The two glared at each other, tension slowly thickening in the air.

Then—

Yaga stepped in, a firm hand landing on Kinji's shoulder.

"Enough. We're not here to fight before the tournament."

Both students backed off, but their eyes stayed locked.

Yaga turned to Gakuganji, a faint smile creeping back onto his face.

"This year…"

He crossed his arms.

"…we're taking the cup back."

Gakuganji smirked.

"I doubt that."

Then—his gaze shifted.

Slowly, his eyes landed on Ryosuke, standing quietly among Kyoto's students.

The boy met his gaze without flinching, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

Yaga followed Gakuganji's line of sight, eyes narrowing slightly as they found Ryosuke.

He stayed silent for a moment, studying him.

Then—

He turned back to Gakuganji, raising a brow.

"You're playing your ace already?"

Gakuganji nodded.

"Indeed."

Yaga smiled faintly.

"Interesting."

He glanced over the Kyoto students before facing Gakuganji again.

"You're pretty short on numbers this year."

Gakuganji chuckled.

"We'll manage. But you… I almost pity you."

Yaga laughed softly, then turned toward his own students.

"Alright, settle in. The tournament starts tomorrow morning."

Tokyo's students nodded and began heading toward their assigned dorms.

But—

Yuta stopped.

His eyes swept across Kyoto's group, pausing briefly on each of them.

Todo.

Noritoshi.

Momo.

Mai.

Kasumi.

Mechamaru.

And finally—

Ryosuke.

Their gazes met.

Ryosuke gave him a crooked smile.

Yuta's face didn't change, but his hand tightened slightly around his sword's hilt.

Maki walked up, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Come on, Yuta. Let's go."

He blinked, then nodded.

"Yeah…"

But his eyes stayed on Ryosuke for a moment longer before he turned away and followed the others.

Ryosuke watched him leave, his smile widening just a bit.

Kasumi leaned closer, whispering,

"That was… tense, huh?"

Ryosuke shrugged.

"A little."

Mai crossed her arms, frowning.

"That Yuta guy… he looks dangerous."

Ryosuke nodded.

"Yeah."

He turned to her, the smile fading just slightly.

"That's why we gotta be ready."

Mechamaru's synthetic voice hummed softly.

"The tournament starts tomorrow."

Ryosuke nodded again.

"Yeah."

Todo laughed loud, slapping Ryosuke's back.

"That's the spirit, my brother!"

Ryosuke dodged the hit, grinning.

"Yeah, yeah…"

Night fell over Kyoto's campus. The students had retreated to their quarters, leaving the traditional buildings bathed in a heavy, almost sacred silence.

In a quiet room of the main hall, two figures faced each other.

Gakuganji poured tea into two cups, his movements slow and deliberate. The faint hiss of the steaming liquid filled the silence. He handed one cup to Yaga without a word.

Yaga accepted it but didn't drink. He waited.

The Kyoto director sat down across from him, taking a sip before speaking.

"Tokyo didn't send Satoru as their supervising instructor."

Yaga didn't react.

"That's quite the disrespect," Gakuganji continued, setting his cup down with a sharp clack. "Or maybe… fear?"

Yaga smirked. "Fear?" He gave a low chuckle. "You're underestimating Tokyo again, Gakuganji. You think we're just Satoru and nothing else?"

The old man narrowed his eyes. "I underestimate no one." He paused. "But neither should Tokyo underestimate us."

"Ah." Yaga placed his untouched cup back on the table. "So that's what this is about."

Gakuganji nodded, his face hardening. "Kyoto won't join your operation."

Yaga frowned, his hand tightening slightly on his knee. "You just want to stir things up, huh?"

"Stir things up?" Gakuganji leaned forward, voice cold as ice. "Tokyo has Satoru Gojo. What does Kyoto have, tell me?" He slammed his fist on the table, making the cups rattle. "You ask us to risk our assets while you keep yours safe!"

"Risk?" Yaga straightened up. "We're talking about neutralizing a threat."

"A threat that you decided was one." Gakuganji crossed his arms. "I won't throw away an ace that valuable over some rumor. Ryosuke is Kyoto's future."

"The future?" Yaga laughed dryly. "That kid's dangerous, Gakuganji." He leaned forward. "Satoru told me himself. The boy's been collecting Sukuna's fingers."

Gakuganji's face froze for a second. His wrinkles deepened.

Then he shrugged. "Rumors."

"Facts."

"Prove it."

Yaga's jaw tightened. "You're playing with fire."

"No." Gakuganji stood up, towering over him despite his age. "You're the arrogant one." His tone sharpened like a blade. "You think Kyoto can't handle talent the way you handled Satoru in Tokyo?"

"It's not the same."

"Why? Because he's your Satoru?" Gakuganji nearly spat the word. "Because you pulled it off once?"

"Because Kyoto doesn't have a Satoru," Yaga shot back, standing up as well. "Kyoto has a potential Geto."

Silence crashed down like a weight.

Gakuganji didn't move for a long moment. Then, slowly, a cold smile twisted his face.

"Careful with your words, Yaga." He started walking toward the door. "You really think we'd make the same mistake as you?" He chuckled darkly. "Kyoto isn't Tokyo. We know how to keep our students in line."

Yaga felt anger rise in his chest but forced it down. He took a deep breath.

"Then…" He crossed his arms. "At least don't get in our way. That's all I'm asking."

Gakuganji stopped at the door, hand on the handle.

"I make no promises."

Without turning back, he added,

"The tournament starts tomorrow. May the best one win."

Then he slid the door open and stepped out.

The old man disappeared into the dark hallway.

Yaga stayed there, staring at the untouched cup of tea.

His fist clenched.

He let out a slow sigh.

"That old fool…"

He looked out the window.

Stood up.

Headed toward the exit.

But paused.

"A potential Geto…"

His fists tightened again.

"I hope I'm wrong."

Then he left.

The room stayed empty.

In Kyoto's dorms, Ryosuke sat by the window, staring up at the moon.

A small smile played on his lips.

He closed his eyes.

Tomorrow's gonna be fun…

His smile widened.

And in the shadows of his room—something stirred.
