Lois bit her lip. She knew Laura well enough to realize that a vague warning wouldn't cut it.
"Because Ross is not who you think he is. He's dangerous. Last night—"
She hesitated for only a second before forcing the words out.
She told Laura everything: the unexpected knock at midnight, the smug smile, the way his eyes roamed her body without shame.
She repeated his crude words, his twisted threat about finding a 'replacement' in Laura, and the venom in his voice when he said she would be calling him brother-in-law.
When Lois finally stopped, the silence on the other end was heavier than she expected.
"I see," Laura said at last, her tone unreadable.
"Laura, I'm serious—don't meet him." Lois's voice cracked, fear bleeding through.
Her sister gave a small, almost dismissive laugh.
