Chapter 264 - The Black Faction Assembles

Class: Rider

Height / Weight: 182 cm · 71 kg

Strength: B+

Endurance: B+

Agility: B+

Mana: EX

Luck: B+

Noble Phantasm: EX

Alignment: Heaven

A Heroic Spirit born from the descent of a deity—an incarnation of godhood, a manifestation of myth and epic, as perceived by the Root and Counter Force.

Moral Axis: Chaotic · Evil

Chaotic · Evil does not necessarily signify malice. Rather, Selene's very existence—and the world she rules—stands in direct opposition to the structures, laws, and morals of modern civilization.

Selene acts purely by desire, her moral boundaries highly flexible, following no particular doctrine or ideology—acting as she pleases, often in ruthless, bloody fashion.

Class Skills

Magic Resistance: B

Class correction: Nullifies spells of three verses or less. Even high-grade magecraft and ritual sorcery have minimal effect. Under the blessing of her Imperial Regalia, modern magecraft is essentially ineffective.

Riding: A++

An extremely rare gift of mastery over mounts. Having once conquered the dragon-king Danger Beast known as the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea (Cross-Tail Dragon: Yeah... it's me again.), Selene can effortlessly command phantasmal beasts, divine beasts, Honkai Beasts, and even Super-class Danger Beasts—including dragons themselves.

Personal Skills

Divine Core of the God-Empress: A+++ ~ EX

An embodiment of celestial law—the physical manifestation of the great cosmic order. This innate divine attribute grants absolute preservation of both body and mind.

Mental interference is nullified; physical form remains constant regardless of calorie intake or damage.

A composite skill encompassing divinity itself—though only a divided aspect of her true self, because this incarnation is not possessed within a human vessel, its rank reaches EX.

Selene possesses divinity far beyond any ordinary Heroic Spirit. Whether measured by her inherent might or the mythic faith transmitted from the Akame ga Kill world, the Root perceives Selene as a pinnacle deity—capable of both creation and annihilation.

Even demi-gods or posthumous divinities among Heroic Spirits cannot compare. Even those approaching her divine level remain conceptually inferior.

Her divinity is limited only by the vessel of a Heroic Spirit, which cannot sustain her full essence; ordinary Heroic Spirits cannot even approach this threshold.

Independent Action: B

Even without a Master's mana supply, Selene can autonomously draw energy from Imaginary Space. However, as her existence here is a fragmentary data construct, partially constrained by the Root's consciousness, she cannot remain manifested once the Holy Grail War concludes.

Mana (Honkai Energy) Burst: A+

Allows reinforcement of her weapon and body through pure mana—or conversion of that mana into various elemental attacks.

Gourmet: B

A refined talent for seeking and creating the highest quality cuisine.

Through a series of coincidences and inspirations, Selene's passion for fine dining spread throughout the Empire. When the Empress delights in something, the people follow—thus elevating the entire Empire's culinary standards.

Golden Rule: A

Whether fortunate or unfortunate, Selene—having transcended mortal desires—became a magnet for wealth and prosperity. Fortune itself trails in her wake.

Imperial Privilege: EX

A unique ability enabling her to temporarily acquire skills she would otherwise lack, purely through divine will.

Applicable domains include Riding, Swordsmanship, Art, Leadership, and Strategy.

Frozen Sun: EX

A dual-effect ability, both active and passive.

Active: Derived from the misinterpreted legend of her "God's Wrath" (Strong Nuclear Force Manipulation), Selene can manifest a violet-red sun. Unlike the warmth of the true sun, this blazing orb brings only death and annihilation, burning her foes in eternal destruction beneath its endless light and heat.

Passive: Exerts a suffocating divine pressure upon all living beings, inducing primal terror.

Applies continuous debuffs of fear, sustained defense reduction, instantaneous major defense collapse, and curse effects to all enemies. Those of strong will may resist or reduce its influence.

Selene's governing philosophy was an absolute, centralized militarist autocracy. In the eyes of her subjects, Empress Selene was both cruel and merciful—always rewarding and punishing with precise justice, like the ever-shining sun in the sky that illuminated her people.

Yet while that sun dispelled the darkness threatening her Empire, it was a cold sun, offering no warmth—only the light of distant authority.

Noble Phantasms

Bright Knight · Excelsis

Rank: A

Type: Anti-Unit (Self)

Range: 0

Bright Knight · Excelsis is Selene's own battle regalia, manifesting as a deep-blue minidress reinforced with silver-white armored accents, formed from condensed Honkai Energy. Though visually alluring and elegantly styled, it possesses exceptional defensive capability that belies its revealing design.

Rather than functioning as armor in a conventional sense, it came to be revered as the "Teigu" most beloved by her subjects. In this form, the Empress reveals a rarely seen feminine charm—an aspect of Selene that inspires appreciation as much as reverence.

Through Bright Knight · Excelsis, the distant sun upon the throne is rendered human, her authority opened not only to awe, but to admiration of her grace and beauty.

Rank: A+++

Type: Anti-Nation

Range: Unknown

Maximum Target: Unknown

The first and mightiest of the Imperial Teigu—the origin and ultimate apex of all Teigu—revered as the Supreme Teigu.

Its true form is that of a colossal mecha-god over five hundred meters tall, its armor nigh-indestructible, its divine armaments capable of unleashing devastation equal to the wrath of gods.

Complete Book of the World · Rongo Rongo

Maximum Target: 1 Person

A tome that gazes upon every corner of the world with starlit brilliance, containing omniscient knowledge of all creation.

Honkai Dimension

Rank: EX

Type: Anti-World / Anti-Planet / Anti-Civilization

Effective Range: ???

Maximum Target: ???

The ultimate trump card of Selene's data-formed Heroic Spirit incarnation—summoning and projecting the Empire's armies and structures into reality as autonomous Servants or bounded fields.

From the Imperial Capital and the Grand Palace, to the Imperial Guard Legion, Astartes Legion, and even the vast structures of the Honkai Dimension itself—Selene's world can be invoked as one.

...

Celenike spoke with trembling excitement to Darnic, her voice brimming with triumph. "We've won, Lord Darnic! This war—victory is ours!"

"Yes... I believe it too. This time, victory will belong to Yggdmillennia!" Darnic replied, glancing at the fortunate magus before him—Celenike of the ancient Ascol bloodline.

Now, it was clear—Vlad III was no longer their mightiest Servant. But should he seize the Command Spells from Celenike?

No... not yet. He didn't know how this divine being regarded her Master. To forcibly intervene might provoke disaster—and would Command Spells even work on such a being? This required careful thought.

As Darnic pondered how best to approach this newfound goddess, Selene gracefully accepted Vlad's bow.

Raising a hand, she simulated gravitational force with her Honkai Energy, gently lifting the five kneeling Heroic Spirits to their feet. Her gaze fell upon Vlad.

His complexion was pale as parchment, his silvery-white hair cascading down his back, his dark aristocratic garments blending seamlessly with the surrounding shadows—a figure that indeed resembled a vampire.

Was this his original form, or had his spiritual foundation been tainted by the legend of Dracula?

"Prince Vlad," Selene spoke softly, "I can sense your noble spirit. Your reputation has been twisted by human invention and slander, leaving you burdened with falsehood. You seek to reclaim your honor—I understand."

Selene regarded him with a trace of respect. For all his cruelty toward enemies, Vlad III remained an upright and principled ruler.

After all, was she not the same?

"My hero is another's villain." Such a simple truth—yet there are still those who cannot comprehend it.

A man who defended his homeland in life, and who now stands as a Heroic Spirit defending the Holy Grail in death—at his core, Vlad III was undeniably a noble and upright leader, pure of spirit and resolute in purpose.

"Forgive my impertinence, Your Majesty," Vlad said with a faint, wry smile. "The reason I answered the summons was to cleanse the world of the disgraceful title of 'Vampire Dracula.'"

He didn't ask how Selene knew his wish—after all, for a god, to see through the heart was nothing extraordinary.

Though summoned in his homeland of Romania, where his kingly nature was most potent—Vlad was not one to kneel before Masters or fellow monarchs. But a god was another matter entirely. That was why he had so readily yielded leadership to Selene.

"I do not regret the path I have walked," Vlad continued solemnly. "My defiance against the Ottoman Empire, my imprisonment, the years of misfortune—all these, I accept as part of life. But the slander—the defilement of my name as 'Dracula the Vampire'—that, I will never forgive!"

"Then may you succeed," Selene replied softly. "Though I answered this summons, I have no interest in the Holy Grail. What I seek, the Grail cannot grant. I came merely to... play, and to reclaim what is mine."

Walking toward the grand throne of the hall, Selene ran her fingers along its armrest, her voice calm but regal. "As the one who summoned me, I shall grant you the final victory of this Holy Grail War."

She smirked faintly. "Seven versus seven... you call this a war? It's more of a street brawl."

A troublesome farce... but since I've built this persona of a proud ruler, I'll see it through to the end, Selene thought dryly to herself.

"Your Majesty, your presence honors us beyond measure," Darnic said, his smile betraying his excitement. He wisely ignored Selene's sardonic tone.

"Speaking of which, Darnic—counting me, there are only six Servants here. Where are Assassin and their Master?" Selene asked, glancing at him sideways.

"Your Majesty," Darnic quickly replied, "Assassin's Master is Hyouma Sagara. He is not currently in Romania but will soon arrive to join our ranks."

"Is that so? Then how do you explain the fact that he's already dead—in Shinjuku, Tokyo?" Selene's tone was casual, almost disinterested. As she spoke, a radiant golden light appeared in her hand. With a faint shimmer, a massive ornate tome materialized in the air.

"What?!"

The room fell into stunned silence. Darnic, the Yggdmillennia magi, even the Heroic Spirits—all stared, dumbfounded.

They had only just reached full numbers, and already, before the war even began, one of their own was gone?

Recovering quickly, Darnic placed a hand over his chest and bowed. "My sincerest apologies, Your Majesty. I beg your indulgence—may we know what befell Hyouma Sagara?"

"See for yourselves... Complete Book of the World · Rongo Rongo—Projection."

Instantly, the golden eye sigil on the tome blazed with light, flooding the hall with an illusionary radiance.

"A Noble Phantasm...? Wait—that's Hyouma?!"

Gordes, who had been basking in pride for summoning one of the most balanced Sabers, immediately shrank back in awe. After Selene's arrival, boasting was no longer advisable.

Within the projection, their ally Hyouma Sagara lay motionless in a pool of his own blood. The crimson-stained floor glistened beneath his corpse—his chest hollow, heart missing.

Drip... drip... gulp.

Among the dripping blood, the wet sound of flesh being torn and chewed echoed horribly.

In the vision cast by Rongo Rongo, two silhouettes stood over the corpse—one a disheveled woman, the other a small girl, happily devouring the heart in her hands.

Her frail, youthful form radiated pure malice and the stench of curses. The sight of her biting into raw human flesh made even Darnic's brow twitch in distaste.

Pushing his sister Fiore's wheelchair, Caules gagged audibly. "Assassin... did she betray us?"

"Without a doubt," Vlad said coldly. "We may not know her motives, but such an act is undeniable treachery."

"Jack the Ripper—the infamous murderer of 19th-century London," Selene stated, closing the glowing tome. "She is not a true Heroic Spirit, but an evil spirit, a vengeful wraith. Since she has been confirmed as an enemy, there is no need for mercy. Purge her."

Her command echoed like a decree.

"Then it is settled," Darnic said grimly. "The Black Faction has assembled in full."

Selene turned toward the assembled Servants. "That will be all for tonight. It is late. Dismissed... ah, yes—Royal Guard, see that the Master is well protected."

Thud!

"For Selene—!"

The resounding chorus of devotion filled the hall, reverberating beneath the ancient stone arches as the Black Faction knelt before their divine sovereign.
