Chapter 28 - Change 28

Seeing this, Su Ming-Yu glared at Han Nari fiercely. He wanted to push her away with a look of disgust.

Realizing his intention, Han Nari stood on her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around Su Ming-Yu's neck, and lightly kissed his cheek.

She whispered in a pleading voice, "Help me... I can't let that guy take me away..."

Her eyes were filled with desperation.

Su Ming-Yu sighed, feeling a little helpless. He casually glanced at Cha Joo-wan and noticed with some disappointment how unpleasant the man seemed.

Holding Han Nari by her slender waist, Su Ming-Yu pretended to be concerned.

"Why did you drink so much? Didn't you say that you were only here to discuss business, not to drink?"

Although she knew that Su Ming-Yu was acting, Han Nari couldn't help the fluttering in her heart.

A happy smile crept across her face. She stood on her tiptoes and gave Su Ming-Yu a playful peck on the cheek.

"I had a great time talking to President Cha today and ended up having a few drinks. Darling, don't be mad!"

With the alcohol adding to her boldness, Han Nari clung to Su Ming-Yu like a koala, resting her head on his shoulder.

Su Ming-Yu glanced at Cha Joo-wan and recognized him.

He was the classic villain of Brave New World, a greedy and sleazy son of a chaebol.

Cha Joo-wan's expression darkened as he stared at them, his eyes filled with hostility.

He took a deep breath and said coldly, "Sir, if I'm not mistaken, you were just sitting at the table behind us!"

He gestured at Kang Suyeon with a sharp look, then turned to Han Nari.

"Quite the display... You watched your 'friend' with another woman and still acted like nothing was wrong, chatting with me."

Cha Joo-wan's words cut deep, his anger was obvious.

Su Ming-Yu, however, was unperturbed; he was just helping Han Nari out of a tight spot.

Cha Joo-wan's face twisted in irritation.

"Miss Han, I thought you were an ambitious person who was willing to make sacrifices to achieve her dreams. But clearly, I misjudged you. I'm disappointed. If you can't give me a proper explanation, I guarantee you won't be an intern."

With that, Cha Joo-wan turned on his heel and left.

Han Nari felt like she had hit rock bottom. She lay on Su Ming-Yu's shoulder and pretended to sleep to escape the painful reality.

But for the first time in a long time, resting on Su Ming-Yu's shoulder gave her a sense of peace.

Unfortunately, that peace was short-lived when Su Ming-Yu's cold voice interrupted.

"He's gone. You don't need to keep pretending."

His words snapped Han Nari out of her stupor. She reluctantly pulled herself up from Su Ming-Yu's shoulder, a bitter smile on her face.

This once proud and cold beauty had tears in her eyes. Then, suddenly overcome with emotion, she collapsed into Su Ming-Yu's arms and began to cry, her shoulders shaking with each sob.

Su Ming-Yu sighed helplessly.

"Please! Don't cry like that. People will think I did something to you..." he said, sounding desperate.

But the more he spoke, the more Han Nari cried.

Kang Suyeon, who was sitting nearby, looked at Han Nari in Su Ming-Yu's arms and felt a pang of jealousy.

She had an unsettling feeling as if something precious was slipping away from her.

Biting her lip, she finally stood up and walked over to Su Ming-Yu.

With a soft voice, she called softly from behind Han Nari, "Sunbae Nari.

Seeing Kang Suyeon's actions, Su Ming-Yu's eyes showed a hint of approval. He nodded in satisfaction.

The sound of Kang Suyeon's voice made Han Nari's crying stop abruptly.

Immediately, a subtle tension filled the room.
