Elena POV:
"You've earned this," he said, his voice low and possessive. "It's time for me to mark you, Elena. As a sign that we're... together."
I took another step back, the fear in my chest rising. "Mark you?" My voice cracked. "What the fuck do you mean, 'mark you'? I'm not marking you. I'm not doing any of this. This is insane."
He didn't listen. His eyes were wild now, as though this was the only thing that made sense to him. "This is how it's supposed to be. You're mine, Elena. And you're going to claim me just like I will. You're going to take what's rightfully yours."
"No, Damon," I spat, shaking my head. "No. I'm not yours."
He froze at that, the words hitting him like a slap across the face. His eyes narrowed, the look of anger deepening. "What did you say?"
