Ross studied her for a long moment, then nodded.
"Fine. But now that you're well fed…" His eyes glinted mischievously as he pushed his chair back and stood.

Laura's eyes widened as he approached. She raised a hand nervously.

Her protest was cut short. His shadow fell over her, and before she could finish her sentence, Ross leaned down and pressed his lips to hers.
