The Great Emperor Mountain Range was located at the border between Hall of Souls and Yuan Manor's territories. In the past, many fierce battles had erupted here between the two factions, making it a battlefield of extreme intensity.
The name "Great Emperor" originated from ancient times. It was said that during that era, two Dou Di powerhouses once fought an earth-shattering battle here, which made the location renowned.
Although the mountain range had gradually fallen into silence over time, its name once again resounded across the Central Plains the moment it was chosen as the final battlefield between Hall of Souls and Yuan Manor.
The spread of this news was inevitable. However, neither faction had anticipated the immense impact it would bring. In less than three days, the once relatively peaceful Great Emperor Mountain Range was overrun by a massive crowd at an astonishing speed.
Powerhouses and factions from all over the continent flocked toward the mountain range. This battle for dominance over the Central Plains had attracted attention far beyond anyone's expectations.
It seemed that all the forces and experts in the Central Plains were curious—when the old overlord, Hall of Souls, clashed with the rising force, Yuan Manor, who would emerge victorious?
In just three days, the population density of the Great Emperor Mountain Range reached a terrifying level.
And as the mountain range became saturated with people, excitement surged through countless hearts. They knew that they would not be disappointed—this was bound to be a world-shaking battle!
Three days passed in the blink of an eye under the anticipation of countless spectators. When the morning sun on the fourth day tore through the clouds and bathed the earth in golden light, the atmosphere in the mountain range instantly became fiery hot.
The sky was filled with the sound of wind howling as countless figures soared through the air like locusts, all heading toward the peak of the Great Emperor Mountain Range!
Although the entire mountain range was packed with people, the central peak remained untouched. Not a single person dared step foot into it, not even the ancient monsters whose casual gestures could shatter space itself. They all remained at least a thousand meters away from the peak, wary and cautious.
No one knew how much time had passed before the space atop the peak suddenly distorted rapidly. Under countless gazes, a spatial passage slowly formed.
"Hiss! Hiss!"
The moment the spatial passage fully stabilized, a vast, chilling black mist gushed out from within. Amidst the mist, eerie wails could be faintly heard, sending shivers down the spines of many onlookers. Their expressions changed as they gazed at the sinister fog with both fear and disgust.
"Hall of Souls has arrived."
Just by seeing the way they made their entrance, everyone immediately recognized who had come. They quickly composed themselves and braced for what was to come.
As the black mist churned violently, seven figures slowly emerged under the watchful eyes of the crowd.
No—ten figures!
Ten Dou Shengs! Each radiated an immense, overwhelming aura, making many spectators tremble in fear.
Among these ten figures, the two leading them were naturally the Chief of Hall of Souls and the infamous Elder Hun Mo. Behind them stood the Deputy Chief of Hall of Souls, a familiar face, while the rest were likely formidable experts of the Hun Clan.
With the arrival of these ten powerhouses, the temperature of the entire area plummeted instantly. Even the sunlight pouring down from the sky seemed to carry a bone-chilling coldness.
"Hall of Souls's strength... it's terrifying."
Some of the Grand Elders from major sects looked at this scene with solemn expressions. It was only now, after witnessing it with their own eyes, that they truly understood the insurmountable gap between their sects and Hall of Souls.
The Chief of Hall of Souls scanned the densely packed crowd with an indifferent gaze. Then, he lifted his head and looked toward a distant mountain peak. His calm voice boomed like thunder across the entire Great Emperor Mountain Range.
"Since Yuan Manor is here, why not show yourselves?"
As soon as his voice fell, a chuckling voice followed in response.
"As expected of the Chief of Hall of Souls—your eyesight is indeed sharp."
The moment the voice rang out, everyone saw the space atop the opposite peak twist rapidly. Immediately after, fifteen figures appeared in the air!
The crowd scanned the newly arrived figures carefully, and a collective gasp erupted. Even some of the ancient monsters' expressions changed dramatically.
Fifteen Dou Shengs!
Yuan Manor had brought out all of their elite forces!
Apart from the ten Thunder Slaves, the remaining five consisted of Zi Huo, Yao Ming, She Lao, the recently ascended Dou Sheng, Old Demon Tian Ming, and Yuan Manor's leader, Mo Yu.
With this lineup, Yuan Manor now boasted a total of fifteen Dou Shengs, making them strong enough to rival some ancient clans!
A brief silence fell over the battlefield. Clearly, Yuan Manor's terrifying display of strength had shaken everyone present.
Even the veteran Grand Elders of various factions were left in utter shock—no one had anticipated that Yuan Manor's power had swelled to such an extent.
The Chief of Hall of Souls fixed his gaze on Mo Yu, his expression tightening slightly before he spoke in an icy voice.
"Today's battle will decide everything. Yuan Manor has only one chance. If you lose, you will suffer utter annihilation. Mo Yu, do you dare accept?"
A monstrous wave of soul pressure erupted from the Chief's voice, sweeping toward Mo Yu like a raging tide.
However, Mo Yu stood his ground. He took a single step forward, his aura perfectly balanced. The overwhelming soul pressure failed to make him budge even an inch.
Then, he lifted his head and spoke a single word.
"Accept!"
The moment Mo Yu spoke, a sharp light flashed through the Chief's eyes. Though he remained silent, the air itself grew unbearably oppressive.
"Heh, you sure are bold."
Beside the Chief, the Elder Hun Mo let out a sinister laugh, his face filled with cold malice.
Mo Yu ignored him, instead turning his gaze toward the Chief.
"What rules do you propose for this battle?"
The Chief's voice was deep and solemn.
"Three rounds, two victories. Each side sends out three fighters, and the battle is to the death."
A pause. Then, his voice turned chilling.
"Of course, if you want a full-scale war, I have no objections. If you think gathering some magical beast clans will be enough to challenge Hall of Souls, then you are truly naive."
Mo Yu sneered.
"With the Hun Clan backing you, of course, you'd feel confident."
Then, a cold light flickered in his eyes.
"But if it really comes to an all-out war, the outcome is far from certain. At the very least, when it comes to the number of Dou Shengs—Yuan Manor has the advantage."
The Chief smirked in disdain.
"With your pitiful collection of Fire Puppets from the Demonic Flame Realm? Hmph. Those are nothing but mindless, low-tier Dou Shengs. A single Hall of Souls expert can take on four or five of them."
Then, he spoke calmly yet arrogantly.
"You may choose—will it be a duel, or war?"
"Hehe, then let's settle it with a best-of-three. It's not that I'm afraid of you, but rather, allowing others to shine is a fine virtue," Mo Yu said with a smile.
Although he wasn't afraid of a full-scale battle, he knew that the Hun Clan was reluctant to let the Hall of Souls suffer heavy losses, and he himself wasn't willing to sacrifice the entire Yuan Manor. After all, he had painstakingly built it up over the years, and he still needed it as a foundation to venture into the Great Thousand World in the future.
"It seems you can't afford the cost of an all-out war either," the Chief of Hall of Souls raised an eyebrow, speaking meaningfully.
"Let your participants step forward," Mo Yu said indifferently.
"Heh, over the years, no one has provoked my Hun Clan as much as you have," the old man Hun Mo sneered sinisterly before stepping forward. "Junior of the Lei Clan, I'll be one of the three participants."
As Hun Mo took a step, those with keen senses immediately noticed that the massive mountain beneath them suddenly trembled slightly. A surge of dark energy, like an enraged dragon, erupted from under his foot, tearing through the rocky mountain and roaring toward Mo Yu.
"Boom!"
However, just as the dark energy was about to burst from the ground, a spatial rift suddenly tore open behind Mo Yu, and a figure stepped out.
The newcomer's foot landed precisely at the point where the dark energy was surging, causing the solid ground to sink half a foot deep. The dark energy dragon was instantly shattered by the force of his step.
"The Hun Clan still insists on hiding in the shadows," the man who had just arrived said coldly, his expression impassive as he gazed at Hun Mo.
"It's you—Blood Axe Xiao Chen!"
Hun Mo's face darkened, his venomous gaze locking onto Xiao Chen with a hint of shock.
"Mo Yu, count me in for this battle. Do you mind?" Xiao Chen asked hoarsely, his cold eyes sweeping over the Chief of Hall of Souls and the others before settling on Mo Yu.
Mo Yu was briefly stunned before his face lit up with joy. "Of course! Senior Xiao Chen, if you're willing to fight on behalf of Yuan Manor, I welcome you wholeheartedly!"
Initially, the best-of-three format put Yuan Manor at a disadvantage, and Mo Yu had even planned to let his soul avatar fight one match. But with Xiao Chen voluntarily stepping in to assist, he was naturally more than happy.
"Hmph, Xiao Chen isn't from Yuan Manor. Aren't you breaking the rules?" the Chief of Hall of Souls questioned.
"Cut the nonsense. Is Hun Mo from your Hall of Souls? Besides, do I, Xiao Chen, need the Hun Clan's approval to decide which faction I belong to?" Xiao Chen retorted coldly.
The Chief of Hall of Souls was momentarily at a loss for words.
"Hehe, as expected of Blood Axe Xiao Chen. After all these years, you're still as ruthless as ever. But no matter how famous Xiao Xuan was, he still couldn't escape his downfall. Your Xiao Clan is destined to be nothing more than a fleeting spark," a hoarse voice suddenly spoke.
As the Chief of Hall of Souls fell silent, an aged figure leaning on a cane appeared ghost-like beside him, emerging without warning into everyone's view.
The moment this elderly figure appeared, Mo Yu's eyes narrowed slightly, his expression turning solemn.
This man's aura was even stronger than Hun Mo's—he had reached the level of a Six-Star Dou Sheng!
"Hun Qianmo!"
Xiao Chen's gaze locked onto the elderly man, his eyes filled with cold fury. This man was as thin as bones, clad in a gray robe, his shriveled face twisted into a sinister smile.
"You, a pathetic wretch who once begged for mercy before my clan leader, have the audacity to show yourself?" Xiao Chen took a deep breath, suppressing the surge of killing intent within him, his voice devoid of emotion.
Hun Qianmo's skeletal face twitched slightly as he let out a rasping chuckle, his voice like grinding bones. "No matter how powerful he was, he still met his end in the end. The strong rule, and the weak perish. The Hun Clan still stands at the peak of this continent, while your Xiao Clan… is barely surviving, unworthy of mention."
"Boom!"
A dark gleam flashed across Xiao Chen's face, and in an instant, he appeared before Hun Qianmo. With a sweep of his hand, a massive blood-colored battle axe materialized, slashing down with the force of thunder splitting the sky.
"Xiao Chen, even if you were lucky enough to survive until now, you are no longer the same Blood Axe Xiao Chen of the past!"
Faced with Xiao Chen's ferocious strike, Hun Qianmo's withered face twisted into a cruel sneer. His skeletal hand clenched into a fist, meeting the gigantic blood axe head-on.
"Clang!"
The terrifying impact sent shockwaves through the battlefield. Even the Dou Sheng experts from the Hall of Souls had to retreat hastily, with only the Chief of Hall of Souls and Hun Mo remaining steadfast in place.
"Step! Step!"
Xiao Chen was forced back ten steps from the clash, his expression darkening as he looked at Hun Qianmo.
Having been trapped in the Demonic Flame Realm for thousands of years, his cultivation progress naturally couldn't compare to Hun Qianmo's steady growth. This left Xiao Chen feeling unwilling—back then, this very man would have turned and fled at the mere sight of him!
"Xiao Chen, I've already told you—times have changed. Right now, you're no longer my match," Hun Qianmo glanced at the shallow cut on his fist indifferently, showing no concern. His gaze then turned toward Mo Yu, a hint of greed flashing in his eyes.
"The divine-grade bloodline within you… If the Lei Clan had more time, perhaps they would have truly prospered. But it's a pity—you encountered the Hun Clan."
Mo Yu remained calm. Although this old fossil had reached the Six-Star Dou Sheng level and was stronger than anyone present, he wasn't afraid.
"Mo Yu, the Hall of Souls's participants are ready. Now it's your turn," the Chief of Hall of Souls said coldly, taking a step forward. Clearly, he would be the third combatant.
Seeing this, Mo Yu's eyes gleamed with icy determination. Today's battle was turning out to be more brutal than he had anticipated.
Three matches—he could handle the Chief of Hall of Souls, and Xiao Chen could take on Hun Mo, but the biggest problem was Hun Qianmo.
"Am I supposed to fight two matches alone?" Mo Yu thought to himself.
"Don't worry, kid. That old fossil is mine. Since the Hun Clan wants to play dirty, my Lei Clan won't let you fight alone."
Just as this thought crossed Mo Yu's mind, a burly figure wreathed in crackling lightning appeared beside him, his arrival completely silent.
The newcomer was a towering elder with dark skin, a long beard, and a body brimming with power. A lightning-shaped scar ran across his chest, and a bold "雷" (Lei) character was imprinted on his right shoulder.
Upon seeing this person, Hun Qianmo's face immediately grew solemn, and he spoke in a deep voice, "So it's you… Lei Ying of the Lei Clan!"
