As Jiraiya looked back at his plate, his eyes caught a glimpse of something familiar and nostalgic.
"Is that?" Jiraiya said with surprise in his voice as he put down his plate before standing up and going to pick up his point of interest.
"How did you get this?" Jiraiya asked Naruto as he held up the novel book
"I found it in Dad's study. I picked it up and began reading it today. Pretty good so far." Naruto said
"You like it, huh. You know you are named after the main character of the novel." Jiraiya said
"I know. It is pretty obvious." Naruto replied
"It is too bad it didn't sell well," Jiraiya said sadly
"Really?" Naruto asked
"Yeah, it was my first novel and didn't do well, unlike my later novels," Jiraiya said with a perverted smile.
"You wrote other books?" Naruto asked slightly intrigued.
"Yeah, Th..." Jiraiya's enthusiasm and excitement were halted by a sudden sensation of intense pain in his leg. He looked down only to see Tsunade pinching his leg so hard as if she wanted to take a chunk out.
"No, no. I am still working on new books. There are definitely no other books in the market yet." Jiraiya said quickly, making Tsunade let go of his leg with a frightening warning look.
Naruto looked at the interaction suspiciously but let it go. He still has to finish reading his novel. Maybe in the end, he wouldn't like it that much to read others written by Jiraiya.
"Tsunade-sama, are we staying here for long after the end of the Chunin exams?" Anko asked, making Tsunade look at her.
"Well, at first we were going to leave tomorrow. But since you are injured, we are leaving when you are well enough to travel. So, in two or three more days." Tsunade replied
"Naruto of Konoha?" A Kumo Kunoichi called from the infirmary door, making all the room occupants turn towards him.
"Yes?" Naruto answered
"The final match is going to start soon, be ready." The Kunoichi said before leaving.
"Guess it is time," Naruto muttered as he started to collect his things.
"Can I come and watch?" Anko asked with slight hope. But that hope was crushed immediately.
"No/ Absoulutly not." Naruto and Tsunade replied simultaneously
"Damn guys, you didn't even entertain the idea," Anko said with a pout
"Your wounds may be closed, but you are still weak and not fully healed. We already have to stay here longer than we have to. No need for adding more days to our stay if something happens to you." Tsunade said.
"Rest well, Anko, and after the match ends, I will tell you all about it," Naruto said as he started to walk towards the infirmary exit along with Tsunade and Jiraiya.
"Make sure that you win Naruto," Anko called out
"Of course," Naruto replied with a confident smile as he left the infirmary along with the two sannin.
The walk towards the arena ground entrance was silent until the group reached the entry border. They could hear the murmurs of excitement from the crowd where they stood.
"Take care of yourself, Naruto," Tsunade said
"I will," Naruto replied as he entered the arena grounds
"Good luck, brat," Jiraiya said, to which he received a wave from Naruto.
A few moments later, in the Kage booth;
The silence was broken when Bee returned to stand behind his brother, and a couple of seconds later, Tsunade and Jiraiya entered and stood behind Hiruzen.
"How are they?" Hiruzen asked
"Naruto is fine, and Anko is healing nicely," Tsunade replied
"That is good. Looks like they are about to start." Hiruzen said, looking down into the middle of the arena.
"I think no matter the outcome of the match, those two are Chunin material. What do you think?" Hiruzen said while giving A a side glance.
"Agreed." A replied simply
In the middle of the arena;
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the final match of the chunin exams. This is what you all have been waiting for." Isamu said, making a round of cheers erupt from the crowd.
"On one side, we have Naruto of Konoha, and on the other side, there is Yugito of Kumo. Two talented shinobi, facing each other after the trials of the chunin exams. The victor of the match will be named the winner of the Chunin exams." Isamu announced, drawing more cheers from the audience.
"Without further ado, are you both ready?" Isamu asked, to which he got a nod from the two genin
"Final match of the Chunin exams. Hajime." Isamu announced
With the start of the match, Naruto and Yugito dashed towards each other, getting locked into a Taijutsu showdown.
"May the better shinobi win, Naruto," Yugito said between strikes
"Show me what you got, Yugito," Naruto replied in return as the exchange intensified.
In the Stands;
Mabui and Samui's eyes locked on the ongoing match as they sat next to each other among the crowd. Since the final match was between the last two participants, the participants' booth had been closed.
"What do you think the outcome would be?" Mabui asked Samui without looking at her
"It is hard to tell. We know for sure that Yugito has a lot more to show add to that her Nibi chakra. But at the same time, I know that Naruto definitely didn't show everything he has." Samui replied
"I am excited to see what both of them are going to show," Mabui said
"Me too. It is going to be a cool match. I feel it." Samui said with her eyes not leaving the match down below.
