Funeral!
The number of funerals she's attended from childhood to adulthood can be counted on one hand, yet she never expected to attend her own.
Meng Jingyi stood behind a cypress tree, watching from afar as Mr. and Mrs. Meng lowered her coffin into the ground, watching friends and relatives lay flowers for her, and seeing Meng Mu crying her heart out. She wanted to cry but had no tears.
When she was alive, she thought that when a person died, it was like a lamp going out, leaving nothing behind. She never expected that there really was a soul after death.
But now she is just an empty shell, unable to even give them a hug, or stand in the sunlight.
The music at the funeral was overwhelmingly sorrowful. Meng Jingyi felt deeply sad, with many people she couldn't let go of, deeply worried about her parents. How would they cope without her?
