"Big sis's Lopunny lost... That Bellossom was so strong. And that guy named Sato—his alertness was top-notch too. Lopunny was just one step away from turning the tables... what a pity," Gary said, looking dejected as he watched Daisy's Lopunny fall despite its final counterattack.

"Lopunny already did her best! Wow, both Bellossom and Lopunny were amazing! One day, I'm gonna raise awesome Pokémon like big bro Sato and big sis Daisy!"

Next to Gary, Ash's face also showed a trace of disappointment, but it was quickly replaced by excited shouting. His eyes sparkled with admiration as he looked at Sato and Daisy.

Sigh~ As expected, Ash is much more suited to be a Trainer than Gary...

Watching the two boys from nearby, Professor Oak quietly sighed in his heart.

His grandson had outstanding talent—he'd already mastered a wealth of Pokémon knowledge at such a young age, and he was composed and mature.

But perhaps due to being praised too often since childhood, he was overly concerned with others' opinions and always had too many thoughts in his head. Most importantly, he lacked a genuine love for Pokémon.

Ash, on the other hand, was the opposite. Though his talent wasn't quite on par with Gary's and he was often careless and impulsive, he had a pure heart and an endless love for Pokémon. Just those two qualities alone meant he would go far on the path of a Trainer.

"Come back, Lopunny. You did great. Thank you for your hard work."

Daisy showed only the briefest flash of disappointment when Lopunny lost. She pulled out a PokeBall and recalled Lopunny, then gently spoke to the ball in her hand, her tone soft and comforting.

"Mr. Sato, your Bellossom is truly impressive. But I won't go down so easily. Let's keep going at full strength. I'm counting on you, Infernape."

After a brief moment, Daisy stowed Lopunny's PokeBall away. Her expression turned serious as she spoke to Sato, then sent out a Pokémon—an Infernape wearing a blazing fire gem around its neck.

Infernape's entrance was dramatic and awe-inspiring. It shot out of the PokeBall in a streak of white light, then erupted in intense blue flames. Slowly, it descended from the sky, wreathed in searing fire.

Even after landing, the blue flames surrounding Infernape didn't subside. His entire body was cloaked in this fiery aura, and the heat radiating from him seemed endless.

Within moments, the temperature on the battlefield soared. Within a ten-meter radius around Infernape, stumps and weeds began to dry out and ignite.

In just a dozen seconds, nearly half of the battlefield was engulfed in flames.

'What incredible control over Fire-type energy… Such powerful flames. Even if his potential isn't quite on par with the berserk-mode Infernape that Ash will one day catch, this one can't be far off. And judging by the look of things, under Daisy's training, he's already awakened some of his latent power and is using the fire gem's near-limitless energy to its fullest.'

Even without using the system's scan ability, Sato could already tell this Infernape was no ordinary Pokémon. He couldn't help but be impressed.

And sure enough, when Sato did use the system to scan Infernape, he was even more impressed.

...…..

From these stats and skills alone, it was clear—this Level 47 Infernape, equipped with a vast move pool and impressive IVs, was undoubtedly Daisy's ace Pokémon raised during her time in the Sinnoh region.

"Return, Bellossom. You've done enough. Leave Infernape to another teammate."

Faced with such a fearsome opponent, Sato wasn't foolish enough to have Bellossom—who was both under-leveled and at a major type disadvantage—go up against Infernape. He immediately called her back to rest.

The moment Bellossom heard Sato's call, she let out a breath of relief and quickly ran back to his side. The heat pouring off of Infernape was far too overwhelming—she wanted nothing to do with that fight.

Daisy showed no change in her expression as she watched Sato wisely recall Bellossom, but a flicker of disappointment passed through her eyes.

"Go, Swampert. I'm counting on you to take on this tough opponent."

As soon as he recalled Bellossom, Sato pulled out another PokeBall and sent out Swampert.

Which Pokémon would be best to counter Infernape? For Sato, it was a no-brainer. The Water/Ground-type Swampert was a natural nemesis to Fire/Fighting-type Infernape.

In the next moment, the massive Swampert—more than twice Infernape's size—appeared on the battlefield. As soon as he arrived, the rising heat across the battlefield came to a halt and began to drop.

The flames that had been spreading across the area suddenly stopped at a ten-meter radius around Swampert. The ones that had already reached that area quickly fizzled out.

"Graaa~"

Most Infernape were naturally combative—and Daisy's was no exception. Even upon seeing an opponent with an absolute type advantage, he showed no fear. Instead, his battle spirit surged as he loudly challenged Swampert to a fight.

"So, you really did send out Swampert... Well then, let me see what your Swampert is capable of."

Daisy sighed inwardly. She had expected Sato to send out Swampert to counter her Infernape, and she couldn't help but feel a little helpless about it.

Sending out Infernape as her second Pokémon was a move made out of necessity.

Bellossom had already completed two Quiver Dance buffs and was close to a third. If she sent out a Pokémon without enough threat level, Sato might not have recalled Bellossom at all.

If that happened, her remaining two Pokémon would likely have been swept one after another by Bellossom, resulting in a 3-0 loss. If that really happened, it'd be a serious blow to her pride.

Facing Infernape's provocative challenge, Swampert appeared utterly calm. But the fighting spirit in his eyes was unmistakable. As soon as he entered, he raised his arms and quietly began to use Rain Dance.

Moments later, to Daisy's visible frustration, dark clouds rapidly began to form over the battlefield.

Drip— A raindrop fell from the clouds.

And then, a heavy downpour began, dousing the flames across the battlefield and sending up white plumes of steam that quickly blanketed the entire area.

At that moment, Professor Oak, acting as referee, announced the official start of the battle.
