Asthey sat in silence, gazing at the peaceful scene before them, Aurora finally spoke, her voice soft but troubled.
"When do we intend to return to the palace? Everyone must be worried sick about us."
Her eyes never left the tranquil view ahead.
"I never meant for things to unfold this way," Stephen replied, his voice calm, "but since they have, why not take a moment to relish it?" Aurora shook her head, worry creasing her brow.
"No, no, Stephen. You know the Queen will be beside herself with worry." She reached for his hand, attempting to pull him to his feet, but his weight proved too much for her.
"Come onnnn," she drawled, laughing breathlessly at the effort.
Stephen merely watched her, amused by her struggle.
Then, with one swift movement, he pulled her toward him. She stumbled and fell against his chest.
"What are—" He silenced her with a kiss.
"Let us enjoy the stillness of nature for just a few more minutes," he murmured against her lips.
