Chapter 42 - Skipped heart

" Rya! " Someone's voice echoed throughout the hall as a woman found her way to a shut room " ryaa!! " She yelled as she opened the room, the medical event had now finished, and so Puja tried to find rya to go back home.

" Where are yo- " she tried to finish, though before she could. She noticed a lone figure sitting still in front of a mirror, her face had that quite dipression one does not speak of.

" So here you are sitting all alone before the mirror, not caring a bit about the world " Puja whispered as she walked closer to rya, she sat before the huge mirror that reflected not only her but an old letter that she held.

Before puja could could speak a word, she saw her face glowing with desperation and tranquility.

Rya spoke before Puja could.

" Tell me, puja... what do you think of my future self? Will I be become a good docter, or will I not? "

Puja had been left speechless, of course she was. After all, rya had scored the highest on the medical tests and even ranked top among all others in the medical collage. Not just that, but she'd helped hundreds of people during the [ save helpless people campaign ]

" I don't, but I do know that you will do your best, no matter what! I know you can do it! " Puja expressed.

" Hmm, thanks " rya replied, her voice that of a tranquil person.

" It's time to head home, let's go. " Puja murmured to rya as she found her a tight hug.

" Hmm, yeah, let's " rya replied as she nod her head in aggreement.

Both of them hopped in the car, As Puja turned the keys, the car engine burst started.

The peaceful scenery quickly flew past them as Puja drove the car above a bridge when suddenly, rya requested a stop.

" Puja, stop the car " rya asked as she readied herself to get off the car.

" Rya, why here? Its late night, " puja started, despite the passing time and the dark night rya walked out of the car and stood at the edge of the bridge staring strangely at the scene, the reflection of the streaming water.

" What happened rya? " Puja asked, though he question had been replaced by Ryan's as she asked " puja, once you had asked me the reason to why I choose to be a doctor, right? " Asked rya as the soft wind breeze blew every strand of her hair.

" Yes, yes I did. I was curious, you had always been the careless type girl who'd bully others. But now you've changed, like a LOT. Both in life, and in your profession! " Puja exclaimed as she await her answer.

Rya stood above the bridge still staring into the far gaze of the river, the bridge which people had named the heavens path bridge had become the place of her resolution.

She moved her lips as she started to uncover her past,

" A long time ago when I was still young, I met a boy of my age. He was kind of average, his cloths had always been dirty, covered in wounds he never could have healed, to top it of, he had no money.

He believed that begging had would somehow provide him money, though even that busted as that day, when he rode the bus, no passanger except me and him had boarded the bus.

He, yet still looked happy, despite having nothing that he dreamed of.

I talked to him, for hours before knowing that his sole goal was to reach this very bridge we stand upon today. It seemed weird to me at that time, but he looked happy to chase such stupid Dream.

Before long, I reached home, though as I prepared to get off, he gave me a letter, he told me to read it later.

I had already been much so irritated with love letters as I got more than many at school, though his... His letter kind of felt hopeful, it was his determination that sparked something inside me, I just could not decline it. At last, I accepted it and got home.

Later, as I watched the tv, I heard this news that... That a boy had jumped off a bridge just that morning.

I couldn't help but rush to the letter he'd given me, opening it my hands shacked, my eyes had already shede a drop of water, reading through it I found out that he'd been sicked with the kind of illness God wish no one has.

Even his family had abandoned him to rot and die.

He'd written that, though I may not remember it, saved his life. And for that, he got to live again.

Though the sickness was incurable for him, he still fought with it till the end.

And that is when he decided to find me for one last time, meet me, talk to me for one last time!.

He did it, unlike some other people who often escape their responsibilities and are good for nothing, that is when I made up my mind to become a doctor!

To help others in need, to save those who cannot afford high medical bills.

The boy I had unknownly saved long while ago, saved not just me but hundred others! Someone like me who'd lost all hope in life, he saved me! And I, as such an irresponsible person gave hope to someone else.

Though, I guess that's how life is huh. "

She finally finished, her voice a little louder now, as if she'd cleared up all the trash she'd build up for the past many years.

" I understand now, life is weird, life is all about change. And you!... Have changed to someone who is meaningful, that is what matters! "

After that, they finally reached back home where many people awaited their arrival.

They all laughed, and shared stories people will continue telling for years to come,.

life is all about change"
