For the past few days, Sophia had stared at the same white wall, listening to the same beeping of the monitor beside her bed. Her hands were always on her stomach protectively as if shielding her baby from the silence that had swallowed the world around her.
Camilla hadn't visited. Not even Ethan hadn't visited too. Even the nurses seemed to come and go with emotionless faces.
At first, she had waited.
Then, she had begged to see Ethan or Camilla.
And now… now she was just trying to keep breathing.
Every time the door opened, she hoped it would be Ethan. She told herself over and over that he was just busy and that maybe his parents had forbidden him from seeing her. She knew his parents would try to be difficult and not understanding at the moment.
That was what she tried to calm herself down, but deep down, she knew something was wrong.
