Long eyelashes fluttered lightly, and a pair of blue eyes slowly opened, their gaze transitioning from hazy to clear. The unfamiliar room decor reflected in Ivanka's eyes, and seeing the scattered clothes on the floor, everything from last night flashed through her mind. A sweet smile involuntarily appeared on her lips.
It was a feeling of floating on clouds, unable to touch the ground, yet irresistibly enchanting.
This feeling was wonderful; being with Duke felt truly beautiful.
As she was lost in these thoughts, Ivanka felt a strong, powerful arm wrap around her waist, and her earlobe was gently bitten. Her body couldn't help but tremble slightly.
"Awake?"
Duke kissed her forehead. Ivanka broke free from his hand, turned to face him, and softly hummed through her nose, "Hmm... what time is it?"
"Just at dawn."
One arm wrapped around her waist, while Duke's other hand slid upward along her smooth, fair stomach. Ivanka possessed an impressive figure.
"Stop it, okay?" Ivanka could feel both hands moving up and down, softly expressing her displeasure. "I'm exhausted from last night. Let's just talk, alright?"
Duke stopped, but his hands still rested on Ivanka's softest parts, front and back. Ivanka pressed her forehead against Duke's chest, holding him tightly. Duke had no choice but to withdraw his hand from her chest, though her firmness left no gaps against him.
Wrapping his arms around Ivanka's body completely, Duke kissed her smooth, white forehead. Like Ivanka, he closed his eyes, simply feeling her presence with his body.
"This is so nice," Ivanka murmured softly.
Duke chuckled. But before his smile could spread, his mouth was blocked by hers. Both were bare-skinned, without any reservations or doubts, kissing passionately and fiercely, taking from each other. Their hands roamed over each other's sensitive spots, sparking an inevitable intense battle.
Compared to Duke's practiced skill, Ivanka's prowess in this "battle" was hardly worth mentioning. The struggle lasted only a few minutes before she completely lost the upper hand, lying there helplessly as Duke took the lead. In the end, she simply closed her eyes, savoring the ultimate pleasure her lover brought her.
Everything gradually calmed down. Ivanka's misty eyes seemed ready to spill over.
"I'll carry you to bathe." Duke kissed her red lips, intending to lift her.
But Ivanka shook her head, gently nudging Duke's certain area with her leg and muttering resentfully, "I don't trust you..."
Then she added, "I can't control myself either."
With that, she jumped to the floor and headed toward the bathroom, guided by her memory.
Duke, now wearing a robe, opened the curtains. The sea, bathed in the rising sun's light, resembled a bright mirror. This mirror seemed to illuminate every corner of the world, piercing through people and exposing the darkness hidden deep within.
Due to his mindset, there weren't many people Duke genuinely cared about in this world. Starting today, there could be one more...
Reflecting on the past, Duke stood by the window, lost in thought. After nearly half an hour, he let out a soft sigh.
"I'm already thirty-one. It's time to make some changes."
As soon as Duke finished his self-reflection, a pair of long arms wrapped around his waist from behind, and he felt an unusually soft sensation against his back. Without turning, he knew Ivanka's chest was pressed firmly against him.
"I know making changes can be hard to decide on," Ivanka murmured, her ear pressed against Duke's back. "Everyone feels this way when facing challenges. Maybe we can't decide our fate, but we can choose how to use the time God gives us..."
"I'll try my best." Duke knew Ivanka understood him.
Ivanka released him and turned his body toward her. "I'll be with you every step of the way."
After freshening up, Duke and Ivanka went downstairs to the living room, where Panny Kallis and Nancy Josephson were already waiting.
"Can we talk privately, Duke?" Panny Kallis glanced at Ivanka.
Ivanka immediately said, "I just saw Tina heading to the dining room. I'll wait for you there."
Without looking back, she left the living room.
After working with Duke for a few months, Ivanka knew he wasn't someone who easily changed his mind. Moreover, Tina Fey had told her that Duke's contracts explicitly prohibited PR agents and managers from interfering in his personal life.
"Duke..."
Once Duke sat on the opposite sofa, Panny Kallis asked directly, "Are you serious this time?"
"Yes." Duke nodded seriously.
Nancy Josephson quipped, "Ivanka's going to be a public enemy for some people."
"That doesn't matter," Duke replied indifferently. "She won't have much involvement in this industry; her ambitions lie outside Hollywood."
Panny Kallis interrupted their banter. "From what I've gathered, Duke, when you returned with Miss Trump last night, several paparazzi were tailing you. Many of them camped outside all night. By noon, some gossip sites will have reports, and tomorrow's tabloids will have headlines..."
"Ignore them." Duke understood Panny's implication and responded directly. "I've discussed this with Ivanka. We won't make any public statements, nor will we deny anything."
Since the advent of the internet, Duke, an active director, could no longer completely stay behind the scenes. Besides, the other protagonist in this matter was also quite high-profile.
Earlier, while heading downstairs, Duke and Ivanka had exchanged opinions and agreed to remain silent for now.
Duke had never been afraid of paparazzi harassment, as they were always around him. Once Ivanka left Los Angeles, she'd head straight back to Wharton Business School.
Regarding his private life, Duke never felt obligated to cater to the media. With the Duke estate's tight security, there was no concern about prying eyes.
After a few brief exchanges, the three of them reached a consensus. Panny Kallis and Nancy Josephson prepared to leave but were stopped by Duke.
"Panny, I remember asking Tina to inform you about Christopher Rokenkort's situation."
Panny Kallis nodded. "I've thoroughly researched his profile."
After a brief pause, Duke said, "In the next month and a half, I need you to stay in Los Angeles to assist with handling Christopher Rokenkort's matter and figure out how to help the victims."
"I understand." Panny Kallis knew the importance of this issue. Nancy was equally aware. "I'll cancel any out-of-town commitments."
"Good. That's all for today." Duke stood up. "If there's anything else, I'll have Tina coordinate with you."
Before leaving, Panny suggested, "It's the weekend. You don't have to go to the studio, right?"
Seeing Duke nod, she added, "Then it's best you stay home."
Duke had no interest in being surrounded by paparazzi. He hadn't planned to go out anyway. Once Panny Kallis and Nancy Josephson left the living room, he headed to the dining room.
Upon entering, Duke sat at the head of the table and asked, "Where's Ivanka?"
Tina Fey pointed toward the ocean-facing terrace. "On the phone, I think with her father."
Duke glanced in that direction but quickly returned his focus. "Tina, after breakfast, contact my mother's assistant to confirm her schedule for the next month. Also, follow up with Irene and Sophia. I plan to organize a wilderness outing next month and invite them."
"You forgot?" Tina Fey reminded him. "We recently got an email. Sophia's in Japan, scouting locations for her new film. She won't be back in North America until October. Irene's going to Paris for Fashion Week at the end of the month and won't be free until after."
"Confirm their schedules," Duke insisted. "If they're unavailable, the outing will be canceled."
He then turned back to Tina. "And you, during the next month and a half, which is crucial for dealing with Christopher Rokenkort, you're not allowed to take leave without my approval."
"When have I ever truly taken a vacation?" Tina Fey muttered under her breath.
Ivanka Trump entered from the terrace, catching the latter part of Duke's words, which he didn't bother hiding from her.
"Christopher Rokenkort?" Ivanka pulled out a chair and sat to Duke's left, curiously asking, "Weren't you planning to work with him?"
Although raised in a business family and familiar with its cutthroat nature, she had always considered Duke someone with principles, rarely taking advantage of collaborators.
"Dear, he's not as simple as he seems."
While eating breakfast, Duke briefly explained Christopher Rokenkort's fraudulent exploits to Ivanka. "This could be Hollywood's largest personal fraud case in history."
Ivanka was stunned. "I noticed him at a party. Many celebrities warmly greeted him..."
She frowned. "According to what you said, his shell company has already scammed over $30 million. Why would he still target you?"
"Because once the agreement is signed," Duke held up five fingers, "he could potentially extract this amount in initial funding from me."
$50 million? Ivanka sighed softly. That number could drive anyone to madness.
After breakfast, Tina Fey went about her tasks. Duke and Ivanka strolled through the garden.
"Dad called earlier. I told him about us."
Hearing this, Duke didn't mind. It was only natural.
