Chapter 9 - MURDERER'S IDENTITY

Chapter Nine

"another dead one" Stanley said remorsefully and dropped tiredly on his chair.

"olamide Ajibade" he added and his gaze fell on Jericho who seemed kind of... fidgety?.

guy who died two nights ago, did you know he actually went to your apartment the morning of the incident?"

"I'm well aware of that, Angel told me about it already. She said she had felt horny that morning and called him over. How, she changed her mind at the last minute as she had suddenly felt guilty thinking about how I'd feel and had chased him out"

"and you believed her?"

"do I have a reason to doubt her?"

"oh my God, are you really my friend?, are you sure you're the Stanley Oluwanishola I know?" Jerry asked in an obvious incredulous tone.

"what's wrong with you?, what's with the unnecessary drama?"

"be frank with me, Stanley, are you in love with Angel Coker?"

"I won't say love, more like attraction. She sets me on fire" he replied sincerel

"that same fire would be the one to destroy you, Stanley. No, it already has"

"are you cursing me?"

"I'm simply stating the fact, dear friend. Tell me, when was the last time you heard from Nifemi?"

Stanley frowned in displeasure.

"why did you have to bring up that woman name?"

"just answer me already!" Jerry replied in exasperation.

"I saw her two weeks ago and the last time she called me was a week ago and that was when I finally decided to blacklist her number. She's such an annoying pest"

"oh my God!, Stanley, why are you so stupid?. Your stupidity has ruined everything!" he exclaimed and Stanley's frown deepened.

"why are you acting strange?, did something happen?"

"of course it did. Your woman who 'sets you on fire'..." he air quoted sarcastically.

"... attacked Nifemi on that same day she called olamide over"

"what?!"

"you're shocked?"

"what the hell are you saying?"

"the day Angel, no, I should start calling her devil from now on. The day she called Olamide over, Nifemi also happened to go to your house. What do you think would happen when the mistress and the legal wife meets?"

"did Nifemi beat up Angel?" Stanley asked in disbelief.

"Dude, are you a fool?, I clearly remember mentioning that Angel attacked Nifemi and you haven't even heard the worst part of the tale. 'sigh', I don't know how to say this. I don't even know how you'd take it."

"just fuckin say it all and stop beating around the bush annoyingly" he bellowed impatiently.

"don't, don't shout at me, okay?, I'm not the one in trouble here so don't you dare take it out on me. Anyway, as I was relating before, Nifemi had a miscarriage"

"WHAT?!" his shout was ear shattering, as his eyes bulged open in shock.

"she lost your child and the doctors said there's a chance she might not be able to conceive again. It's a fifty-fifty possibility so there's still hope"

"what?!" he gasped breathlessly, dumbstruck, finding it hard to formally a word.

"why.., how come you know all about this yet I don't. It all happened in my apartment first goodness sake!"

"well, your devil of a mistress was quick enough to send your wife to the hospital and clean up the mess afterwards. She's a Coker anyway. There's nothing money can't do for them"

"how did you know all about it"

"Nifemi called and told me"

"b-but I'm her husband, why didn't she bother telling me anything but told you"

"so you're just realizing you're her husband?, I thought you didn't want that title?" Jerry remarked sarcastically receiving a deadly glare from Stanley.

"you haven't even heard the worst part of it all" Jerry suddenly added, a glaring look of schadenfreude on his face.

Stanley was about to lose it

He knew if Jerry didn't tell him everything else that remained at that moment, he might end up beating him up till he ended up at the hospital.

"Baba is aware of everything. He came to town yesterday and took Nifemi to the Village for more treatment."

"my father came to the city yesterday?, how could I not have been informed?"

"isn't it good you weren't awa?, he could have murdered you had he set his eyes on you or worst, hit you with a charm that would make you go insane. He was about to explode with rage when he saw Nifemi yesterday."

Stanley felt weak from within as he stared listlessly into space.

What had he done?.

👿👿👿

He felt a strong presence in the room.

Stanley felt the urge to smirk and get out of bed but controlled himself, lest he alerted the intruder.

He had come too far to ruin everything with a single mistake.

He already had a gut feeling of who it was but wasn't too sure.

The door made a sound as it was closed and he felt the person coming close to him.

He was suddenly lifted up in the air, floating without a restraint.

It seemed he had guessed correctly.

He was right after all. That bizarre killer had come for him.

Oh, how much he had anticipated that encounter.

Finally, the case would be solved once he saw the face of the killer.

And as he'd expected, the killer was not an ordinary human and had peculiar powers.

He was dropped on the cold tile beside his bed and he suddenly felt pressure around his neck from an invisible grip.

He was choked badly and started gasping for breath.

Reaching for his pocket with great difficulty, he took out a small neatly carved lion figurine made from wood and threw it towards the direction his instinct told him.

The small red rope around the figure's neck came loose and turned into a poisoned dagger while the carved lion landed lightly on the person's body.

An ear piercing hissing sound reverberated through the whole room and the grip on Stanley's neck vanished

He expertly reached for the dagger and threw it towards the person who had an overall red hooded cloak and was holding a red knife.

The person had anticipated the action and dodged, however, he wasn't swift enough as the dagger as the dagger tore through the hood before landing on the floor.

The hood came off the person's head and Stanley was shell shocked at the face beneath it, frozen on a spot.

The person's eyes was crimson red and seemed to be controlled by an invisible force.

Due to his momentary shock, the person attacked, catching him off guard
