Chapter 740: Condensing Sovereign Holy Water
"Splash… splash…"
Deep within the Universe Spirit Pool.
A colossal figure of light sat silently in meditation as the viscous jade liquid around it flowed slowly, surging unceasingly toward its form.
Above its head, a pitch-black vortex spun, radiating demonic flame, demonic lightning, demonic ice, and other elemental powers that refined the incoming jade slurry before devouring it entirely.
As more and more of the Spirit Pool's essence was refined, a strange power began to emanate from the giant figure, making the Sovereign Demon Body increasingly solid and fearsome.
This Sovereign Law Body was, naturally, Lin Langtian's Sovereign Demon Body.
Within it, Lin Langtian sat cross-legged. His tightly closed eyes slowly opened.
He gazed at the Sovereign Demon Body encasing him and sensed its steadily growing strength.
But… his brows furrowed slightly. This improvement still fell short of his expectations.
As for condensing Sovereign Holy Water, the goal was still a long way off.
"The Spirit Pool power absorbed here simply isn't enough to form Sovereign Holy Water."
With a thoughtful look, Lin Langtian acknowledged that, while the energy at this depth was indeed immense, it was clearly insufficient for forging Sovereign Holy Water.
His eyes flickered, then drifted downward, toward the still deeper parts of the Universe Spirit Pool.
The depths remained shrouded in darkness, with no hint of a bottom—an oppressive void that stirred instinctive dread.
Since entering the Spirit Pool, Lin Langtian had gained a clear sense of just how terrifying its pressure truly was.
Without the protection of his Sovereign Demon Body, even with his Second Grade Sovereign strength, he would never have withstood it.
Yet with the chance to forge Sovereign Holy Water right before him, there was no way Lin Langtian would retreat halfway.
Resolute, he formed a swift series of seals.
In response, the Sovereign Demon Body shuddered and then resumed its descent toward the Pool's depths.
Splash!
The massive Law Body ripped through the thick jade waters as waves of demonic power pulsed outward, resisting the pressure pounding in from every direction.
One hundred meters… two hundred…
In the span of just a few breaths, Lin Langtian had descended another three to four hundred meters.
By now, he was roughly thirteen to fourteen hundred meters deep.
With every bit of progress, he felt the pressure around him multiply several times over.
It was like being buried under one mountain after another, the weight stacking endlessly.
Still, Lin Langtian did not hesitate. He dove even deeper.
The demonic radiance around the Sovereign Demon Body dimmed as the surrounding force crushed inward, forcing the light back into its core.
Even nestled within the Law Body, Lin Langtian could feel a faint prickling pain across his own flesh.
"Sixteen hundred meters…"
His skin flushed red and began to crack, blood seeping from countless tiny wounds—a clear sign of the crushing pressure at this depth.
Not enough.
Even so, Lin Langtian's expression remained steady. A firm, unyielding light flashed in his eyes as he urged the Sovereign Demon Body to continue its descent.
At this depth, every additional ten meters brought a terrifying increase in pressure.
Even with the Sovereign Demon Body, his speed slowed to a crawl, like someone wading into a bottomless mire.
But such obstacles meant little to Lin Langtian. He had not clawed his way out of a lower plane by giving up easily.
Even if he had to descend inch by inch, he would not take a single step back. Blood dripped slowly from his reddened skin as it continued to split open.
The sticky jade water parted under brute force as the Sovereign Demon Body kept sinking.
Another hundred meters… one hundred and fifty… two hundred…
…
Outside Spirit Pool Peak.
The crowd's collective gaze remained fixed on the five floating talismans, though the three Elders wore only bored expressions.
The Spirit Pool had been opened many times over the years, and they had seen this sort of routine display far too often to be moved.
In their eyes, anything short of producing Sovereign Holy Water was hardly worth mention.
Hum!
But as they watched absentmindedly, one of the talismans suddenly flared into dazzling brilliance.
Its light expanded outward until it resembled a blazing fireball.
A wave of surprise swept through the watching crowd, followed quickly by shocked cries of recognition.
They all knew what such brilliance meant.
Someone was plunging toward the deepest reaches of the Spirit Pool—and had already passed fifteen hundred meters.
The three Elders' eyes snapped to the talisman at once.
"Someone is driving into the depths of the Universe Spirit Pool," the Third Elder said, startled.
"With that level of radiance, they must be nearing two thousand meters," the Second Elder added, equally astonished.
He was all too familiar with the pressure at that depth.
Even a Fourth Grade Sovereign would struggle to withstand what lay at two thousand meters.
None of the current five had reached that level.
"Who could it be?"
All three wore stunned expressions as possibilities flashed through their minds. The Great Elder's eyes gleamed with a private guess.
"Hehe, whoever it is has quite the ambition," the Third Elder said with a small smile.
Clearly, this person was aiming to forge Sovereign Holy Water.
And in all the years since the Universe Sect's decline, those who had done so could be counted on one hand.
"Let's hope their reach doesn't exceed their grasp," the Second Elder murmured, eyes narrowing.
"Regardless, it has been a long time since we've seen this. Let's find out whether this attempt ends in disappointment—or in surprise," the Great Elder said, smiling faintly as he fixed his gaze on the blazing talisman.
Below, Mu Honglian stared nervously at the radiant symbol, then whispered to Jiang Yinlan, "Elder Sister Yinlan, do you think that might be Lin Langtian?"
After all, he had defeated Dong Kui and was easily the strongest of the five. Though only a Second Grade Sovereign, he was the only one who might dare such depths.
Jiang Yinlan's beautiful eyes lingered on the glowing talisman, a thoughtful look softening her frosty features. She slowly shook her head. "I can't be sure. But somehow, I have a feeling it might be him."
Her tone was uncertain, but her gaze was not.
Among the five, Luo Lin and the others were strong, but not enough to reach two thousand meters.
Only the enigmatic Lin Langtian concealed enough hidden cards to make such a feat possible.
"Let's see just how far you can go, mysterious man…" Jiang Yinlan murmured, the corners of her red lips curling slightly.
Under countless watching eyes, the talisman's light burned ever brighter.
Half an hour later, it shone like a second sun.
Its radiance completely drowned out the remaining four talismans.
Shock rippled through the crowd once more.
The Elders' expressions shifted from mild interest to deep concentration and astonishment.
Hum!
A low hum rose from within the talisman.
Then, as though it could no longer bear the strain, it erupted in a pillar of light that washed across a hundred kilometers.
The three Elders stiffened, their pupils constricting violently.
Whoever it was had truly reached two thousand meters.
While the world reeled at the talisman's brilliance, a strange ripple stirred within the deepest part of the Universe Spirit Pool.
At a depth of two thousand meters.
Splash, splash!
Where silence should have reigned, the waters instead surged like a storm-tossed sea.
The viscous jade liquid roared as it spiraled into a colossal whirlpool.
At its center, a single figure sat in stillness.
It was the Sovereign Demon Body, and within it, Lin Langtian.
His body quivered faintly, a thin shell of dried blood caking his skin.
At two thousand meters, the Spirit Pool's pressure had seeped through the Sovereign Demon Body itself and hammered directly against his flesh.
Were it not for the Dragon-Kun Body and its extreme physical might, he would have been crushed into paste long ago.
Even so, the agony gnawing at his body left his expression taut, his teeth clenched.
"Exhale…"
Beneath the blood, Lin Langtian let out a slow breath, then shut his eyes and carefully formed a new set of seals.
Boom!
The Sovereign Demon Body suddenly blazed with demonic radiance.
Demonic lightning, flame, and ice flooded outward, drawing in the Spirit Pool's strange, majestic power and swallowing it whole.
Driven to the limit, the Sovereign Demon Body dragged torrents of jade energy into itself without pause.
Under such relentless consumption, a peculiar new force quietly began to take shape within it.
After an unknown span of time, Lin Langtian finally opened his eyes.
At that same moment, the Sovereign Demon Body's massive jaw opened, and a streak of jade light drifted out.
As the light dispersed, a single droplet of jade liquid appeared, floating serenely at the bottom of the pool.
It glowed softly, exuding a delicate fragrance that soothed the mind. Even Lin Langtian's pain seemed to fade.
The instant he saw that jade drop, joy flashed in his eyes.
"Sovereign Holy Water."
