Moonlight Pack
Luna Rosa and Rina had come back from the meeting.
"Hey mother, how did the meeting go?" Rafaele asked.
Rafaele, Jax and Rain were in the kitchen eating sandwiches.
"How else do you think it would go, Luna Tyra would try to bully your mom and as usual she would announce she is hosting the regional werewolf meeting" Jax said with a chuckle.
"Is that how it went mom?" Rafaele asked.
"Not this time, Rita didn't allow her to bully me, she put Luna Tyra and her haughty daughter in place." Luna Tyra replied.
"Haughty daughter? do you mean Nani?" Jax asked.
"Yes, ever since the failed engagement thing, she and her mother have made it clear they do not care for me. But things were different, not only did Rita stand up for me, she also challenged Luna Tyra on the hosting."
"She did?" Rain asked looking at Rina in admiration.
"Yes and all the lunas voted for us to host the werewolf regional meeting" Luna Rosa announced.
"What! how did that happen?" Jax asked.
"Sit down mother and tell us everything" Rain pulled her to sit down.
"Can I speak to you?" Rafaele asked Rina.
Without waiting for her to reply, he pulled her with him out of the kitchen.
He took her to the study.
"What is it?" She asked
"Why would you do that?" Rafaele asked her.
"Do what?"
"Get our pack to host the werewolf regional meeting"
"And what's wrong with that?"
"You are wrong with it"
Rina crossed her arms, "What do you mean by that?"
"I don't know what is going on with you and why you are acting so nice. I also don't know how long this 'nice act' would last I don't want mom to plan this whole thing alone, she already has to deal with running the home and the Luna duties which you abandoned"
"Do you really think so lowly of me?" Rina asked, for some reason she was hurt by his conjecture.
"Yes Rita, I do. You are so different from the woman i fell in love with. All you have done since becoming my mate is cause me pain. For some reason, mother still trusts you and thus allowed you deceive her into this meeting thing."
"So you think I will abandon Mother to do everything for the meeting alone?"
"Yes Rita"
"I will prove to you that I will help with the planning" Rina told him. If it came to it, she would plead with Rita to help out with the planning.
She wouldn't give this pompous alpha a chance to look down on her.
"Rita, are you sure?" Rafaele asked his eyebrow arched.
"Yes, infact let's make a deal, if i successfully plan the meeting, I can have anything I want" she proposed.
Rafaele walked closer to her, "anything you want? like?"
Rina retreated backwards quickly, "When i win, you will know what i want"
"And what about me? What do i get if you fail?" Rafaele asked.
"What do you want?"
He shrugged, "like you said anything i want too"
From the look on his eyes, she doubted she would like anything he had to say.
He stretched his hand out for a handshake.
"Deal?" he asked.
She took his hand, 'this pompous proud asshole' she would show him, she thought to herself.
Dinner went smoothly and they retired to their rooms to rest.
Rina laid down, knowing this was the last time she would be sharing a bed with Rafaele. This had been a nerve wrecking experience and one which she would never try again.
Thankfully her debt to Rita was over, and her sister would have nothing over her anymore.
"What are you thinking so hard about?" Rafaele asked.
She turned so she could face him.
"Why did you ask me to be your mate?" he asked.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean what did you see in me that made you think that I could be your mate?" she paraphrased her question.
Rafaele smiled, "you were so beautiful the first time I saw you, I went to your pack for a meeting and saw you. You were like a breath of fresh air in my gray life"
"I was?"
"Yes, I was saddled with the responsibilities of my pack, every conversation and interaction I had was about those responsibilities. But with you, I could be a silly young man trying to win over his crush"
"I see" Rina said. Rafaele had been attracted to the flowery world of her sister.
"But if you knew she... I was a simple girl obsessed with my world, why would you force me to be responsible after making me your mate?" she asked.
Rafaele knew her sister wasn't the responsible type, everyone knew. Her father had asked him countless times if he really wanted Rita and he had been sure.
"Maybe I thought with time you would be mature and ready to be a Luna and my support system. But I was right wasn't I, you are getting mature, although I don't know how long it would last" he chuckled.
Rina smiled ruefully, poor Rafaele had no idea that tomorrow his mate would be back. She could only hope that Rita would listen to her advice.
"Rita, why did you accept me as your mate?" Rafaele asked.
"huh?"
"Why did you choose me? While I was courting you, you clearly had someone else on your mind and only entertained me. I am aware of that. I was surprised when you accepted me"
"Maybe you wore me down after all and made me fall in love with you" she replied.
He reached out to hold her hand.
"I hope you still love me, I have asked you before if you no longer love me or want to be my mate, I would let you go, I will never trap you against your will. You know that right?"
"I know" Rina replied, her throat dry. This was wrong! She wasn't the one supposed to hear this conversation. It was Rita.
Rafaele leaned closer, her heart beat even faster. Was he going to kiss her? She hoped not.
Thankfully he kissed her on her forehead.
"goodnight Rita"
"goodnight Rafaele" she told him.
Rafaele drifted off to sleep while once again Rina had a sleepless night.
