Beta stood at the edge of the deep crater she'd just punched into the beach, sand still sliding down the walls like slow waterfalls. Her fists were covered in green blood and dust, but she looked completely fine—happy, even. She took a big breath, puffed out her chest, and screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Next!"
Her voice echoed across the whole beach. Every monster still left standing turned to look at her. The ones closest to the crater took one look at the flattened mess that used to be the serpent, then at Beta's huge grin, and their legs started shaking.
"What kind of monster is that?" one goblin squeaked, voice cracking. He took a quick step back, then another. His club slipped from his fingers and hit the sand with a soft thud.
That was all it took.
