"Yuxi, wait, you shouldn't..." Mu Yunchen started, but she was already there, climbing onto his bed with desperate, clumsy movements, not caring about IVs or monitors or medical equipment.
Her hands found his face immediately, cupping his cheeks with both palms, fingers trembling as they traced every feature like she was memorizing him through touch. His forehead, his cheekbones, the line of his jaw... mapping him, confirming he was solid and real and actually there.
"You're really here," she whispered, her voice breaking. "You're really awake."
Before he could respond, she kissed him.
Not gently. Not carefully. But desperately, hungrily, like she was trying to breathe him in, to confirm his existence through taste and touch and the warmth of his mouth against hers. Her fingers slid into his hair, holding him close, angling his head to deepen the kiss even as tears streamed down her face.
