai and shuriken and threw them at the three cultists to disrupt what they were doing before reengaging with the cultist in front of her.

Konoha-Ryū Oborozukiyo (Leaf-Style Hazy Moon Night)

Neko gripped her short sword tightly and formed a circular motion with the blade around her, facing the cultist in front of her. The way she formed the motion led to the formation of many afterimages of her sword, startling and confusing her opponent, which gave her a chance to leap towards him at incredible speed and decapitate him without him knowing which afterimage was the real sword.

Neko didn't look back at the fallen opponent, instead looking at the three cultists only to see that her earlier attack did next to nothing as one of the cultists had used his body as a meat shield to receive all of the incoming projectiles, while he and his partner finally reattached the decapitated head of the alive but earlier decapitated cultist back onto his body.

Seeing this, Neko didn't hesitate before leaping towards them with her blade drawn and ready.

Konoha-Ryū Mikazuki no Mai (Leaf-Style Dance of the Three Days' Moon)

As Neko reached her targets, her Katana blurred as she struck with immense speed and precision, aiming three strikes at her target's necks. One hit true on the cultist with the kunai and shuriken embedded in his body, severing his neck from his body and killing him instantly. The second cultist raised his left arm at the last moment, saving his neck at the cost of his arm, which was cut horizontally in half before being blown off due to the force of the strike.

The cultist with the reattached head was also able to dodge at the last second to save himself from getting decapitated again, but got hit on his shoulder with the strike, cutting him horizontally through his shoulder and the upper part of his chest, falling short of reaching the other side.

Neko panted slightly as she looked at her two alive opponents as they bled heavily from their wounds, staining their clothes with more blood, while a lot fell on the ground.

"Seiji. Distract her while I prepare. She proved herself to be a worthy sacrifice." The cultist with the reattached head said with a sickening grin, not bothered by the gruesome wound on the upper part of his body, which was visibly healing.

"As you wish, Nagisa-sama," Seiji said with a similar expression, not bothered by his arm that was blown off, leaving a still bleeding stump that wasn't healing.

To be continued.
