Chapter 74 - - Struggle Against Fate.

Earlier.

(I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die.)

Those were Frizz's internal mantra while he's slowly dying, watching as a heavy-hulking man approached with a big grin on his face. He tried to crawl away, but he couldn't move or lift his arm.

In his chest was almost a wide hole, carved by Matthew. He couldn't fathom why he was still alive, but he wasn't going to question it at this point.

He ignored the system notification, staring into the distance.

There were civilians running away from the scene. He tried calling for them, but he couldn't speak; it was as if his mouth was locked. He wanted to cry for help.

He wanted to run away as he felt his heart slowly losing life as he bled from the wounds.

(Help me, someone, please. Help me, someone, please. Help me, someone, please. Help me, someone, please. Help me, someone, please.

Cheng Gou smiled as he approached. He felt invigorated upon seeing his hated enemy, who had cost him a lot of lives and shame, dying.

"Tsk, tsk. What a poor puppy." He muttered, crouching and widening his grin even further.

(Dad, Mom, Weng, and Ryan. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for stealing money when I was in college, I'm sorry for running away when I was in high school, I'm sorry for not being a good role model for Ryan, I'm sorry for being a disappointment to Weng, and I'm sorry for not showing up at that job interview. I'm sorry for punching that expensive television. I'm sorry for always blaming Weng for everything. I'm sorry for shouting at you, Mom. I'm sorry for harassing that poor Korean kid you bought over years ago. I'm sorry for not providing a lot of money. I'm sorry for being a deadbeat. I'm sorry for always eating a lot. I'm sorry for killing a lot of people. I'm sorry for getting arrogant. I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for not being responsible. I'm sorry for wasting my potential. I am sorry.)

Frizz stared at that sadistic grin while apologizing for every mistake that he could think of, as his life slowly faded away. He then decided that he couldn't die like this and forcefully summoned every last strength that he could to grab onto that face.

"Wha-!?" *Crack!*

Frizz squeezed as hard as he could, showing a final defiant moment. In a single second, Cheng's face was crumpled, the skin stretched and ripped.

"AAAHHH! You stupid fuck!"

Cheng Gou cried, instantly standing up and sending a single powerful stomp on Frizz's head, somewhat burying it in the pavement.

"AAAHHH, that stupid fuck. My fucking face. It fucking hurts!"

Cheng Gou screamed, his face was heavily bleeding, and his skin was barely hanging on. Matthew approached Cheng but stepped back in disgust upon seeing the bloody sight.

"Jesus, he did that?" Matthew said, slightly surprised but with a mocking tone.

"YES! HELP ME!"

Matthew sighed and repeatedly rubbed his hands together, causing a light green hue to cover his hands. "Cure Wounds." He muttered, placing his hands on Cheng's back.

"After you're done screaming, lift this body onto the truck. The authorities are coming, and I don't want to deal with them." Matthew added, noticing a slight flinch in Frizz's body.

"Impressive, he's still alive." He whispered, walking away with a smirk.

Cheng, whose face was still healing, then lifted Frizz, following Matthew. "He's going to ruin my clothes with all this blood coming out of him."

"I can feel it. The latent potential within this guy." Cheng said while carrying Frizz on his shoulder. He couldn't help but chuckle. "No wonder the boss wanted this guy."

"With that, they could finally become a first-rate leveler and also ascend us as second-rate levelers." Matthew cheerfully added while noticing his partner's doubtful expression.

"I feel some hesitance. May I remind you that the boss hasn't failed us yet? He delivered on all his promises. He's a decent leader."

Matthew added with a hint of admiration and was already immersed in his daydreaming.

"He delivered on your promises, not mine."

Cheng Gou whispered, clicking his tongue, anxious about what was to come. He didn't trust their boss.

"--ugh..." Frizz whimpered, coughing up blood.

Cheng Gou smiled, shrugging away his concerns. "Will you die? How long are you going to hang on? You almost have a hole in your chest. How are you alive at this point!?"

"Why don't you just kill him?"

Matthew added, climbing onto the truck and searching for the keys. "Where the hell did I put it!?" He said, sighing heavily.

Cheng considered it but deliberately chose to let his hated enemy bleed.

"Nah, it's better if he bleeds to death. I want to watch him gasp for air as he dies." Cheng tossed Frizz on the truck. "This is very, very, very personal for me."

Frizz glared at the cloudy sky; it was going to rain soon.

For a moment, he felt peace and serenity. He finally accepted his fate that he was going to die. A slight smile escaped him, thinking of the things he managed to do while being a second-rate leveler.

The system notification suddenly appeared. This time, it was red and glowing. He ignored it, staring at the cloudy sky instead. He felt his heart beat for the last time then the life in his eyes disappeared.
