Chapter 43 - Obsidia Retaliates

Days have passed since Lancelot last saw his family. He wanted to find them. He wanted to save them. He knew something bad had happened, but he didn't have the power to break through his father's Bun'dao and escape Mesnil. Lancelot was stuck wallowing in his own thoughts, disheartened, depressed, and even confused.

Without his father around, he would inevitably be forced to become King—but then—he came. Dracula by some unknown means infiltrated Mesnil Kingdom and returned Ban of Benoic, except it was his head on a silver platter, alongside Arondight.

Everyone screamed at the entrance of the Kingdom; horrified to see their leader beheaded and sat atop a silver plate as if he was nothing more than decoration. Word quickly spread and Lancelot heard the news.

The young lad couldn't comprehend everything at once. It was much too much.

Everything felt surreal—Lancelot felt numb inside—as if his brain was denying reality; but he knew it was true.

His father was killed by the Lord of Darkness, and so was his mother.

Over time, Lancelot grew older and was forced to be King. He dedicated his entire life to training until he eventually met Arthur Pendragon and his other loyal knights who managed to breach into Mesnil to join forces.

Together, they formed an alliance called the Knights of the Round Table.

With their power—and the strength of their Holy Vessels—each Legendary Hero stood on the battlefield, ignited with courage. They went to war with the Three Witches of Calamity and their allies—defeating their army in a clash of will. The corrupted Elohim fell to Heroic Knights as their Holy Vessels laid waste to the evil that plagued Yggdrasil.

But there was one thing that stood out among the Knights of the Round Table

It was King Arthur.

He was by far the strongest, bravest, and sturdiest man in their alliance. He wielded a sword of hope that could even drive away Chaos itself with enough willpower. Nobody could match up to his strength—his charisma carried them all. Once Lancelot realized this, he was struck with jealousy.

After losing his parents at the hands of Dracula, and then seeing a man as powerful as Arthur Pendragon, he wanted nothing more than to acquire strength.

The Age of Legends had ended, and then a new age began right after Asgard was sealed away.

Lancelot became more ruthless, malevolent, and irritated in this new age. He believed to be a failure who was good for nothing but getting in the way.

Lancelot took his anger out on everyone, even his most loyal knights of Mesnil. He secretly hated himself for being weak and frail.

The King of Mesnil needed a way to become stronger and to avenge his family. Dracula was still out there, wandering around the world without remorse for his actions. Knowing this would only drive his ambition.

Lancelot wasn't a man bored of the world, and its countless riches, no... he was a man who thrived off of power. And so he fought back against Dracula and his army—despite knowing he couldn't win.

He showed immense bravery that boosted the morale of his men! Lancelot always stood on the battlefield on the frontlines, murdering the fiends that Dracula calls family.

Sir Lancelot was nothing more than a merciless killing machine, hell-bent on gaining power. He did everything to become stronger, even if it meant risking the lives of his men.

He wanted Dracula to pay at all costs, even if he had to sacrifice his morals to do so.

But now, he's found someone who's worthy. A foe that could challenge him and make him stronger! His eyes were set upon no one other than Grimhild Yorgana, the Witch of Destruction.

In a vast, empty void of white space, the sounds of gears twisted, grinding against one another. It was as if a machine was being turned on after so long—and needles to say—it was.

Chroliosa could feel life return to her body as she hovered in front of Grimhild in the lawless realm.

"You've sealed me here for ages, Master Grimhild. What was your reason?"

Grimhild—stoic as ever—approached the Golem before placing her hand on its forehead.

"Seheita."

A magic circle would appear, giving Grimhild an inner analysis of the Golem's body.

"Your engine seems to be malfunctioning. It could be from the rust and tear inside your body which explains your loss of memories."

"My... engine?" Obsidia placed her hand against her chest as Grimhild lowered her hand.

"Yes. Your engine is the magical formula that gives you the power to manipulate the Authorities of the Gods. I created it ten years ago, don't you remember?"

Obsidia, emotionless, gazed upon the mage with hollow eyes that held killing intent.

"...Authorities... Gods...?"

A sudden rumble echoed across the void of white space, alerting Chroliosa who watched from afar.

"This doesn't sound good..." Chroliosa cringed, taking a few steps back to gain more distance.

"How irritating..." Mumbled Grimhild before sighing. "Even though your engine is malfunctioning, you can still override the enchantments I placed on your Fusion Core, perhaps I made you a little too resilient, Obsidia."

"Threat detected. Destroy Grimhild Yorgana. Traitor. Threat detected. Destroy Grimhild Yorgana. Traitor. Threat detected. Destroy Grimhild Yorgana. Traitor."

Grimhild lifted her brows.

"Traitor? If sealing you away to prevent innocent people from dying makes me a traitor, then so be it."

"Threat detected. Destroy Grimhild Yorgana. Traitor."

"Master Grimhild, what shall we do?"

"Just stay far away, Chroliosa, it's for your own good."

The Spirit of Time nodded, albeit hesitantly.

"A-Alright, but if you're in need of assistance then it would be wise to alter my nucleus back into its original form."

"That will not be necessary." Proclaimed the witch.

"Threat detected. Destroy Grimhild Yorgana. Traitor."

Obsidia repeated the same words as her eyes glowed red. She lifted her palm—morphing her hand into a cannon.

"Initiating Cosmic Cannon, 100% Capacity."

"100% Capacity? You really are trying to kill me, aren't you?"

Obsidia's Arm Cannon started to glow, gathering more heat than that of a Supernova. Its temperatures rose to heights thought impossible by even fire mages.

100 million degrees.

500 billion degrees.

"Give it your best shot."

It eventually reached its limit as she fired the massive attack. Electricity sparkled, and everything went white, blinding the eyes of Chroliosa.

"Ghnnn... I can't see!"

The entire white void shook from Obsidia's colossal power. Grimhild was caught in the blast that could destroy entire Solar Systems from its raw power alone.

"M-Master Grimhild!! Oh no..." Trying to uncover her eyes, Chroliosa could feel her skin burning from the immense heat reaching her almost instantaneously. "Damnit...! Gilfronta!" Erecting an anti-magical barrier to lessen the damage, the Spirit of Time continued backing away.

"..." Obsidia remained emotionless as she lowered her Arm Cannon, waiting to see the results, and to her surprise—

"That almost left a scratch."

"..."

Quiet, the Golem lifted its cannon again, preparing to fire.

"Do you honestly think you have what it takes to destroy your creator? A billion degrees of heat isn't enough to put me down, I've taken far worse."

"Ah... thank goodness!" Chroliosa crouched to her knees and slowly began to heal her wounds with magic. "Thanks to the Yorgana System, Grimhild is immune to whatever she analyzes. This battle shouldn't last long at all."

"Preparing Comet Thruster, 100% Capacity."

Grimhild would cast a magic circle in front of her, launching forth an explosive dark flame.

"Emil Dronta Hades."

"!!!" Rocket boosters came from the Golem's feet, launching her forward at high acceleration. "Preparing Comet Fists, 100% Capacity." Dodging Grimhild's spell, Obsidia would gain rocket thrusters at her elbow, accelerating her punching speed greatly.

"Gilfronta."

Grimhild erected an anti-magical barrier in an attempt to block the strike, however, it wasn't enough. Punching with a force equivalent to that of a neutron star, Grimhild's barrier shattered, feeling Obsidia sock her in the gut. The almighty witch exploded into pieces, raining blood and gore all around them.

"Threat neutralized. Grimhild Yorgana destroyed."

"I think not."

Appearing behind Obsidia—Grimhild had already cast another spell as if she didn't just defy death itself.

"Luralza!" Launching a blast of lightning, the Golem maneuvered in the air, dodging at the last second. "You did your best, but this battle was already decided from the beginning."

Flying higher into the air, Obsidia gained considerable distance from her creator, now gazing upon them with curious eyes.

"How... are you alive?"

"The Yorgana System of course. Have you forgotten all the things your beloved master can do, Obsidia?" Grimhild smirked at the Golem, wielding her staff. "It's a system I created that can calculate an infinite number of possible and impossible outcomes in finite time. But it can also act on its own."

Obsidia remained poker-faced, hoping to gather the information she needed to defeat Grimhild.

"It is a void at the end of time, surrounded by the same Nothingness of Oblivion to hide its location. It can freely alter my nucleus, change my appearance, and bring me back from death itself. It is something you cannot destroy. Don't you see? You stand no chance against me." Grimhild's stoic expression reappeared, but this time, anger was brewing within her eyes. "Admit defeat."

"..."

Chroliosa heard everything from afar, thanks to mana control. Grimhild seemed to have everything handled.

"And here I was... worried..."
