Chapter 7 - Emilia Camp

It was the night, the sky was beautiful for a world like this, Stars twinkled, it was peaceful, almost like a calm before the storm.

Then there was on a Clip Edge looking down was Aiden and his group, as they all looked down at a camp, with a barrier, torches lighting things up for light.

They all looked down and saw the banner floating in the wind, as they looked at each other.

Aiden was the first to speak. "Well, everyone, we have reached Emilia Camp."

Radomira looked at him as she spoke. "Are you sure this is her camp, and not just one of her many Soldier camps?".

Aiden's slimy body moved on Fenrir as he spoke. "Not sure, it's 50/50, but I believe in the odds".

The camp below flickered with life — soldiers moving between tents, patrols circling the barrier, the faint clamor of weapons being sharpened. From their vantage point, the world looked like a fragile ember fighting against the vast darkness.

Radomira folded her arms, her tone cautious.

"If this is really Emilia's main camp, then walking in like this is reckless. Rebel leaders don't trust strangers, Aiden. They'll see us as spies or worse."

Aiden shifted on Fenrir's back, slime form pulsing faintly as if amused.

"Yeah, but isn't that the fun part? Fifty-fifty odds — either we're welcomed… or we fight our way out. I like those numbers."

Fenrir's deep voice echoed in Aiden's mind, carrying a calm weight.

"Master, I can see why you believe this is her camp. The barrier is strong, yet uneven — cast by someone with immense magic but worn down by exhaustion. Only a leader would keep that up for days."

Radomira frowned at that, glancing again at the shimmering dome of light that protected the camp.

"So… she's burning herself out to shield her people. Sounds like the Emilia Truth mentioned."

The younger monsters pressed close together — Jörmungandr coiling nervously, Anansi clicking her tiny fangs, and Noivern stretching his small wings, drawn toward the barrier's glow.

Aiden patted Noivern absentmindedly.

"Well, looks like it's time to make an entrance. Let's hope Emilia's the kind of leader who talks before stabbing."

Radomira looked at him as she spoke. "So, now what's a Suspenseful infiltration or a dramatic introduction?".

Aiden moved his slimy body as he spoke. "Neither, infiltration means we are seen as enemies, dramatic means we get the attention, but too much showing and they won't take us seriously, we walk up to get like normal people... Will, in our case, Monsters".

Radomira raised a brow, smirking.

"So your grand plan is… to just walk up to the gate like it's a morning stroll?"

Aiden's slime body jiggled slightly, the equivalent of a shrug.

"Exactly. If we look like we belong, half the time people don't question it. Besides, I'd rather start on 'reasonable stranger' than 'suspicious intruder' or 'lunatic warlord'."

Fenrir gave a rumbling chuckle in Aiden's head.

"A sound strategy, Master. Wolves walk openly through snow — only prey hides."

The three baby monsters chimed in with tiny noises, as if voting in agreement: Jörmungandr hissed softly, Anansi clicked her mandibles, and Noivern let out a high-pitched squeak that sounded far too excited for what they were about to do.

Radomira sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Fine, but when this ends with us surrounded by a hundred spears, I'm blaming you."

"Deal," Aiden said cheerfully, already slithering forward on Fenrir's back toward the faint glow of the barrier.

As they descended, the faint hum of magic grew louder, the barrier rippling like the surface of water touched by moonlight. The closer they came, the more the soldiers on watch stiffened, weapons rising, shadows moving behind the translucent wall.

By the time they reached the base of the hill, torches were already gathering at the camp's entrance.

"Well," Aiden muttered in amusement. "Looks like we've got their attention anyway. Let's see how polite this greeting is."

Meanwhile, in the camp, in a tent, was Emilia, sitting on a chair, as she was dozing off.

After so many days of staying awake, she knew she couldn't go on like this, so she decided to go to sleep, maybe a quick power nap to heal herself.

Her Barrier will still stay on, even if she falls asleep, so she decided to close her eyes, and then as she did, she heard the rushing of footsteps as one of the Soldiers came in

The Soldier, a female, spoke in a hurried voice. "Lady Solva, monsters are coming near our camp!"

Emilia quickly got up, as her head spun a bit, and she cleared her thoughts. "Tch, Volt Forces, attack them".

Then the Soldiers spoke. "That's the Problem, they are not normal".

Emilia blinked as she used her staff to hold herself. "What do you mean?".

The Soldier looked at her as she continued. "They are not charging, they are not screaming, they are just..."

Emilia looked at her as he spoke. "Just what?"

"Waking toward us". She said.

Which left Emilia baffled and shocked and confused, in all her life, she had never heard of something like this before.

Emilia's brows furrowed, her exhaustion momentarily forgotten.

"Walking…? Monsters don't just walk calmly toward a barrier unless they're under control. Are you saying Volt sent a tamer?"

The soldier shook her head rapidly. "No chains, no collars. The wolves are moving in formation, like trained soldiers. And… one of them is carrying something. A slime. And a woman is with them too — she doesn't look… normal either."

That last part made Emilia grip her staff tighter, the air around it sparking faintly with mana. A bad premonition gnawed at her chest.

"Ready the archers and mages at the gate. If it's Volt's trick, we'll crush it. If it's not…" she hesitated, then sighed. "Then at least we'll find out what exactly is walking straight into my camp."

She pushed past the soldier and stepped out of her tent, cold night air brushing her face. All around, rebels were rushing to arms, lining the barricades of the camp, staring at the figures descending the hill. The barrier shimmered as the torches lit them up, revealing Fenrir's massive form, Aiden's glowing core pulsing faintly within his slime body, Radomira's regal stride, and three tiny creatures clinging to her robe or circling overhead.

Whispers broke out among the rebels.

"A monster pack? No… they're too organised."

"That's an Fenrir… isn't it? I thought it was just a legend!"

"Is that woman glowing?!"

Emilia narrowed her eyes, steadying herself as she raised her staff. Her barrier pulsed, tightening just in case.

"Strange monsters walking calmly into my camp, as if they own the place…" she muttered. "Either this is Volt's boldest trap yet, or the strangest allies I'll ever meet."

Emilia pointed her Staff, as Magic glows on the tip.

The archer pointed there arrows, Magi like Emilia ready there spells, and Soldiers pointed there Swords.

Aiden and his group stopped as he spoke. "Not bad of a start, not is it?"

Emilia gripped her staff, as she spoke. "Who goes there?".

The entire camp was dead silent, the crackle of torches the only sound against the night wind.

Aiden let out a bubbling chuckle from within his slime body, his core pulsing faintly as he spoke. "Relax, lady. If we wanted to attack, we wouldn't be walking up like this, would we? We'd be screaming, burning, and biting like the rest of Volt's mutts."

Fenrir's golden eyes glowed as he lowered his head slightly, the pack behind him standing perfectly disciplined. Radomira, arms crossed and hair flowing in the torchlight, smirked but said nothing — letting Aiden take the lead.

Emilia's grip on her staff tightened, the glow at its tip intensifying. "I'll ask again. Who are you, and why do you come to this camp with monsters at your side? Answer, or this barrier will be your grave."

Aiden's form rippled, almost like he was shrugging. "Names, huh? Fine. I'm Aiden. That's Radomira. And this fluffy pack?" He motioned toward Fenrir and the wolves, their fangs glinting in the torchlight. "They follow me because I'm their master. Simple as that."

The soldiers muttered in disbelief.

"A slime… talking?"

"Is he controlling Fenrir? That's impossible—"

"That woman, is she… glowing?!"

Emilia's heart pounded as she heard her people's uncertainty. A slime with intelligence, a wolf pack that moved like knights, and a woman who radiated divine aura — none of this fit Volt's tactics.

Still, she raised her chin, voice steady despite her exhaustion. "And why should I believe you're not another servant of Volt, sent to trick us? Monsters and traitors walk hand-in-hand in this cursed land."

Aiden's core pulsed brighter, and for a moment, his voice lost its humor, turning low and sharp. "Because if I was Volt's servant…" he spread his slime arms, black light crackling faintly across them, "…your camp would already be ash."

The air grew heavier. Even Fenrir bared his fangs, a deep growl vibrating through the earth.

The standoff hung by a thread.

Emilia's grip on her staff tightened, her knuckles pale. "Hentai? Soap Opera? What are these stranger words they toss around so casually… Are they code? Or some ancient tongue I've never heard of?" she thought, her lips twitching in frustration.

But her eyes went back to Fenrir—towering, radiating violet flame and lightning, yet strangely calm at the side of that slime. Her heart skipped. "Fenrir… Could it truly be him? The wolf of legend, the one said to be born from the fragments of the End? The one who, when the final hour strikes, will devour all creation until nothing remains?"

Her soldiers shifted uncomfortably, clearly recalling the same tales. Some stepped back, arrows trembling in their bows. Others whispered frantic prayers under their breath, as though the very name Fenrir could summon catastrophe.

Radomira noticed and whispered to Aiden with a teasing smirk, "See? Told you naming him would stir drama. You basically walked in with a walking apocalypse. Nice first impression."

Aiden groaned internally, muttering to Great Sage. "Note to self: maybe next time don't name pets after world-ending figures. But in my defense—it fit."

Fenrir rumbled low in his throat, confused. "Master, these humans fear me as though I have already destroyed their world. Have I?"

Aiden sighed, turning his slimy "face" toward Emilia's group. "No, buddy… not yet. Let's try not to make their prophecy self-fulfilling, alright?"

The atmosphere grew even heavier, the rebels' fear clashing against the bizarre casualness of this strange slime and his legendary wolf.

Emilia blinked, her staff lowering slightly as her brows furrowed. "It… speaks? No, it sounds human…" she whispered, her suspicion mixing with disbelief. The soldiers glanced at each other uneasily, murmuring prayers or curses under their breath.

Aiden tilted his slimy "head" toward her and waved a goo-hand. "Um—Earth to Lady, hello? We didn't march all this way to play charades. We're here to talk."

The camp went silent.

One of the younger soldiers leaned toward another, whispering, "Did the slime just say Earth? Is that… a spell? Or another world?"

Radomira facepalmed so hard that Spindy the baby spider flopped off her shoulder with a squeak. "He means 'pay attention,' you dolts…"

Fenrir, trying to be helpful, added with solemn dignity, "Yes. When Master says Earth to Lady, he does not mean dirt. He means you should focus your eyes and ears upon him."

That somehow made it worse.

Half the camp immediately began whispering things like "They're using coded demon language!" or "It's a cult phrase!"

Emilia pinched her nose bridge, feeling a migraine coming. "So let me get this straight… a slime, who talks like a human… walks into my camp with Fenrir of all beings… and claims he's here to talk. Do you realize how insane that sounds?"

Aiden wiggled his body proudly. "Lady, I'm a talking slime riding a legendary wolf while babysitting a mutant bat. Trust me, sounding insane is my baseline."

Radomira muffled a snort, trying not to laugh.

Emilia looked at him, as she spoke. "Why are you here".

Aiden looked at her as he spoke. "Well Lady, I wanna join you".

Emilia stopped at that as she spoke. "Hard to believe, all Monsters are on Volt side".

Aiden looked at her as he spoke. "What makes you say that".

Emilia just said one cold word. "Everything".

Then she heard a voice in her head as stumbled back, she looked around on who was speaking too her, as she looked at Fenrir.

"Do not compare us to does insult, us monster have one role, kill Humans and Eat then, and mate with our own kind, what does Monster do, using you Race as breeding stock, is something we all hate".

Emilia's breath caught as the words resonated in her skull, deep and primal, like the growl of a thousand storms. She staggered back a step, eyes wide, her staff trembling in her grip.

Her gaze locked on Fenrir, who now sat calmly at Aiden's side, golden eyes glimmering with something ancient. So it was you…

Fenrir's voice rumbled again in her mind, quieter this time, but no less sharp.

"Do not compare us to those abominations. We monsters know our role. We kill to survive, we eat our prey, we take our mates. But what the Volt monsyer—what their filth does with humans—they mock both life and death. They are not monsters. They are blasphemies."

The soldiers around Emilia looked confused, seeing only her sudden pale face and trembling lips. They had no idea what she was hearing.

Emilia whispered, almost defensively, "Then… why stand with him? Why stand with a slime?"

Fenrir's lips curled, revealing a flash of his fangs. "Because unlike them, he has no chains of filth upon him. He walks with his own will. That makes him more monster than those wretches will ever be."

Aiden raised a goo-hand awkwardly. "Uh, thanks? I think?"

Radomira, arms crossed, finally broke the silence with a smirk. "See? Even the legendary wolf thinks the Volt are trash. So maybe, maybe, you should hear us out before swinging that staff, princess."

The tension in the camp shifted. The soldiers looked uneasy, unsure whether to fear the newcomers or reconsider their commander's certainty. Emilia's grip on her staff loosened ever so slightly, though her eyes stayed sharp.
