Mega Blaziken took a powerful stride forward, its legs igniting with a "whoosh" sound. Completely ignoring the Gallade it had just kicked away, Blaziken charged directly toward Atticus.
Wild Battle rules targeted the Trainer's defeat as a win condition!
"Crabhammer!" Atticus quickly grabbed a Poké Ball to defend himself.
A red Crawdaunt burst from the Poké Ball, its massive claw surrounded by flowing water as it collided head-on with Mega Blaziken's Blaze Kick.
"BOOM!" The impact resonated throughout the arena.
The power difference between the two was immediately apparent!
Crawdaunt was sent flying backward, nearly crashing into its Trainer. At the critical moment, Bronzong emerged from its Poké Ball voluntarily and used Teleport to rescue Atticus.
Without this intervention, Atticus would likely have been pinned against the wall by his own Crawdaunt!
"Such power?" Atticus was bewildered. When Mega Blaziken fought Gallade earlier, he had roughly gauged its strength.
Even if his Crawdaunt was somewhat weaker, the difference shouldn't have been this dramatic.
It couldn't even withstand the attack for a second or two?
Of course not!
Had Atticus voiced these thoughts, Chris would have explained directly.
The previous High Jump Kick had been empowered by Force Palm, but this Blaze Kick was enhanced by the Mach Punch technique!
Without concern for endurance, this technique delivered a more devastating initial strike!
Crawdaunt possessed decent attack power, but "decent" was insufficient against Mega Blaziken, especially when facing a Mach Punch-enhanced kick.
If Crawdaunt hadn't been sent flying instantly, it would have only meant Mega Blaziken was holding back!
"Houndoom, Mega Evolve!"
After seeing Gallade and Crawdaunt dispatched one after another, Atticus finally played his trump card.
Houndoom leaped from its Poké Ball surrounded by dark flames, immediately enveloped by the prismatic light of Mega Evolution. As the light faded, Mega Houndoom appeared.
The most striking difference between Mega Houndoom and its regular form was the white bone armor across its chest, giving it a more imposing presence—truly resembling a ferocious hound guarding the gates of the underworld!
But upon its arrival, what greeted Mega Houndoom wasn't Mega Blaziken's powerful kicks, but a towering Surf wave over ten meters high.
While Mega Blaziken had been attacking Atticus, Chris hadn't remained idle.
He had sent out Greninja, who immediately used Surf, creating a massive azure water wall!
Mega Blaziken instantly pushed off with both feet, executing a Bounce that carried it high into the air—not only evading the wave but also positioning for its next attack.
Atticus hurriedly ascended skyward with Bronzong's Teleport and was caught by his Totem Honchkrow with outstretched wings.
Gallade, having just recovered from being slammed into the wall, also used Teleport to reach safety in the air.
Thus, the only targets of the Surf attack were Crawdaunt and Mega Houndoom!
Crawdaunt could handle it, possessing Water-type alongside its Dark-type, giving it resistance to water moves. But Mega Houndoom...
Mega Evolution hadn't changed its typing. As a Fire/Dark-type, it was vulnerable to Water moves, and its Dark typing prevented it from being teleported. It could only face the Surf attack head-on!
"Hyper Beam!"
Mega Houndoom opted to counter force with overwhelming force!
Its beam erupted, bright as the sun, seemingly capable of evaporating and shattering everything in its path!
But in the next moment, a light blue figure streaked from within the wave, riding alongside the Hyper Beam before piercing toward Mega Houndoom's chest!
It was Greninja!
Surf? Merely a diversion!
The real attack was "Night Slash"!
Greninja had concealed itself within Surf, accelerated with Aqua Jet, and struck with Night Slash!
A perfect surprise attack on Mega Houndoom!
"CLANG!" The dark blade struck the white bone armor with a resonating sound.
Mega Houndoom was knocked backward, while Greninja was pushed back by the impact's recoil.
A single Night Slash couldn't defeat a Mega-Evolved Houndoom. As Greninja rebounded, about to sink into the collapsing Surf wave, Water Shuriken materialized in its hand.
"Whirrr..."
The metallic sound of spinning stars!
Mega Houndoom was struck so severely it reverted from its Mega form. Though not completely defeated, it fell into a "flinched" state.
Mega Blaziken, positioned overhead, immediately descended with a devastating kick to finish Houndoom!
Atticus wouldn't allow Mega Blaziken to succeed.
"Hurricane!"
Honchkrow flapped its wings powerfully, generating a Hurricane aimed at Mega Blaziken!
Mega Blaziken was forced to adjust mid-air, using Blaze Kick to counter the incoming Hurricane.
Nevertheless, Houndoom still lost its ability to battle.
It was struck by an Aura Sphere—a standard one from Hariyama.
Though Hariyama could only use the spiral Aura Sphere once per battle, regular Aura Spheres remained in its arsenal.
Even after being weakened by Parting Shot, the Fighting-type Aura Sphere dealt super-effective damage to the Dark-type Houndoom, proving too much for it to withstand!
Houndoom wasn't the only Pokemon rendered unable to battle.
Crawdaunt, who had hoped to endure the Surf attack, also fell.
Atticus had underestimated Mega Blaziken's power. Even though the Fire-type Blaze Kick was not very effective against the Water-type Crawdaunt, it still inflicted serious damage and triggered a burn status. This additional damage was the final blow.
The question wasn't whether Crawdaunt could withstand Surf—it never had the chance to face the wave at all!
Without pursuing further, Mega Blaziken jumped back to Chris's side.
Steam rose from the battlefield as the ten-meter wave, partially dissipated by Mega Houndoom's Hyper Beam, crashed onto the scorched earth with audible hissing as it evaporated.
Atticus descended to the ground with Honchkrow.
He had four Pokemon remaining: Honchkrow, Weavile, Bronzong, and Gallade.
His team composition was clear—a combination of four Dark-types plus two Psychic-types, a reasonable strategy. The secondary typings of his Pokemon countered the weaknesses of his Dark-types.
Just as Chris prepared to launch his next attack, Atticus raised a white flag and called out, "I surrender!"
