Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

"You... I will kill you!!!!"

The dragon roared in anger at seeing this "human." It wanted to kill him. It just knew that it wanted to take revenge on this man. But all this dragon got in response was a cryptic laugh.

"Hahahahaha!!"

Kamish couldn't help but laugh. This all felt incredible to him. The feeling of toying with his opponent felt great. Every time he had been toyed with, every time he had been faced with this situation in life, it always turned out differently than this. Even in his past, he never felt an emotion so great as finally being able to let this out—to finally be the one in control. In his past, he never had it. That's why he couldn't help but laugh.

"Swoosh!!!"

The white flames flickered in and out of existence for a moment. In a single second, they changed. These flames turned into chains, scattering around the severed tail, slowly consuming it in a mere second and a half. The flames burned with such ferocity that it was as if they had melted it. Nothing of the severed tail existed now—neither blood, arteries, skin, nor bone. All was burned to nothingness. But instead of the flames disappearing, they flooded out. These white flaming chains struck out, aiming for the dragon's body, targeting the body parts that had the most mobility—the neck and head. The flaming chains hit these targets, wrapping themselves onto the neck and head as if the dragon were a war criminal receiving judgment from the commanding officer.

"Come over here."

Kamish grabbed hold of these white flaming chains. Even though they should have been intangible, he was able to grab them as if these chains weren't just flames. He grabbed hold of them and yanked them back. The dragon tried to move, but he just kept pulling and pulling and pulling on these chains until finally, the dragon could no longer move.

But they snapped. These chains snapped as if they weren't just flames. They snapped off the dragon's neck and head, leaving only some small pieces behind. The dragon looked up, looking straight at Kamish.

Opening its maw, it started to gather Ethernano—more and more each and every second. It took in Ethernano until eventually, the whole thing gathered together inside its mouth. The dragon closed its mouth and opened it again, this time filled with ice—so much ice, as if a volcano were going to shoot out, but instead of lava, it was ice. An ice laser. The ice shot out like a springboard. Everything that it touched froze over. The ground froze. Trees, rocks—everything became covered in ice. It was as if the Ice Age was happening in front of them. Each and everything they saw was frozen.

"Ah..."

"I-I don't want to die."

"Help me... please..."

Villagers cried out in fear as they were faced with one thing: the breath of a dragon. Ice instantly formed on their bodies—their hair, clothes, arms, hands, legs, feet, faces. Everything was encased in ice, even their own breath, making them unable to breathe anymore. They were living statues of ice.

"Gah!!!"

Kamish tried dodging the ice breath, but it was way too fast. He was forced to try and predict the timing and attack pattern of the attack. The ice breath flew at him, striking him everywhere, but there wasn't anything he could do. It was too strong—far stronger than any normal magic.

"Gah!!!"

In this moment, Kamish poured all of his mana into his flames. Instead of trying to brute-force through, he wrapped himself in his flames. White flames wrapped around him like a cocoon of flames, protecting him from the onslaught of the dragon's attacks.

White icy mist spread out from Kamish's left arm—the place where he couldn't defend in time. His left hand, which had been guarded against the ice to save him some time, was frozen solid. But still, he continued to fight, not giving up, continuing to pour out his mana like water flowing down a river. Each and every second of this defense wasted an incredible amount of mana.

Each second wasted so much mana. The breath of ice the dragon unleashed kept raining down upon him, each strike causing damage. The pain felt like someone was stabbing him repeatedly in the chest, the cold numbing his entire body. Even his eyes hurt.

Instead of relying on his polymorphed human body, he started to slowly change it. The normal human eyes, nose, ears, and lips began to melt away, and new ones appeared. His face changed form, becoming a beast—a dragon. His body transformed into scales, muscles bulging out. Instead of transforming into his "true" form, he wanted to play more.

His body started to become covered in fiery red scales. His arms started to transform, turning into fiery red scales covering his arms, his hands, then his fingers. His hands turned into claws, and when the transformation reached the top of his head, fiery scales adorned his face. These scales stuck to him like glue, leaving most of his skin covered in them. His face was slightly adorned with them, covering all the right areas—his cheeks and the corners of his face were covered completely.

Four magnificent horns sprouted from his head, two on each side. They were about three times bigger than the ones on his head now. The tips of each horn glowed a white-flaming color, as if they were burning hot. White flames danced upon his horns, as if people were looking at a lamp where the flames were dancing. Everything was illuminated by the white flames. His eyes became red, and his pupils dilated. His fangs sharpened, his teeth grew sharper and longer until they looked like daggers. His mouth widened, revealing fangs.

'Ah, this is new, but it honestly doesn't feel right. It's as if I'm submerged in water, being held back. I guess this will do for now.'

He thought this while focusing his mind. He took deep breaths, calming his heart rate, controlling his breathing, and focusing his senses. He could hear the sounds of ragged breaths. He could see the smoke rising off the village and the flames flickering on the buildings. He could smell the burnt flesh and the blood of the villagers. He could taste the bitter tang of the blood, and he could see the misty ice that was covering everything. Even fire couldn't do anything—the ice never melted.

Shatter!!!

Ice spikes sprouted out and formed in the air, surrounding the dragon. Hundreds, thousands of big ice projectiles—each and every ice spike looked to be around the size of a small hut. Each one of them was coated in the same white frosting, which made them look like tiny icicles hanging from the sky.

Swoosh!!!

The ice spikes launched like a springboard, moving at a speed faster than humans could see. They started to rain down upon Kamish.

Kamish dodged the first few, using the momentum of the falling ice to turn his body sideways. He used the force of gravity to propel himself backward, toward the mountain. He was able to avoid getting hit directly by the projectiles, but the sheer number of them meant that there would always be one or two close enough to get past his evasive maneuvers. He kept moving forward, dodging the ice shards. He didn't know how long he would be able to dodge the barrage of projectiles. The only thing keeping him alive was his ability to control his movements. He could no longer move quickly because of the weight of the ice coating his body and the fact that his limbs weren't flexible anymore due to the transformation and the constant ice that was coating his arm.

Boom!!!

Each place where the ice spikes landed, they caused a resounding boom. The sound echoed through the mountains. The explosions reverberated throughout the valley, the vibrations shaking the ground beneath, causing massive vibrations that offset everyone's feet, making it impossible to walk without feeling like you might fall over.

"Shatter!!!"

More and more ice spikes constantly hit the ground, creating huge explosions as if a meteor had fallen from the sky and delivered heavenly judgment. It felt like the world had been turned upside down. Every time a snowflake would fall, it would cause a small explosion wherever it landed.

"Boom!!!"

More and more ice spikes crashed onto the earth, causing large avalanches and sending shockwaves everywhere. It wasn't just the ice itself that created destruction—it seemed that the entire atmosphere was filled with the destructive power of the ice. The temperature dropped dramatically, so much that it made it seem like it was freezing outside, even though it was summer. The heat of the sun evaporated as soon as it touched the icy surface, instantly disappearing. It was as if the sun was fighting against the coldness of the ice. The light was being absorbed into the ice particles, leaving the area shrouded in darkness—not even a single ray of sunlight reached the ground.

The trees began to sway back and forth, and the grass swayed in the wind. All of the plants were being blown away and turning brown due to the lack of nutrients and minerals being provided by the sunlight.

"Shatter!!"

More and more ice spikes collided with the earth. They were being thrown around violently, smashing into each other. It almost appeared as if they were trying to destroy themselves as well as the dragon.

"Shatter!!!"

Another volley of ice spikes slammed into Kamish, who had lost all his strength and was unable to see anything. His sight was gone. He could pinpoint the dragon's location through his senses—the way the wind moved, the way the heat suddenly increased, and the way the wind was blowing. However, his vision was completely gone. The ice coating his eyes had made his sight go blurry.

"Shatter!!"

A second wave of ice spikes smashed into Kamish's head. The impact sent him flying backward. His vision was still blurry, but he could tell that the dragon was in front of him. He was lying face-down in the dirt, his head spinning, his mouth dry, and his stomach churning. He couldn't feel his arms or legs—the pain from his injuries had taken hold of him. He had no idea what had happened since the last time he had seen the dragon.

His body was numb. He couldn't feel his own breathing. It felt as if he were in a space that rejected air itself—as if he were drowning in an ocean of ice. It felt as if he were suffocating in the very substance that covered his skin. It was too cold for his brain to function properly.

"Boom!!!"

A sea of fire flooded out. Fire started to take shape—the torrent of flames started to slither across the barren land of ice, as if it were a snake or a living creature. It slithered, making a circle of fire. The flame danced on its own accord. It was mesmerizing to watch—as if the flame were dancing, as if it were performing a ballet. The flame was bright. It was beautiful. It was also deadly. It burned everything it touched, consuming every inch of the desolate landscape. Slowly, it burned everything it touched.

"Boom!!!"

Fire erupted out of the circle. A cacophony of fire shot out—everything in the fire became a raging inferno. It looked like a fiery tornado. It was destroying the ice. The fire spread at such speed that it left nothing behind. The ground below was now scorched. The rocks were melting. The soil was liquefying. The trees were falling apart. And the dragon was engulfed by the blaze.

Everything that was inside the circle of fire became a tornado of fire—a blazing inferno, a sea of fire. It was spreading fast, devouring the world before their eyes, swallowing up everything that stood in its way.

"Boom!" "Boom!!!"

The sound of explosions continued to echo throughout the mountain range as the blazing inferno erupted once again. It spewed fire outward—a massive tidal wave engulfing the surrounding area. The heat from the fire caused the wind to pick up, as if it were screaming in agony. It howled as it picked up the flames and carried them far off into the distance. The wind blew so hard that it ripped apart the clouds and allowed the sun's rays to shine through.

"Roar!!!!!"

A thunderous roar echoed throughout the village. The dragon was in pain. Fire cascaded off its scales and down its neck. The fire was getting out of control—it was spreading quickly. The fire was eating away at the dragon's skin. It was starting to look charred and burnt. There was no sign of the majestic beast anymore—only blackened scales adorned on the dragon's skin. Its flesh was slowly becoming transparent, revealing the bones underneath.

"Roar!!!!!"

It let out another thunderous roar. The ice started to intensify as the dragon's heartbeat quickened. It was having trouble breathing. It was struggling to move. The fire had burned away most of its skin, exposing its muscles and its veins.

"Roar!!!!"

Its tail whipped violently, causing the entire forest to shake. The trees shook uncontrollably. The leaves fell off the branches as the dragon tried desperately to escape the fire. Its claws dug deep into the frozen ground as it used its weight against the pull of the flames.

"Swoosh!"

Kamish swung his sword in a horizontal arc. The blade sliced cleanly through one of the dragon's wings. As the wing tore free, it flapped wildly, trying to regain its balance. Kamish's foot slipped out of his boot, and he tumbled forward, landing with a thud on the icy ground.

"Thunk!!!"

As he hit the ground, he heard the sound of metal hitting stone as the dragon landed next to him.

Tornado!!

The winds intensified as they buffeted Kamish's body. It knocked him over onto his back. The earth beneath him cracked as it gave way, sending chunks of rock rolling toward the men. The dragon roared loudly as the ground around it began to crumble.

Hiss...

It let out a piercing cry. The sound was deafening. The air turned white as the snowflakes were sucked into the vortex of air. It was sucking all the oxygen from the sky above—pulling the water vapor from the atmosphere. The stormy skies darkened rapidly as the temperature dropped significantly. The freezing cold air froze anything it touched. It was like a blizzard, but it wasn't winter yet. What was happening?

Roar!

A mighty roar resounded throughout the valley. The snow melted instantly. The ice shattered. The ground crumpled under the pressure of the powerful winds. The dragon was rising high into the sky. As it did so, the tornadoes of ice that circled around it dissipated, leaving behind a trail of destruction in their wake. The wind blew furiously, whipping the dirt up from the mud floor. It created giant whirlwinds that sent dust everywhere.

A blade of wind shot out from the tornado, striking Kamish in the chest, knocking him backward. The impact drove the breath from his lungs. The pain was excruciating—he felt his ribs break as he coughed blood. The blade of wind slashed across his face, cutting open his cheek as well as the side of his mouth.

But instead of blood splashing across the ground, it came back in a flood. Kamish's jaw, his blood, and his skin started to form and come back, repairing itself. Everything that was damaged was now restored, as if nothing had ever happened.

'Okay, it's time I end this. I've played long enough.'

Kamish thought this as he gripped his longsword. He gripped the hilt tightly as he took a step forward, then another. He could feel something inside of him calling for revenge. As he closed in on the dragon, he raised the blade, ready to strike.

White flames danced upon the longsword. Kamish swung it down in an arc. A sea of fire flooded out in a single horizontal line. It cut through the ground. The dragon didn't even have time to react before the flames engulfed it. It screamed out in terror as it was consumed by the inferno.

Shatter!!!

Ice shot out—javelins of ice, floating in the air as if they were made of solid glass. As soon as the first one struck the ground, more followed after it. They were moving so fast that it looked as if they were shooting straight upward. Kamish couldn't dodge them all. Some of the shards pierced his Scales. Some bounced harmlessly off his tough scales. The last few slammed into his ribs, piercing through Kamish's scales and flesh.

Blood poured forth from the wounds as it flowed down his belly. His belly was being stabbed through with a pike of ice. But instead of falling back or being overwhelmed by the wound or the pain, he started to move his fingers. Kamish swung his longsword one more time.

[12 Consecutive Slashes]

One slash of fire struck out at the dragon. It blocked the attack with its ice armor. It had no choice but to block the attacks head-on. Kamish knew he wouldn't be able to keep blocking forever, so he kept swinging. Each swing of the blade was accompanied by an explosion of fire. The dragon was surrounded in a storm of white fire. The heat was intense—it felt like a thousand suns were shining down on him.

Swoosh!!!

More and more slicing infernos struck the dragon. They sliced through the dragon's armor. The dragon's eyes grew wide with fear. It tried desperately to escape the onslaught, but it couldn't get away. It flailed its wings, trying to fly out of range, but the winds were too strong. They pushed against the dragon's wings, making it impossible to take flight.

It screeched loudly as it struggled to stay upright, the flames licking its skin, causing it to shriek in agony. Kamish continued to slash at the dragon relentlessly, slicing through its thick armor. It roared in anger as it swung its arms wildly, attempting to swat Kamish away by swishing its tail like a javelin, aiming for Kamish.

Kamish rolled to avoid it. The blow missed him, striking the ground and sending up a cloud of dust. Kamish had taken a hit. His body was covered in cuts and burns. The damage wasn't fatal yet, but it would kill him if it weren't treated quickly. He needed to finish this battle fast.

"Gah!!!!"

The pike of ice fell out of Kamish's ribs, causing blood to spurt from his wound. The puncture marks were still visible. More and more blood fell out as if it were a river flowing from his wound. The wound was deep—the pike of ice had been embedded deep inside his scales and flesh. Some of his scales were attached to his scattered flesh, causing the pain to feel like a thousand needles were constantly being stabbed inside the wound.

But instead of worrying about his wound—which was slowly regenerating—he decided to attack. Kamish struck out, swinging his sword, aiming for the dragon's limbs, getting closer and closer to the dragon's neck. The dragon flapped its wings once again, creating powerful gusts of wind, pushing Kamish backward.

The dragon's tail whipped around, aiming for Kamish's head. He ducked under it, avoiding it completely. He got close to the dragon, slashing at it multiple times, cutting open its scales as it flailed its arms frantically, trying to ward off the strikes. The dragon let out another loud cry as it started to lose control of itself.

As it began to fall, Kamish grabbed hold of the pike's shaft, using it as leverage. He pulled himself toward the dragon, grabbing onto the dragon's limb. As the dragon stumbled forward, unable to support its own weight, Kamish jumped up, landing right next to the dragon's face. He held onto his sword with both hands as he brought his knee into the dragon's nose.

He then twisted his torso, turning 180 degrees, bringing his leg up behind him. As he landed, he planted his foot firmly into the dragon's neck, crushing it. Fire adorned his foot, clinging to Kamish, burning his feet as he stomped on it repeatedly. The dragon's eyes were wide with shock as it tried to breathe out smoke. Kamish used that momentary weakness as he drove his heel further into the dragon's throat.

"Boom!!"

An explosion of ice and fire erupted inside the dragon's mouth as it died. Kamish took a step back, breathing heavily. His entire body was soaked with sweat. He looked at the dragon's corpse before him. There was a hole in its chest. A large amount of blood pooled around its body. The smell of death filled the air.

I did it...
