"You do sound selfish, Xu Qi. My job as Lady Qin's protector constitutes risking myself for her safety," Qinglin replied with a gentle tease, her eyes gleaming with affection. "But I'll keep that in mind. I will make sure to survive no matter what kind of danger we encounter if only to hear your sweet words again."
Xu Qi couldn't restrain himself from reaching for her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze before teasing her back. "Then I'll have to make sure my words are always sweeter than honey to keep you coming back for more."
Qinglin looked away as she attempted to prevent her face from reacting more at his intimate gesture.
