"Did you go on a trip with Mommy without Jesse and me?"
"Uh, no. I went with this uncle to get ice cream, but I don't really remember what happened."
"An uncle came to see you? An uncle came to see us too. He said you both had a lot of fun together."
United again, Keira and Zade jumped around the house, hugging and kissing each other on the cheek.
As if allergic to their overly affectionate reunion, Jesse followed after them, smiling with his eyes and occasionally patting Keira on the cheek, as if to confirm she was real.
Jett, Kelsie, Daniel, and Eric watched them quietly from the living room.
After a while, Eric lowered his eyes to the surveillance footage playing on the screen, showing a footage of a man casually leaving the apartment building through the gate.
"He was smart enough not to drive in with a car and walked out. He avoided looking toward all the cameras. Didn't look up the entire time he came or left."
Jett's eyes dimmed.
