Chapter 21 - Growth

Frost constantly avoided the strikes as he was attacked from every angle. Sirius and Sarah made a good team and coordinated well with one another. Although they had never faught together before; their shared goal of beating him, helped fill in the gaps.

"Not sure this is what he meant when he invited you to join."

He continued to dodge them, and landing blows on them; which were quickly turned against him by Sarah. She had been keeping the two, as well as Nima in the fight; better than he expected.

Sirius ended up changing into his Celestial form to keep up with her ever growing power. They both stayed on equal footing, growing as they faught; keeping an eye on one another; as to stay balanced in their assault.

Nima although fighting alone seemed to be faring better than them; even to the point of unlocking a portion of his own celestial state.

The only time he had a really hard time against his opponents was each time he was attacked by Soul at random, or when they shifted their attack patterns without warning.

Although he could adapt, it wasn't fast enough to avoid the lethal blows of Soul.

Everytime he thought he could catch up and keep the pace with them, Soul would change it up leaving him barely conscious. Once he was recovered; that battle would begin again but no two fights were ever the same.

Luckily Sarah kept up with her orders of keeping him alive, which allowed for Soul to strike without holding back.

--

"Well now, it seems about time we wrap things up, you three have done well. Still much to learn but that will have to be learned as you go."

Frost looked at the two as he spoke, grabbing their fists as the attempted to strike him. He let out a small burst of aura that reached the others as well as Soul and Nima.

The energy silently rushed past them, but they knew what it meant. It was the signal that the training was over. They knew this simply because all of the power they had been using had disappeared; in that instant.

Not only had all our of their abilities and transformations been canceled but the wraiths had been dispersed as well.

Soul let up his stance and brushed himself off, then walking over to Nima he put his arm around his shoulder. Nima tensed up at first but realized the fighting was truly over and he could finally relax.

"You did good kid, even surprised me a little. No wonder Vash likes you so much; you're a regular old prodigy, aren't ya."

"Thanks, I realize that doesn't really mean much since you guys got your powers the same time as everyone else; yet you're leagues above us."

Soul chuckled at the response; patting him on the back.

"Give yourself more credit, you've got a whole new ability; all together, and you're already got the hang of it; even at the class you are. That's pretty impressive if you ask me."

He thought about it for a bit and had to agree, when layed out like that; it did seem pretty amazing.

As they continued on Soul gave him a few pointers on some of the things he noticed during their fight. As he took in the advice, he was quite surprised at how well he was being analyzed during a fight that could've been the end of his life. Yet for Soul it was like any other fight.

The two met up with the other three, whom were going over their strengths and weaknesses shown in the fight. Frost was also complimenting the two on the last minute cooperation skills; being able to coordinate with someone so well even though you've never met before let alone faught beside was a huge accomplishment.

Walking up to them, Nima was the first to speak:

"So, how'd it go?"

"Pretty well I'd think. We got rid of the clones and I was able to get the hang of my body and powers in this state."

Sirius clenched his fists as he spoke, he could feel the physical difference of his body now that he had recalibrated it to match his foreign surroundings. Even more so since this was the first he could actually test his body and prowess since awakening.

"The only issue was doing actual damage to the real one, even with the collective damage from the three of us. he'd simply just brush it off; or cancel it all together somehow."

Sirius looked over to Sarah, whom nodded in response; confirming the statement was true.

"Oh by the way Soul told me you were the one keeping me in the fight, thank you. Without you I'm sure I would've died a at least ten times over."

When saying this he bowed in respect and appreciation, towards Sarah. She looked away as she blushed, she wasn't used to receiving this kind of attention. Sirius smiled and inwardly snickered at her reaction.

"It's no problem I was just doing what was asked of me. I got something out of it two, so think of it as more of a trade instead."

The three looked at one another, then laughed. They got to fight side by side for the first time, bonding as a team. Now they were talking as if nothing happened, and not even a small scratch plagued their bodies.

They'd seen eachothers strengths and weaknesses, learned to fight together, even with Nima being in a different area; he too had adapted his fighting style with them.

Knowing he could push his own limits because Sarah had his back if he wound up too wounded to continue.

As they finished their conversation they were led to join the others by Soul. While walking Sirius stopped infront of Nima; whom continued on like he wasn't there. Walking through him, Sirius was absorbed back into his body.

Now with just the two of them following Soul he noticed they had walked right past Frost; whom just stood in place looking up at something.

Following his gaze he could see one person with the others whom seemed slightly out of place. He couldn't explain what it was but something about him seemed different and unsettling.

He felt there was something off about Dre as he looked down over them. It felt like tunnel vision as everything around him started two blur and become silent as he was drawn in by his deep boundless aura.

As he watched the world distort around Dre, he felt as if he were the only one left in this world who could stand before him. His knees began to buckle under the weight of his gave and yet it wasn't even directed at him.

"...ey.... hey...HELLO?!?!"

Snapping out of the trance he could see that Sarah had been trying to get his attention for sometime now, she had even placed her hand on him checking if anything was affecting him internally; to no avail.

"What... I'm sorry what were we talking about?"

He said looking at her as the image still pierced his mind.

"You're sweating, are you alright? You kinda blanked out there for a second."

"Yeah, sorry I'm fine."

She looked at him showing the doubt and worry on her face, yet she didn't question him. She hadn't found anything wrong with him, and she doubted anything out of her capabilities would be affecting only one person; when they were surrounded by those way stronger.

"Did you... did you see that?"

"See what?" She looked at him wondering what it could have been to make him act in such a way.

He waited for a reply from Sirius as well but his minds voice was silent. In that moment even his presence was missing, as if he was being suppressed, or maybe his senses were just messing with him.

"Sirius...?"

The lack of a reply made his heart beat faster. The slight change in his demeanor didn't go unnoticed by Sarah. She was about to check on him until something wisped past them.

Nima's eyes opened wide as his ears began to ring. He had been looking in the direction of Dre once more, that is, until he had vanished before his very eyes.

Still looking in the direction where he once was he felt the small bit of air brush the hair from his face and a voice in his ear.

"Good, now pay attention."
