"There ain't much jobs in this city that can net you a thousand bucks on your first day," Paulie said to Nick from the front seat, wearing a smug grin and caressing the other corner of his chin.
Nick glanced down to the small cash roll in his hand and put it in his pocket.
"That's true. I'm really grateful. Thanks," he said, wearing his usual forced light smile.
"Anyway, that's it for today. We gotta check back in with Boss. Don't forget, the 'event' starts by nine, so try to be on time," Paulie scoffed and glanced at Kev, "otherwise Kev'll steal the hot ones before you arrive."
Kev laughed. "Man, you're worse than me."
Nick laughed and just nodded. "I got it. I'll try to be early."
Paulie patted him on his right shoulder and with a vroom, the black Range Rover sped away.
