Shuichi was actually quite picky about where he slept; he required a soft, body-contouring mattress and a latex pillow. Without these, he simply couldn't get a good night's rest.
Fortunately, the Ogawa sisters were very considerate and had everything prepared for him. This allowed him to enjoy a comfortable night of sleep, waking up fresh and relaxed. After cleaning himself up in the morning, he headed out.
He grabbed breakfast at a ramen shop before setting off for school with the Akiyama sisters.
An was skipping along in front of them, clearly in high spirits—last night, she had finally gotten what she desired.
Tsuki, on the other hand, looked quite resentful. "Did the master go to a salon last night? His little maid didn't even get to serve him when he woke up this morning."
Shuichi replied irritably, "I'll ask Fumika-san about that next time. I'm taking you to see Hajime-sensei at noon today; that should satisfy you, right?"
Tsuki's eyes immediately lit up. "I get to have lunch with Hajime-sensei?"
"More or less. But since it's your first time, don't go overboard. Let me explain the current situation and what you need to do."
Once at school, things were a bit difficult for Shuichi to manage, but he wasn't in a hurry to drag Tsuki and Sumire to the woods for 'breakfast.'
For one, everyone was busy in the morning and there wasn't much time. He tended to take quite a while these days, and a quick break just wouldn't cut it. Second, the temperature had dropped over the last two days, with the daily high barely reaching the teens.
Because of this, Shuichi hadn't gone to the woods yesterday morning. Instead, he had skipped math class to head to the Student Council President's office with Tsuki and Sumire.
As for today... it was time for class.
Shuichi actually focused for once, settling down to study properly. However, his sudden display of being a model student made Sumire feel uneasy.
He hadn't called her to the woods in the morning, nor had he asked her to the President's office during the break. What was he playing at?
By the third period, when Sumire arrived to teach, she finally couldn't hold it in anymore. After calling on a student to read aloud, she casually stepped down from the podium and walked toward Shuichi, who was sitting in the back row by the window.
She stealthily gave his desk a little kick with her foot.
However, Shuichi simply looked up at her once, said nothing, and went right back to his book.
It's over...
A sense of dread welled up inside Sumire. Is this guy really going to just abandon me? Everything was fine yesterday, so what happened today? Is he bored of me? Does he think I'm not worth the effort anymore? Or is he playing hard to get, waiting for me to make a move?
"Chiba-kun, you read the next paragraph."
Sumire tapped on his desk, refusing to leave. She even deliberately stood close to him, using her body to block the line of sight from the rest of the class.
Shuichi didn't react much. He stood up, read the passage normally, and sat back down immediately.
Sumire's heart sank. Such a perfect opportunity just now, and he did nothing...
After finishing the class in a daze, she made up a random excuse to call Shuichi out.
The two arrived at their familiar corner. Sumire checked to make sure no one was around before she couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong today? You didn't even bring me breakfast."
"Nothing's wrong. There just wasn't enough time," Shuichi replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
After enduring the final morning class, Shuichi headed toward the infirmary at noon, accompanied by an equally excited Tsuki.
An, the little idiot, was quite unhappy about being left alone for lunch. If Shuichi hadn't shared some of his bento with her, she probably wouldn't have been so easily pacified.
On the way, the two went over the "script" one last time. Once they were sure everything was set, Shuichi knocked on the infirmary door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Hearing the familiar rhythm, Naomi reflexively tucked away her handkerchief, stood up, walked to the door, and waited.
But after waiting a moment, she suddenly remembered—they had agreed that Shuichi would bring the Student Council President with him today!
In other words... she wouldn't be able to be intimate with him today. In fact, starting from today, they would have to truly keep their distance.
In an instant, Naomi's heart sank. A powerful wave of regret surged uncontrollably—she shouldn't have forced him to bring someone else yesterday.
Even though she knew it was the right thing to do, she could have turned a blind eye and dragged it out for a few more days. It would have been better to wait until there was absolutely no other choice before ending it completely. That way, she could have spent a few more days with him.
But she was so decisive yesterday...
"Chiba-kun... are you alone?"
Naomi held onto a sliver of hope, wishing he would be a "bad boy" just this once and ignore her instructions. She hoped to open the door and see that handsome, lazy face of his, acting like a rogue and forcing his way inside.
However...
"Sensei, I've brought the President."
That was what he said from outside.
Naomi's heart skipped a beat, followed by a surge of irrational resentment. He ignores me so many times, yet he chooses to be obedient right now!
Her emotions were a mess, but she couldn't lose her composure. She patted her cheeks, forced herself to calm down, and opened the door.
"Sorry for the intrusion, Hajime-sensei."
Tsuki's face appeared before her, radiating the bright aura of youth.
Seeing this, Naomi sighed inwardly. Yes, this age, this youthful energy... this is what truly suits Shuichi-kun.
"It's no problem, come in," Naomi squeezed out a smile and welcomed them.
As per his usual habit, Shuichi locked the door behind him once they were inside, but the distracted Naomi didn't notice.
"By the way, Chiba-kun, the reason you brought her is..." Naomi suddenly thought of this crucial question.
It would make sense for a boy to bring the girl he was pursuing to meet his parents, but to meet a teacher? There had to be a proper reason.
"Hm? Didn't Sensei want to see her?" Shuichi looked genuinely confused.
Naomi immediately got a bad feeling. This little brat... did he tell her the truth? No, wait, he's not that stupid. He's actually incredibly cunning.
"Shall we start now?" Shuichi suddenly asked.
"Start what?" Naomi blinked.
"Didn't you say you wanted proof? Proof that I'm pursuing the President, and the things she's been doing to me."
Shuichi's matter-of-fact tone made Naomi nervous again. Just what on earth had he told this girl?
"Oh... okay." Naomi was feeling a bit overwhelmed. She couldn't ask him directly in front of the Student Council President, so she could only nod and play along.
Shuichi waved Tsuki over, and the girl ran over with great enthusiasm.
Naomi's panicked heart suddenly grew calm as she watched this. The autumn sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains of the infirmary, bathing him and her in a soft, ethereal glow. It was a beautiful sight.
Naomi had thought she might feel jealous or stifled. But seeing them together like this, all she felt was a sense of closure—a tranquil peace mixed with a tinge of melancholic loss.
This... is for the best, right?
Though she was loath to let go, there was no other way. Ultimately, she was probably just addicted to the pleasure he provided. Otherwise, why wasn't she jealous?
While Naomi was dazed, Shuichi let go of Tsuki and walked toward her, hugging her without a word.
Naomi snapped back to reality and tried to push him away. "Are you crazy? Doing this in front of Akiyama-san?" she hissed in a low voice.
"Don't worry, Sensei. Just look at her expression first."
Shuichi held Naomi tightly. He knew success or failure depended on this moment, so he refused to let go no matter what.
"What expression? She must be furious that you—"
Naomi stopped mid-sentence. Looking over Shuichi's shoulder, she saw Tsuki's face. There wasn't a hint of anger. Instead, she looked like she was itching to join in, her face full of anticipation.
Shuichi began to explain, his voice low: "Sensei said the President was a good match for me, so I went after her. But in private, she's a completely different person from her public image."
"You mean... the 'strange' things you mentioned?"
Naomi's mind was spinning. She even forgot to stop Shuichi's wandering hands as she stared blankly at the now "unmasked" Tsuki.
"Yeah. It's not just what I told you before. She's... actually even weirder. You could even call her a total deviant," Shuichi sighed, as if recalling a painful memory. "Sensei probably can't even imagine how crazy she can get. She's really put me through the wringer."
Naomi couldn't help but swallow hard. Had her persistence really pushed Shuichi-kun into a pit of fire?
"What... what exactly has she done?"
Shuichi's expression turned conflicted. "She's a total exhibitionist. She often drags me to the woods or onto the trains—public places—to do very dangerous things. We've nearly been caught so many times; I've almost faced total social death..."
Listening to Shuichi's complaints about the "nympho" President, Naomi frowned. This was indeed not good. Her previous decision seemed to have been too hasty. She had assumed a high-achieving Student Council President would be a better choice for Shuichi, but now it seemed that wasn't the case at all.
"Also, does Sensei know why she's willing to do all those things with me, yet refuses to date me officially?" Shuichi sighed again.
"Why?" Naomi asked, her curiosity piqued. She had always found that strange and had even suspected Shuichi was making up stories to deceive her.
Shuichi's eyes flickered. "Because rather than being my girlfriend, she'd much rather be..."
"?!!" Naomi was completely stunned. That's her fetish?
As a health teacher, she wasn't unaware that such psychological proclivities existed, but knowing they existed and seeing it happen right in front of her were two different things!
It seemed she had made a terrible mistake, pushing Shuichi-kun right into the clutches of a freak!
Regret and guilt washed over Naomi in waves.
"And... the President actually knew about us for a long time. Back when we were in Sumire-sensei's kitchen, she knew exactly what was going on."
Naomi's head throbbed. Back then... When she was doing that with Shuichi right in front of the girl, Tsuki knew everything? She had been chatting with her on purpose?
"Furthermore... She's not actually interested in me. She's interested in the relationship between you and me, Sensei. She thinks it's thrilling."
As Shuichi spoke, he gave Tsuki a look. She immediately stepped forward.
"That's right. I've known for a while. But don't worry, Sensei, I won't tell anyone. It's just that..." Tsuki licked her lips.
"Just what?" Naomi's skin crawled. How did things turn out like this? What was she supposed to do now? She had tried to do what was best for Shuichi to avoid dragging him down, but she had ended up pushing him into an even deeper abyss!
"It's just that Sensei needs to continue your current relationship with Shuichi-kun," Tsuki said, her eyes shining with a terrifying intensity.
Compared to Sumire—that flawed and already somewhat unstable teacher—Naomi, this perfectly normal and professional health teacher, was far more interesting to Tsuki!
"Akiyama-san, what exactly do you want?" Naomi couldn't help but ask.
"Shuichi-kun already said it. Rather than being a girlfriend, I'd much rather be..."
