"Because I'm about to resign as a Gym Trainer," Robert said unexpectedly.

"Huh?" Chris was taken aback, wondering if he had heard it wrong.

Robert's daughters were not surprised at all—they already knew about this. Trevor, however, was shocked that his master would entrust such a treasure to Chris.

This treasure had long been the cause of fierce competition among the direct disciples of the Star Moon Gym, each striving to claim it for themselves. Yet, in the end, it was Chris who unexpectedly gained it.

Trevor had assumed that his brother, Chris, would ultimately benefit, and he found no difficulty in accepting it.

"When I was young, I promised my wife that I would take her to see the wonders of the world.

I originally planned to wait until retirement to fulfill that promise, but her recent illness has made me realize something important—some things, some people, cannot wait forever. She has remained in one place, waiting for me all these years."

"It's too late now. I can only do my best to seize the time we have left and fulfill my promise."

"So, I am resigning from my position as a Gym Trainer to take my wife on a journey around the world in her remaining time—to witness the beauty of this world together and create lasting memories for the future."

Robert spoke calmly, showing that this decision had been thoroughly considered.

Chris was amazed by Robert's reasoning—by his unwavering devotion and long-held commitment.

"I'm not interested in climbing the ranks, and I'm no longer a Gym Trainer, so this flower holds no value to me.

I needed to find a trainer with real potential to inherit it, ensuring that such a treasure wouldn't be wasted."

"At first, I searched for a suitable heir among my own disciples in the gym.

Until I saw you."

"After learning that you are Master Vladimir's apprentice, I included you in my considerations.

After all, I obtained this legendary flower with Master Vladimir's help back then, so you have every right to inherit it."

"In that battle, you did not disappoint me.

You surpassed my disciples.

A trainer who had only been at Dragon University for less than half a year had already become a junior breeder—oh, wait, now you're an Senior breeder—and you even managed to defeat my second team Pokémon. Your talent and potential surpass any of my gym's disciples."

"So, when it comes to inheriting this legendary flower, you are the best choice."

Robert withheld another reason.

If he gave the legendary flower to one of his apprentices, they wouldn't have the power or influence to protect it. But Chris was different—he was the disciple of a renowned master.

Not to mention Master Vladimir's influence, even among his students, there were Elite-level trainers, numerous Gym Trainers, and experts in various fields.

With such a strong backing, there was no concern about Chris possessing a legendary Pokémon item.

By giving it to Chris, Robert not only found a worthy inheritor for the legendary flower but also repaid a favor to Master Vladimir while sparing his own disciples from potential trouble.

It was a decision that accomplished multiple goals at once.

Chris nodded in understanding.

Robert was giving him the legendary flower because he believed Chris had the support to keep it safe, and at the same time…

He was also hoping to earn a favor from Chris in return.

Chris looked down at the legendary item before him. If it was truly a legendary item, then owing Robert a favor didn't seem like a bad deal.

"Alright, then I'll accept this legendary flower. Thank you," Chris said, reaching out to grasp the flower in his palm. He was eager to see how the attributes of this flower appeared in his handheld device and whether it was truly as mysterious as Robert had described.

"You don't need the soil. For the legendary flower, keeping the roots intact doesn't seem to serve any purpose," Robert said as he pulled the flower from the ground. The lower half was bare, with no root system, much like a carefully pruned rose from a flower shop—meant only for display.

Chris brushed off the dirt and gripped the red flower directly.

A surge of pure energy burst from the flower, and in an instant, Chris felt his body and mind cleansed. A refreshing sensation washed over him, leaving him feeling invigorated!

Just as Chris was enjoying the effects of the legendary flower, a group of people entered from the backyard's side door.

Leading them was a brawny man with a strong, honest face.

"Master, have you really decided to give the legendary flower to an outsider?" the man asked in a deep voice.

Robert cast a glance at the strong man and simply said, "Yes."

"Master, may I ask why?" The man's tone remained steady, but his eyes locked onto Robert's face, searching for an answer.

"Because your talent and potential are not as great as Chris's. You wouldn't be able to protect this legendary Pokémon item," Robert stated bluntly.

"Then, can I personally experience this Trainer's so-called superior talent and potential?" the brawny man asked, his eyes filled with fighting spirit.

"Of course!" Robert agreed without hesitation, then turned to Chris.

"Chris, with your strength, defeating my apprentice shouldn't be a problem, right?"

Chris silently formed a question mark in his mind.

Is this how master-disciple conversations go?

The master owns a priceless treasure but chooses to give it to an outsider instead of his own student. Shouldn't this situation lead to some sort of rebellion?

Yet, instead of arguing, the disciple remained respectful, simply requesting a battle as proof.

And now, just like that, things had naturally transitioned into a challenge. Chris couldn't help but suspect that Robert and his disciples had planned this all along—perhaps they had always intended for him to fight for the legendary flower.

So... despite Robert's talk of giving him the flower, was he really just offering Chris a chance to earn it instead?

Either way, there was no avoiding this now.

Hmph.

Fine. If it's a battle they want, it's a battle they'll get. After all, this was just one of Robert's disciples.

"I accept your challenge!" Chris declared.
