Ahh! Get away from me, you little pig, little Alex screamed out in horror while running away from little Emily. Stop running I just want to play with you, little Emily cried showing him her dirty little hands. Mummy, Alex doesn't want to play with me, little Emily cried as she ran towards her mum. What is it dear, Mrs. Silver asked. It's Alex, he doesn't want to play with me and he called me a little pig because he saw my hands. Mrs. Deborah, Alex's mom burst out laughing, and said, you should know that Alex is a neat freak. Come on, let's wash your dirty little hands, Mrs. Silver consoled little Emily.
Alex! Alex! my hands are clean now, let's play, little Emily said as she ran towards little Alex excitedly. Alright let's play, little Alex said as he urged her to sit down and they arranged the different puzzles and played other games.
FEW HOURS LATER
Alex, I want to ask you for something, do you promise to do as I say? little Emily asked. Yeah I will, Alex replied lazily giving her a doubtful look. I want to promise me that we will always be best friends forever no matter where we are and who we become in future, ok?, she said in one breath. Ok, I promise, little Alex said, sealing his promise with a handshake.
There you are, Mrs. Silver breathed out in relief. Let's head home, play time is over, say good bye to Alex, Mrs Silver said. Bye, little Emily said and reluctantly followed her mom.
TEN YEARS LATER
Little bug, hurry up we are going to be late for our first day, Alex whined in front of Emily's bedroom door. Suddenly Emily jumped on his back. I'm here loser let's go, Emily whispered in his ear. Yeah now get off me, he retorted, rolling his eyes. Can't you just give a piggy ride to the bus, Emily complained. No, Alex fired and continued, come on we are going to miss the bus if we keep delaying, he said and shrugged her off.
FEW MINUTES LATER
They both got off the bus and all the girls quickly crowded both of them and started making comments about him. Oh my gosh, he's become taller and cuter, look at those lips and nose, he's gonna be a good model, I wish I could kiss those lips, I wish I could spend a date or a day with him, how can someone be so perfect; brain, check, body, check, everything is in intact... Wow I am invisible to them, Emily said. At least you would never find a loser who draws this much attention from all the girls in his school, Alex muttered under his breath while smirking at the girls.
Ugh, just shut up and stop trying to rub it in my face. I can't wait for lunch break, Emily said dreamily and Alex smacked her head. Ouch! what was that for? she asked glaring at him. The only thing you think of his food, how can someone be so unbothered about school when it determines their future, Alex scolded her. I'm sorry Father, Emily apologized mockingly and rolled her eyes. The school bell rang and everyone hastened their steps to their various classes.
INSIDE THE CLASSROOM
As they rushed into class, Emily met Alexa her second bestie. Oh my...baby, she squealed as she ran to hug Alexa. I thought you forgot about me, Alexa whined as she tightened the hug. I'm sorry for making you think I forgot about you, Emily apologized lovingly. I forgive a bunnie, Alex smiled as they pulled away from each other. Yeah, that's enough drama, let's have our seats, Alex said nonchalantly as he motioned to their seats at the back of the class. AThey all got sitted as the teacher entered the class and began the first class of the day. Half way through the lesson, Emily noticed that Alexa has passed a note to her. She quickly opened it as it read thus "Have to told him yet?" She quickly smiled and wrote a reply" No, why would I? I'm afraid of losing my friendship with him" and passed back to Alexa. After a while, Alexa passed the note back to her again " You have to tell him and go ahead with the flow of whatever happens. At least after this year we'll get to see each other less so it won't be that awkward. C'mon grow up". "Alright I'll try", Emily replied solemnly as she tried to focus back on what the teacher explained.
Ding! The bell rang at the end of the fourth period signifying lunch time. Finally it's lunch time, Alexa and Emily said in unison. They all headed to the school cafeteria, after getting served and settling down in their seats. Guys, what school are choosing for university? Alexa asked to break the silence. I don't know yet but I think it's going to be private and prestigious university based on my parents preferences not like I have much of a choice, Alex replied first. Oh as for me, I think a school with a good reputation and high educational standards, Alexa answered with lazy eyes. What about you, Alexa asked Emily who was lost in thought as she stared at Alex dreamily. Ermmm..I think I'll go to whatever school my parents choose as long as it's not too strict or uptight, Emily answered carefully.
Oh I wish we could all go to the same university, Emily whined. Oh.. don't forget we have an exclusive senior's camp this weekend, Alexa said gleefully. Oh really, I can't wait, Emily responded with all smiles. After lunch, they went back to class and went through the rest lessons for the day. Sing! The final bell for the day rang and teacher left the class followed my the students and soon the class was empty leaving just the tree of them in the class. So where are we hanging this week? Emily asked. Yours! Alex and Alexa shouted in unison. Ughh, alright let's get going , Emily said lazily as she stood up grabbed her bag and dragged her feet behind Alex and Alexa who were arguing about something. As soon as they got home, they all freshened up and came back to the mini living room for only close family members as they did their assignments, studied for a while and began marathon watching of movies.
