Chapter 601 - The Island Known as Marineford, Ingens Fortezela

Ignens Fortezela

Marineford.

Marine Headquarters

The Island was a massive artificial structure that was nearly a thousand years old. With still the original foundations at the very depths of the island where the first stones were placed. It Seemed like every decade something new came about from the Fortress. New implements, new structures, A New Business.

Marineford was a massive island, nearly perfect circular.

From above the Island had large spire mountains that were in the position that resembled that of the sigil the World Government uses. These mountains were only on the lowest level

The Entire Island was constructed similarly to many Marine islands that used layers and elevation to create layers of importance. Marineford was unique in that is elevation was done in a similar manner to stairs.

The very back of the Island was at low elevation with sea level like the front, but with a sheer edge of the back of the main base, where the training grounds sat and additional ports were lined for maintenance along with decommissioned vessels. There were a few buildings for things such as recruitment, machining, barracks and other such. The back of the island was utilized for the training cadets.

If one were to look from the sky, or the top floor of the Main Building, they would see the large Letter 'HQ' emblazoned across the stone of the port

From the front of the island, the ports sat for the bay, The Bay itself was massive and was capable of housing tens of dozens of Ships including the enormous warships, comfortably. The Bay itself was crescent with many look outs and only a single point of entry from the 'mouth' of the bay.

All along the inner mouth, were docks large enough to hold 4 War Ships each.

The Yard in which now the countless marines stood ready was equally large, as it needed to be spacious enough to not only hold entire crews before disembark, but also to haul cargo to these ships. Currently, there were many lines across the yard. Trenches that had been dug days in advanced, as well as the mechanical ditches that were hidden for this exact reason

It was thought that no one would ever be crazy enough to do a full frontal assault on the HQ, but these battlements were made for just that 1 in a trillion possibility.

Much like the back of the base, there was a sheer wall of elevation that rose many meters up from sea level, with a giant stair case that led up to the City. Along the walls were mechanized lifts and pulleys for transporting goods. The island was large enough in fact that it had its own transportation system in the form of a rail that went through the entire city and had stops at different parts of the main base building

From the stair case, a long straight path meters wide that even giants would be comfortable to walk down sat that lead directly to the plaza. From the path, the large spiral mountains could be seen that was on the next elevated level

To the sides of this path, were buildings and the beginnings roads and lanes that lead into the city proper. At the first level, was the lower ranked housing, businesses, and other miscellaneous structures. Compact, tight, but walkable.

From the same bath down the middle, another Stair case sat that lead up to the next section of the city. The most populated aspect hat had large building highrises, brick, concrete, wood, and metal with class and a unified style of both brutalist and brice romanesque.

This level had its own spirals that were surrounded by greenery and nature, serving as points of interest with in the second level

The Transportation system was capable of traveling between levels via tunnels that went into the walls and up to the next level.

Finally from the final set of stairs down the middle path, the mountain spires full able to be seen. Nearly a 200 meters tall, greenery sat around their bases with artificial lakes and natural grass and trees like a park.

The Spires themselves served as lookouts as well as respite.

Around them were much more expensive looking living quarters where the highest paid and ranked military personnel lived.

In the middle of these buildings, was the plaza. Where Azar currently sat on the scaffolding. The Plaza was enormous and distinctly disconnected from the 'city' at its side. As was the main base directly behind the plaza

Large half circle walls sat at the top of the plaza, serving as a barrier and open gate to pass into the main base

Th Main Base, known as 'Ingens' was massive. Larger than even the citadel or the top of Imperious Styx. It was a massive arcology structure in the style of both brutalist with baroque detailing.

In front of the main base was 5 buildings that were crucial in the operations in the entire base. From the end of the plaza gate it went as follows

Two diagonal rectangular buildings. Both of these buildings formed a 'v' shape if viewed from high enough up in the air. The internal floors of the left building served as Communications in all forms. From Den Den, to Radio, to interisland and intraisland information

The Building on the Right sat as the embassy for the Cipher Pol Agency. Everything required for the operations of the CPA was done from that building.

Two more buildings parallel to each other, and right behind the diagonal buildings were enormous block tower highrises. One of them was the archives. Where the archives of Marine Operations and day to day paper work was done or sent too. From budget, to maintenance logs, training regiment records and others. The more sensitive. The lower to the ground. With the most sensitive being underground. With a corridor connecting directly to the main base as to prevent any sensitive information from being transported across the surface

The opposite building was the opposite of the Archives. It was where the more 'office' operations of the Marines were done. Entire floors of computers; Individuals doing calculations by hand in tandem with machines for operations. There was also entire floors of type writers for orders, missions, and bureaucratic operations for the base. This one building had pneumatic tubes that went from it, to all across the main building to deliver and receive orders.

Finally, the clock tower. The clock tower, also known as 'Tempor' was the structure that sat between the Archives and Office. It was an ancient structure. One of the first things built when the island was originally constructed.

Aesthetically, the tower was much more grand in its construction of metal and wood than its surroundings. A large 4 faced clock sat on each of its sides. Displaying the time 'of justice'. When it was originally made, it was meant to be symbolic of Justice and thus the Navy having both all the time they needed, and that they were inevitable.

At 7pm, when dusk began, the clock would chime its massive bell at the top of the tower left open to the air 3 times. Each ring representing the times of the day.

When there was a tragedy. Such as the death of a Celestial Dragon, a High Ranking Marine, or such as the attack on the citadel months earlier. It was rung 7 times. Symbolic of the 7 days of the week that the memory of the tragedy will be remembered. Or in other words, how they will never be forgotten

In the rarest of occasions. It is rung 17. Symbolizing both Declaration of War. And Transformation.

At the base of the tower, sat a large archway that lead directly to the entrance of Ingens itself. The arcology was shaped like that of a wide trapezoid. With another Trapezoid sat in the middle. It was narrow and tall. Going high up into the air with the Kanji for the Marines across its surface

At the very top of this tower, sat an enormous pole holding meters large depiction of the Marine Crest. This one was not simplified in form like the logo on ships. But was expertly detailed of an anchor with the sea bird of the Naval Marines splayed in a valeant soar in front of it.

Only 5 seconds have passed since Redbeard has appeared.

One thing was certain

In spite of the monstrous island of Marine Headquarters

What was going to happen to day. The entire world would feel

And history will be changed forever.
