A full day had passed since we left the beastmen tribe behind.
Our original route to the academy should've taken a day—at most. But thanks to the Fenrir incident, things had dragged out. There was no time left to swing by the duchy and say our goodbyes to family.
The one-week leave from the academy officially ends today. Tomorrow morning, we're expected back at the Arcane Academy, sharp. No excuses.
After all the delays, tension, and running around, we were exhausted.
The return journey involved two separate portal transitions: first to the royal capital, and then to the nearest affiliated magic tower just outside the academy grounds. Each teleportation point had strict protocols. We had to pass through layers of verification, magic scans, and magical identity confirmation before each jump. Security had doubled since the last time we used the portals.
Now, we were finally inside a carriage, rolling down the final stretch from the magic tower to the academy. Just an hour left.
