As soon as Thorn returned to the room, Elora sensed that he was in a bad mood.
Her brows rose slightly as she wondered what news had ruined his mood.
Thorn felt her gaze and didn't bother putting on a fake smile. He saw no reason to hide his emotions from her.
"What's wrong?" Elora asked curiously as soon as he pulled out a chair and sat down.
Thorn uncovered the food beside him before responding.
"Nothing. Just some irrelevant people who are trying to show off their existence."
His tone held disdain, edged with annoyance, as he took out the small veil containing the gray butterfly from his ring.
The butterfly flew across the table, hovering over each plate for a few seconds before moving to the next. This time, however, no colors appeared on its gray wings.
Seeing that the food was free of poison, they picked up their cutlery and dug in.
But after one bite, Elora placed her spoon down and wiped her lips.
