-Meliodas POV-
With a soft click, I closed the door of the house that's been my home for the past six years.
It hasn't even been an hour since I sent off the kids on their journeys.
Sigh
It's weird not having them around. But when you spend so much time in a single place, with the same voices, and the same faces for such a long time, you begin to become too comfortable, too rusty.
You can't do that, especially in a world like this.
And especially with a dragon flying onto your doorstep.
Yeah, it's finally time for cannon. Dvalin hasn't begun to cause trouble yet, but I could feel that it would happen soon. When you live in the country of freedom and wind for six years, you learn a few nifty tricks here and there, and one of them is to sense the wind.
It sounds weird, but it's true. It feels...restless, like as if it was warning that a huge storm was coming soon.
"Regretting your decision, my lord?" Sleipnir asked. He could obviously tell how I was feeling.
"No...it was for the best" I replied.
They weren't ready, especially not ready to fight Dvalin. He might have been severely weakened, but a dragon is a dragon, no matter the state it is in.
"At least I don't have to worry about, Esdeath" I muttered under my breath in relief as I turned around and began to walk along the decently laid out brick road of the village.
When I had changed plans of sending Esdeath from Natlan to Inazuma, I was worried that she might get caught up in the whole Inazuma civil war. So, to alleviate that worry, I sent Crepus to Inazuma with her.
Now I can focus on myself and have some fun!
Huh, I'm twenty-three and already in my retirement vacation after kicking my kids out the house...
"Mr. Meliodas!" a cheerful voice suddenly called out to me as I was about to walk out the village.
(A/N: And no, it isn't Elizabeth...not yet at least)
She was a cute girl with long dark brown hair, orange-gold eyes, and fair skin. She wore a sort of red and brown leather corset with the Favonius Knight's insignia engraved on it, along with a cute hair band where the ends look like a pair of bunny ears.
And them legs, Mhm-Mhm-Mhm!
Finally, she wore a pair of brown shorts that hugged her thighs and gave her body a lot of freedom to move around. As needed to be an Outride.
"Hey, Buny. Heading to Mondstadt?" I greeted back to the cheerful girl as she ran at me full speed.
"Geez, don't call me that!" she shouted in embarrassment, her faced flushed. Buny was a nickname I had given her due to her headband thing looking like bunny ears.
She absolutely hated it when I called her that, not like it stopped me from doing it. heh~.
"And no, I'm going straight to work!" She declared, her chest puffed out in pride as she was literally the single person keeping the whole "Outrider" career alive.
"Good, be careful though...wouldn't want the wind kicking you off a cliff" I replied, I didn't want to tell her about Dvalin's attack since that would make me look suspicious, thus the cryptic message.
"...That was super ominous" she said as she narrowed her eyes at me in suspicion. "Anyways...where's Violet? I didn't see her reading one of her books on your front porch this morning" Amber asked in curiosity.
Amber was pretty close to most of my kids, she was especially close to Violet. I think Amber has a thing for serious or aloof girls.
No wonder she became friends with Eula in the first place.
"They left" I informed her, she won't be seeing them for a long time.
"They left? They went to the city?" She asked, confused as to what I meant by "They Left"
"Nope, they're gone. They've left Mondstadt"
"...EHHHHHHH!!!????"
Damn Amber's loud. She's lucky that she's cute, otherwise I would have taped up her mouth with [Reishi].
-3rd POV-
"Oh God this is fucking good!" Meliodas said between muffled bites of his sandwich.
For the past week Meliodas has been staying in in one of the inns in the city, waiting for disaster to strike. He knew it wasn't long for the oversized lizard to come and cause trouble. And right now, he was sitting on one of the tables of the outdoors dinner that was near the place he was staying at.
"You seem to be enjoying that sandwich a little bit too much..." The pirate commented as he rested his head on his hand, his elbow on the table helping keep his massive forehead up.
"Shut up Kaeya, there's nothing wrong with the enjoyment of tasting" Meliodas retorted. One of the best things about living in a fantasy world is that everything, and I mean EVRYTHING, tastes better.
Kaeya chuckled, finding Meliodas's seriousness about food amusing.
"Anyway, what's the commission? I was surprised when I heard from the guild that the Knights of Favonius themselves had requested for my help"
After Meliodas temporarily retired from parenthood, he had decided that he would also temporarily retire from being an adventurer to have fun. Meaning he would turn down all the requests were he was specifically requested for.
Well, at least that was the plan until Catherine informed him that the Knights of Favonius had requested for his help.
"Well, it isn't a commission directly made by the Knight's per se, it was made by the librarian" Kaeya revealed as the waiter brough him the glass of wine he had ordered earlier
"The cougar?!" Meliodas said in surprise, he didn't expect Lisa to be the one making the request.
Meliodas has met Lisa on a few occasions here and there before. Most of the time it ended with Lisa hitting on him. It's not like he didn't like it, but...let's just say that Meliodas doesn't like putting his dick in sadistic crazy unless it's really worth it.
Meliodas could see Lisa turning the tables in bed. The pegger becomes the pegged. And that thought striked fear into his heart.
"PFFT!!" Kaeya couldn't help but spit out the sip of wine he had taken into his mouth as he heard the name Meliodas had called Lisa.
'If she ever hears him call her that...' Kaeya thought grimly in his mind. There were only a few things in his life that he feared, Lisa was one of them
Meliodas pated Kaeya's back, helping him pass down the wine that had fallen down the wrong pipe along the wine that had gotten up his nose when he had spit.
As Kaeya finally calmed down and wiped his hand and nose with a napkin, he looked at Meliodas "Do be careful with your words...that woman has eyes and ears everywhere" he warned as he didn't want his fellow friend to face Lisa's wrath and also not get caught up as collateral damage.
"Yeah, I will. anyways, why ask me though?" Meliodas asked as he dismissed Kaeya's warning. He was still in retirement (Temporary) but he didn't mind coming out if it really quick if it helped Mondstadt as a whole.
"Well why wouldn't we? Afterall, you are the only rank 60 adventurer in Mondstadt" Kaeya claimed, but Meliodas knew that it was because Lisa wanted to see him again.
And also, yes, Meliodas is the one and only Adventurer Rank 60 in the whole of Mondstadt, which is the max rank an adventurer could reach. And there are few in the whole of Teyvat. Infact, the current living rank 60's could all be counted in two hands.
Of course, it doesn't mean that Meliodas was the only strong person here in Mondstadt as Grandmaster Varka was also on par with, or even stronger than Guild Level 60 adventurers.
Let me break down for 'ya how the Adventurer Guild works.
Basically, there are a total of 60 levels in which you complete commissions issued by the guild to level up. Each 10 levels, you are required to complete a special test or request by the Adventure Guild to prove that you are worthy and capable to take on rank 11-20 commissions.
And if you still don't understand the guild hierarchy, let me put it in terms you will probably understand.
Rank 0=F Rank Adventurer
Rank 1--->10=E Rank Adventurer
Rank 11--->20=D Rank Adventurer
Rank 21--->30=C Rank Adventurer
Rank 31--->40=B Rank Adventurer
Rank 41--->50=A Rank Adventurer
Rank 51--->60=S Rank Adventurer
Higher the rank you are, the more dangerous and more profitable request you can access.
"Yeah, yeah, quit the flattering and get to the point" Meliodas said as he was getting annoyed by Kaeya's sarcastic praising.
"The Librarian has informed me that she has sensed a disturbance in Mondstadt's Leylines. She wants you to go out and investigate them personally and report back your findings" Kaeya explained.
"Oh? If that's the case, you won't be needing my services" Meliodas replied as he stood up from his chair. He had finally finished his meal, and it was time to leave.
"We won't?" Kaeya asked in confusion.
Meliodas only smiled slightly and pointed towards the empty sky behind him, his eyes lingering somewhere else.

Before Kaeya could even get the chance to turn round and see what Meliodas was pointing at, a massive and menacing shadow loomed over both of them, the air around them vibrating violently as a deafening roar manifested above in the sky.
"ROARRRRR!!!"
"Ah fuck..." Kaye didn't even need to turn around to know that whatever was in the sky was going to be a problem.
