Chi Yue's heart sank. "Could it have been a mistake?"
Fu Mianmian said, "She picked me up from kindergarten before, and all the kids know her."
After calming Fu Mianmian's emotions, Chi Yue made a phone call to Fu Rongyin.
Fu Rongyin, either busy or not, didn't answer the phone.
Chi Yue had a plan in mind.
Fu Rongyin called back just before getting off work, sounding very weary, "You called me?"
"Yes, I was wondering if you could come home early tonight. Mianmian said she hasn't seen you in a long time."
Fu Mianmian went to bed early, and Fu Rongyin got home late. Since he left early in the morning, the father and daughter had been missing each other.
Fu Rongyin thought for a moment, then said, "I'll try to come back early tonight."
Chi Yue hesitated to speak.
Sensing something was off, Fu Rongyin asked, "What do you want to say?"
"Nothing, let's talk when you get back."
