Due to his subconscious scouting of the entire area he'd found himself, one of those distinctions he found in the area as compared to the other areas was fruit.
Not the kind the outer sections' trees carried — those were the small, dense-skinned things that high-essence environments typically produced, more essence than nutrition, edible but not particularly satisfying as food.
The inner section's trees carried something else, the larger formations he had been passing through for the last hour having produced, in the places where the canopy broke enough to allow the light that fruiting required, clusters of something he had not seen elsewhere in this forest.
He spotted a low-hanging cluster on a tree to Fenrir's right.
The tree was wide enough that the lowest branches were still well above his head while mounted, but the specific cluster he had spotted was on a branch that had grown outward from the main trunk at an angle that brought it lower than the others.
