The door swung open, and two servants pushed the trolley inside. Irene stepped into the princess's room, catching sight of her husband by the window. He acknowledged me with a nod, and she returned the gesture before turning her focus to the princess, who was adjusting her dress in front of the mirror for at least the third time that day.
I caught sight of Irene in the mirror, and I turned on my heels to meet her. The other maids bowed their heads in respect.
"Thank you. I knew I could rely on you," I said softly, offering her a warm smile.
"You're very generous, Your Highness," she replied with a bow. "If you need anything else, please don't hesitate to call me."
I nodded in acknowledgment. She bowed again and left with the other maids. Sighing, I locked the door and moved toward the trolley to inspect its contents.
