...

And in the centre of it all, surrounded by teammates beneath the brilliant Kyiv floodlights, Francesco stood with his captain's armband still wrapped tightly around his arm, gazing toward the sea of red-and-white supporters who had travelled across Europe to witness history.

As the final whistle had barely stopped echoing around the NSC Olimpiyskiy when Francesco finally began walking toward the Real Madrid players.

There was no rush.

No need to celebrate in their faces.

The match was over, the score was history, but the people standing across from him had shared the same brutal ninety-five minutes.

Francesco approached Sergio Ramos first.

The Madrid captain looked exhausted.

His shirt was soaked through, his hair damp with sweat, and his expression carried the hollow disappointment of someone who had come within touching distance of European glory.

Ramos looked at Francesco for a moment.

Then held out his hand.

"Congratulations."

Francesco shook it firmly.

"Thank you."

Ramos pulled him into a brief embrace.

"You deserved it."

Francesco shook his head slightly.

"We both played a hell of a match."

Ramos gave a tired smile.

"Maybe too much of a match."

They separated.

Francesco moved down the line.

Varane received a handshake and a quiet word.

Marcelo embraced him almost immediately.

"You have to be joking," the Brazilian muttered, still looking toward the goal where Francesco's overhead kick had ended Madrid's hopes.

Francesco laughed softly.

"I don't know what happened either."

Marcelo shook his head.

"Of course you don't."

Nearby, Gareth Bale sat on the grass for several seconds before finally getting to his feet. He looked devastated.

Francesco approached him and offered his hand.

Bale accepted it.

"Unbelievable game."

"Yeah."

"You nearly killed us."

Francesco smiled.

"You nearly killed us."

That earned a small laugh.

For a moment, the two simply stood there.

Then Bale pulled Francesco into a hug.

Around them, other Madrid players were struggling with their emotions.

Some had tears running openly down their faces.

Others stared into the distance, trying to process how a match they had fight for somehow slipped away.

Navas sat near his goal, still staring toward the corner where the ball had disappeared into his net.

A Madrid staff member eventually approached and placed an arm around his shoulders.

Navas nodded silently.

Ronaldo stood farther away.

Hands resting on his hips.

His expression was controlled, but the disappointment was impossible to hide.

Francesco saw him.

For a second, neither moved.

Then Ronaldo walked toward him.

The noise surrounding them seemed to fade slightly.

Two players who had spent the evening trying to outdo one another now stood face-to-face after everything had ended.

Ronaldo smiled faintly.

"That goal."

Francesco laughed.

"I know."

"I still don't understand it."

"Neither do I."

Ronaldo shook his head.

"You waited until the final."

Francesco looked toward the scoreboard.

"Had to make it interesting."

Ronaldo laughed quietly.

Then his expression became more serious.

"You played very well."

"So did you."

"I know."

That brought another smile.

Ronaldo extended his hand.

Francesco took it.

The handshake quickly became an embrace.

No cameras could manufacture the moment.

There was too much exhaustion for that.

"You're going to remember tonight forever," Ronaldo said.

Francesco nodded.

"I think everyone will."

Ronaldo looked at the captain's armband around Francesco's arm.

"Take care of it."

"I will."

Then Ronaldo glanced down at his own shirt.

"Trade?"

Francesco smiled.

"Of course."

They removed their shirts.

Ronaldo handed his to Francesco.

Francesco gave him his own.

For a moment they stood holding the shirts of one another.

It was a simple gesture.

But it carried something larger.

One generation handing something symbolic to another.

Respect between two players who had spent years defining the highest level of the sport from different sides of the same pitch.

Ronaldo placed Francesco's shirt over his shoulder.

"Enjoy it."

Francesco nodded.

"You too."

Ronaldo smiled.

"Next time, maybe."

"Maybe."

They shook hands once more before separating.

Eventually Francesco made his way back toward the Arsenal players.

The celebration had become almost chaotic.

Someone had found a national flag.

Another player was carrying a giant Arsenal banner.

Giroud had somehow acquired a bottle of water and was spraying it over anyone who came within range.

"Stop!" Walker shouted, laughing as he ducked.

Giroud sprayed him anyway.

"You deserve it!"

Kanté was laughing so hard that he could barely speak.

Van Dijk stood nearby with both hands on his head.

"I still can't believe that goal."

Francesco walked past him.

"Neither can I."

Van Dijk pointed at him.

"No. Seriously. What were you thinking?"

"Nothing."

"That makes it worse."

They laughed.

Eventually the UEFA officials began directing the Arsenal players toward the tunnel.

The stadium remained deafening.

The players disappeared beneath the stands, still shouting, laughing and embracing one another.

The dressing-room door opened.

And the celebration started all over again.

Champagne bottles appeared.

Music filled the room.

Players shouted over one another.

Someone turned the speakers louder.

Giroud climbed onto one of the benches.

"WE ARE CHAMPIONS!"

The room answered instantly.

"CHAMPIONS!"

Francesco laughed as Walker pulled him into another embrace.

"You actually did it."

"We did it."

"No, you scored that ridiculous goal."

Francesco pointed toward the others.

"And they kept Madrid from scoring."

Kanté nodded solemnly.

"Very important."

Everyone laughed again.

Then the equipment staff arrived carrying bundles of fresh shirts.

The players began changing.

The match kits disappeared.

In their place came dark commemorative shirts with a large 3 printed prominently across the back.

The meaning was obvious.

Three consecutive Champions League triumphs.

The third European crown in succession.

Another piece of history.

Francesco turned his shirt around and stared at the number.

Three.

He ran his fingers briefly across the fabric.

Behind him, Alexis laughed.

"Looks good."

Francesco nodded.

"Yeah."

Then there was a knock at the door.

Two UEFA officials entered.

"Francesco?"

He turned.

"Yes?"

"Congratulations. You've been selected as the Man of the Match."

For a second he simply stared at them.

Giroud immediately shouted.

"Of course!"

The dressing room erupted again.

Francesco laughed and shook his head.

"Seriously?"

The official smiled.

"Two goals in a Champions League Final, including that goal. I think the decision was fairly straightforward."

Francesco looked toward Wenger.

The manager smiled.

"Go."

Francesco changed into a clean shirt and followed the UEFA staff toward the flash-interview area.

The cameras were waiting.

Microphones appeared from every direction.

The noise from the stadium remained audible behind them.

A reporter stepped forward.

"Francesco, congratulations. Champions League winner again, three consecutive titles, and now the historic quadruple. What are you feeling?"

Francesco exhaled.

"Honestly? I don't know yet."

He smiled.

"I'm just happy. We worked for this all season. The Premier League, the League Cup, the FA Cup, and now this. It's incredible, but it's not one player's achievement. It's everyone."

Another reporter asked:

"You scored twice tonight. The second goal may become one of the most famous goals in Champions League history. What went through your mind?"

Francesco laughed.

"Nothing, honestly."

The reporters laughed with him.

"I saw the cross, I tried to get there, and then I just reacted. I didn't plan an overhead kick. If I tried to do it again tomorrow, probably the ball would go into the stands."

More laughter.

A third reporter asked about Madrid.

"Real Madrid pushed Arsenal extremely hard. What was it like facing them?"

"They were unbelievable. We knew that before the match. When they went ahead, we had to stay calm. They have players who can punish you from one moment. We had to keep believing in our football."

Then came the question everyone expected.

"Cristiano Ronaldo?"

Francesco smiled.

"An incredible player. One of the best ever. Playing against him in a final is something I'll never forget. We spoke afterward. He's a great competitor, and I have huge respect for him."

Finally, the reporter asked:

"You're Man of the Match. Do you feel this was your night?"

Francesco looked toward the Arsenal supporters visible beyond the cameras.

"No."

He smiled.

"This was Arsenal's night."

When Francesco returned to the dressing room, the noise immediately returned.

Giroud pointed toward him.

"Look who's back."

Francesco placed the Man of the Match award carefully beside his seat.

He looked at it for a second.

Then he turned away.

There was still something else waiting.

A UEFA official appeared at the door.

"Arsenal delegation. Ceremony."

The players immediately began moving.

One by one they followed the staff back through the tunnel.

When they emerged onto the pitch again, the scene had changed completely.

Only minutes earlier it had been a battlefield.

Now workers had transformed the centre of the stadium.

A large presentation podium had been constructed.

A blue carpet stretched across the ceremony area.

The Champions League trophy stood beneath the lights, gleaming brilliantly.

Confetti cannons had been positioned around the stage.

Pyrotechnic systems waited behind the podium.

Everything was prepared.

Francesco stood with his teammates near the edge of the ceremony area.

The players watched quietly as Real Madrid's delegation was called forward first.

Aleksander Čeferin stood waiting.

One by one, the Madrid players climbed the podium.

Silver medals were placed around their necks.

Ramos accepted his with a solemn nod.

Varane followed.

Marcelo received his medal and looked briefly toward the Arsenal players.

Ronaldo stepped forward.

He accepted his medal without complaint.

Then he turned toward his teammates.

As the Madrid players gathered, Arsenal applauded.

Not loudly.

Not theatrically.

Respectfully.

The defeated team had fought until the final whistle.

They deserved that.

The Madrid coaching staff followed.

Zidane walked onto the podium, his expression still subdued.

Čeferin shook his hand.

A silver medal was placed around his neck.

Zidane looked toward Wenger.

The two managers exchanged a respectful nod.

Then Madrid finally stepped away.

The stage became quiet again.

The match officials were next.

The referee team climbed the podium and received their medals one by one.

The Arsenal players applauded again.

Francesco watched carefully.

The officials had carried an enormous responsibility tonight.

The match had been frantic.

Physical.

Emotionally charged.

Yet it had reached its conclusion without losing control.

Then the stadium announcer spoke.

"And now, the champions."

The Arsenal players reacted immediately.

A few nervous laughs.

A few deep breaths.

The anticipation became almost unbearable.

"Arsène Wenger and his coaching staff."

Wenger looked toward his assistants.

For a second he remained completely still.

Then he walked forward.

The applause began.

It grew louder with every step.

Wenger climbed the blue-carpeted stairs.

Čeferin greeted him.

The first gold medal was placed around his neck.

Wenger touched it briefly.

He looked down.

Then toward the trophy.

For months he had watched his players train.

He had planned.

Adjusted.

Argued.

Encouraged.

Demanded.

Trusted.

The Premier League had been won.

The League Cup had been won.

The FA Cup had been won.

Now the Champions League stood before him.

The quadruple was no longer an ambition.

It was real.

Wenger's eyes glistened.

He swallowed hard before turning toward his coaching staff.

One assistant embraced him.

Another placed a hand against his shoulder.

They had done it together.

The applause from the Arsenal supporters became deafening.

Francesco watched from below.

Around him, Walker, Van Dijk, Kanté, Xhaka, Cazorla and the others stood waiting.

The gold medals were coming.

And after them, the trophy.

Francesco looked across the podium toward Wenger.

The manager looked back.

Neither said anything.

They didn't need to.

The whole season was standing between them in the form of a single gleaming cup.

Behind it waited the greatest celebration Arsenal had ever known.

The players began stepping forward as the ceremony continued, each one preparing to climb the podium and receive the medal that would forever mark the night Arsenal completed the impossible.

Three consecutive Champions League titles.

Four major trophies in one extraordinary season.

And, finally, the moment they had spent an entire year chasing was only moments away.

Then the Arsenal players waited beneath the podium in a strange kind of silence.

Not quiet.

The stadium was anything but quiet.

The Arsenal supporters were still singing, their voices rolling down from the stands in enormous waves, but among the players themselves there was a sense of anticipation that made everything feel briefly distant.

Francesco stood near the front of the group, his gold medal not yet around his neck, his commemorative shirt carrying the number three across his back.

He looked toward the trophy.

It stood beneath the lights.

Silver.

Familiar.

Almost unreal.

He had seen it countless times on television.

He had dreamed about holding it since he was a child.

Now it was only a few metres away.

The stadium announcer's voice suddenly cut through the noise.

"And now…"

The crowd began to react.

"For the champions…"

A pause.

Then the name everyone inside the stadium had been waiting to hear.

"Francesco Lee!"

The Arsenal supporters exploded.

Francesco lowered his head for a second, smiling to himself.

Walker slapped him on the back.

"Go get it."

Francesco turned.

Kanté grinned.

"Don't drop it."

That earned a laugh.

"I won't."

He stepped forward.

The blue carpet stretched beneath his boots as he climbed the podium.

For the first time all evening, there was no ball to chase.

No defender to beat.

No tactical problem to solve.

Just a moment.

Francesco walked toward Aleksander Čeferin.

The UEFA President extended his hand.

"Congratulations."

"Thank you."

Their handshake was firm and respectful.

Čeferin then reached for the gold medal.

Francesco lowered his head slightly as the ribbon was placed around his neck.

The medal settled against his chest.

He touched it instinctively.

Then Čeferin turned toward the trophy.

The famous silver handles caught the floodlights.

For a moment Francesco simply stared.

Čeferin placed both hands around the cup before offering it forward.

Francesco reached out.

His hands closed around the handles.

The weight surprised him.

Not because the trophy was impossibly heavy.

Because of everything attached to it.

Every training session.

Every early morning.

Every tactical meeting.

Every injury scare.

Every defeat.

Every comeback.

Every teammate who had stood beside him.

The Premier League.

The League Cup.

The FA Cup.

And now this.

The Champions League.

Francesco looked down at the trophy.

Then at the medal around his neck.

He smiled.

A quiet, almost disbelieving smile.

Then he turned.

His teammates were waiting.

The entire Arsenal delegation stood together behind the podium.

Wenger was there.

The coaching staff.

The substitutes.

The players.

Everyone who had contributed to the season.

Francesco walked toward them carrying the trophy.

The moment they saw him approaching, the group surged forward.

Giroud was already shouting.

"Come on!"

Walker raised both arms.

Alexis was laughing.

Kanté looked like he might cry.

Francesco reached the middle of the group.

He held the trophy between both hands.

For a few seconds nobody lifted it.

Nobody wanted to rush the moment.

Then Francesco looked around.

At Wenger.

At his teammates.

At the supporters.

He raised the trophy slightly.

"Ready?"

Walker shouted back.

"Ready!"

Francesco smiled.

"One!"

The players joined him.

"ONE!"

"Two!"

"TWO!"

"Three!"

"THREE!"

"Four!"

"FOUR!"

"Five!"

"FIVE!"

The entire group shouted together.

"FOUR!"

Francesco laughed.

"Three!"

The noise grew louder.

"THREE!"

"Two!"

"TWO!"

"One!"

"ONE!"

Francesco bent his knees slightly.

Then lifted the Champions League trophy high above his head.

"YES!"

The stadium detonated.

Fireworks erupted beyond the stands.

Pyrotechnics ignited behind the podium, sending brilliant bursts of light into the Kyiv night.

And then the confetti cannons fired.

Massive waves of red and white confetti exploded across the ceremony area.

Pieces of paper filled the air.

They landed on shoulders.

In hair.

Across the trophy.

Across the blue carpet.

The Arsenal players completely lost themselves.

Giroud jumped onto Walker.

Walker grabbed Xhaka.

Alexis screamed toward the supporters.

Kanté was laughing with tears in his eyes.

Van Dijk wrapped both arms around Koscielny.

Robertson jumped repeatedly, punching the air.

Cazorla stood beneath the falling confetti with his face turned upward, smiling like a child.

Francesco continued holding the trophy above his head.

For several seconds he couldn't hear anything except the roar.

He couldn't think.

He couldn't process it.

The season was actually over.

Not another match.

Not another training session.

Not another final.

Finished.

The Premier League belonged to Arsenal.

The League Cup belonged to Arsenal.

The FA Cup belonged to Arsenal.

And now the UEFA Champions League belonged to Arsenal.

Four trophies.

One campaign.

The first English club ever to complete the historic quadruple.

And the third consecutive Champions League title.

Three.

The number printed across the back of the shirt he was wearing.

Francesco lowered the trophy slightly and looked at it again.

His eyes became glassy.

Walker noticed.

"You alright?"

Francesco laughed.

"Yeah."

He looked toward the Arsenal supporters.

"Just trying to believe it."

Walker pulled him into another embrace.

"Believe it."

Francesco smiled.

They had done it.

Together.

Eventually the official presentation began to wind down.

The players descended from the podium carrying their medals and wiping confetti from their faces.

But the pitch had become a completely different place.

The formal ceremony was over.

Now it belonged to the players.

And suddenly there was another surprise.

Families were being allowed onto the pitch.

Francesco looked toward the crowd.

His eyes moved quickly across faces.

Then he saw them.

Mike.

Sarah.

His parents stood together near the edge of the playing area.

For a second Francesco simply stared.

Then he started walking.

His mother saw him first.

"Francesco!"

He broke into a smile.

He reached them and immediately wrapped both arms around his parents.

Sarah held him tightly.

Mike placed both hands against his shoulders before pulling him into another embrace.

"You did it," his father said quietly.

Francesco swallowed.

"We did it."

His mother looked at the medal around his neck.

Then at the trophy.

Then back at him.

"I can't believe it."

Francesco laughed softly.

"Me neither."

Sarah kissed his cheek.

"You were incredible."

Francesco shook his head.

"They all were."

Mike smiled.

"Still the same."

Francesco laughed.

"Still trying to give everyone else the credit."

"Because everyone else deserves it."

Francesco looked down at the trophy.

Then back at his parents.

"Thank you."

His mother immediately hugged him again.

For a few moments the noise of the stadium seemed distant.

There was no trophy.

No cameras.

No final.

Just a son standing between his parents after the longest season of his life.

Then Francesco heard a familiar voice.

"Francesco!"

He turned.

Leah.

She was walking toward him through the crowd.

Her smile was impossible to miss.

Francesco's face immediately softened.

He walked toward her.

They met halfway.

Leah threw her arms around him.

Francesco hugged her tightly, lifting her slightly off the ground before setting her down again.

She laughed.

"You actually did it."

He smiled.

"We actually did it."

She looked at the medal.

Then at the trophy.

Then back at him.

"That goal…"

Francesco laughed.

"Everyone keeps talking about it."

"Because it was ridiculous."

"I know."

Leah kissed him.

Briefly.

Affectionately.

The chaos continued around them, but for those few seconds neither seemed to notice.

When they separated, Leah rested her forehead against his.

"I'm proud of you."

Francesco smiled.

"Thank you."

She touched the medal.

"Three."

He looked at the number.

"Three."

The photographers eventually found them.

First came a request for Francesco to pose with his parents.

Mike stood on one side.

Sarah on the other.

Francesco held the Champions League trophy between them.

The first photograph captured all three smiling.

Then Sarah looked at the trophy.

"Hold it higher."

Francesco laughed.

"Like this?"

"Yes."

The photographer took another.

Mike placed a hand on Francesco's shoulder.

The flash went again.

Then Leah joined them.

She stood beside Francesco while he held the trophy.

The four of them smiled together.

Another flash.

Then another.

Eventually Mike and Sarah stepped away, leaving Francesco and Leah together.

Francesco lifted the trophy slightly.

Leah placed one hand against the side of the cup.

The photographer captured the moment.

Then Francesco turned toward her.

They laughed.

Another photograph.

This one less formal.

More natural.

Leah looked at him rather than the camera.

Francesco noticed.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"You're staring."

"I'm allowed."

He smiled.

The photographer caught the exchange.

Another photograph.

Then Francesco stood alone with the trophy and medal, looking directly toward the camera.

For one final frame, Leah stepped beside him.

They stood shoulder to shoulder beneath the falling confetti.

No pose seemed necessary anymore.

The night had already given them everything.

Then a familiar voice shouted from across the pitch.

"WHERE IS THE MANAGER?"

Francesco turned.

Giroud was pointing toward Arsène Wenger.

Wenger immediately recognised the danger.

"No."

Walker started laughing.

"Oh, yes."

"No, no, no."

Francesco joined the group.

Wenger backed away.

"You are not doing this."

Kanté grabbed one arm.

Walker grabbed the other.

"Come on, boss!"

The players lifted him.

"ONE!"

Wenger laughed.

"Put me down!"

They lowered him.

Immediately Francesco pointed.

"Again."

Wenger's eyes widened.

"No!"

Up he went.

"Two!"

The players laughed.

"Put me down!"

Three.

Four.

Five.

Each time Wenger protested more dramatically.

By the fifth lift he was laughing so hard he could barely speak.

The coaching staff were laughing nearby.

Substitutes joined the celebration.

Eventually Wenger escaped, straightening his shirt.

"You are all impossible."

Giroud grinned.

"But we're champions."

Wenger looked at them.

His expression softened.

"Yes."

He looked around at his players.

"You are."

Francesco walked over and embraced him.

Wenger hugged him tightly.

Neither said anything.

They didn't need to.

The lap of honour began soon afterward.

Francesco carried the trophy.

His teammates formed around him.

Wenger and the coaching staff followed.

They began walking around the pitch.

The first Arsenal section came into view.

Francesco lifted the trophy.

The supporters erupted.

Scarves rose.

Flags waved.

People cried.

Others jumped up and down.

The players applauded them.

"ARSENAL!"

The chant thundered back.

"ARSENAL!"

Francesco pointed toward one section.

Then another.

He wanted everyone to see it.

The trophy moved from shoulder height to above his head repeatedly.

Walker took it briefly.

Then Van Dijk.

Then Giroud.

But Francesco always got it back.

Not because it belonged to him.

Because he was carrying it for everyone.

They continued around the stadium.

Alexis sang loudly.

Kanté clapped toward the supporters.

Robertson waved both hands.

Cazorla stopped occasionally to applaud the travelling fans.

Wenger walked behind them, smiling continuously.

The Arsenal supporters sang songs that had followed the team throughout the season.

Some fans were crying.

Others were laughing.

Many had their arms around strangers.

The players responded to every section.

Francesco raised the trophy toward them.

Again.

And again.

And again.

The red-and-white confetti continued drifting across the pitch.

The remnants of fireworks hung faintly in the Kyiv sky.

Under the floodlights, the scene looked almost unreal.

A season that had begun months earlier with expectations and pressure had ended here.

Premier League champions.

League Cup winners.

FA Cup winners.

European champions.

A quadruple.

Three consecutive Champions League titles.

And none of it belonged to one player.

It belonged to the entire club.

The players.

The coaches.

The staff.

The families.

The supporters who had travelled across Europe.

The supporters who had watched from home.

Everyone.

Francesco slowed as they reached another Arsenal section.

He lifted the trophy once more.

The response was deafening.

He looked around at his teammates.

Giroud was singing.

Walker was laughing.

Kanté was clapping.

Van Dijk had an arm around Koscielny.

Wenger stood just behind them.

Leah watched from the pitch with Sarah and Mike.

Francesco smiled.

Then he raised the trophy again.

Above him, the last pieces of red and white confetti floated through the floodlights.

For the final time that night, the entire Arsenal delegation gathered together beneath the Kyiv sky.

Players.

Manager.

Coaches.

Families.

Staff.

Supporters.

One club.

One extraordinary season.

And in Francesco's hands, gleaming beneath the floodlights, was the trophy that had brought everything together.
