We wandered through the small store, looking over the various dubious materials hat hung from the walls and the sparse potions that hid behind various woven handbags and backpacks. My observation section was pinging off and on, the varying qualities and aspects of the items flittering into my consciousness as I walked past. Honestly, the only interesting thing, asides from the spell components, was the singular potion of Stone Giant's Strength.

The description given to me explained that the potion would temporarily increase my strength for up to an hour. No specific numerical stat increases were shown, but it was still an intriguing effect. Elaris seemed to think so too, her sparkling emerald eyes lingering on the potion for a few more seconds than even I did. Her loitering gaze upon the item was something that filled my thoughts until the old man stepped out once again, his hands filled with varying small nick-knacks and trinkets.

At least, they looked to be superfluous trash at first glance. To me, they were glowing orbs of treasure, the visual cue of purples, blues and even a singular orange was enough to have me salivating in delight.

---

|~Monocle of Seeing~| -Rare

This gem has 3 charges per day, speak the gem's command word and expend 1 charge.

Command Word: vide omnia

For the next 10 minutes, after expending a charge, you have true-sight out to 120 feet when you peer through this Monocle.

---

I was a little confused at what 'true-sight' was, but based upon the Latin it was something to 'see everything'. Honestly, it didn't sound too bad... Especially if it could see through invisibility. I scanned the other items as well...

---

|~Wand of Binding~| -Rare

This wand has 7 charges daily. If you expend the wand's last charge there is a 1/20 chance of the wand fading to dust.

For 5 charges you can cast the 'Hold Monster' 5th Weave Level Spell.

For 2 charges you can cast the 'Hold Person' 3rd Weave Level Spell.

This wand increases your ability to dodge projectiles, spells and other ranged attacks.

Must be Attuned.

---

|~Periapt of Proof against Poison~| -Rare

This soft silver necklace grants the wearer immunity to Poison and any conditions that Poison may have caused. User will take no damage from attacks that are Poison based.

---

Reading through the descriptions I couldn't help but want the wand and the necklace. Both apparently helped me survive and would also give me some adaptability when it came to a fight. The necklace was just godly considering the number of potentially poisonous creatures or spells in existence. Followed by the wand, well, the ability to literally just stop monsters and people when you wished; even if it was only a singular time, was powerful. Imagine the ability to just hold a creature with magic, then simply walk up and slit its throat... It was a menacing prospect.

---

|~Crystal Ball~| -Very Rare

While touching the Crystal Ball, you can cast the scrying spell without expending spell slots and without the need for components.

WARNING- It is advised to understand the Scrying Spell before using this item!

---

|~Ioun Stone of Regeneration~| -Legendary

An Ioun stone is named after Ioun, a god of knowledge and prophecy revered throughout multiple planes of existence. Many types of Ioun stone exist, each type a distinct combination of shape and colour.

When you toss one of these stones into the air, the stone orbits your head at a distance of 5-8 feet and confers a benefit to you.

A stone has 10 hit points, and resistance to all damage. It is considered to be an object that is being worn while it orbits your head. It is nigh-on impossible to hit this object let alone damage it.

Regeneration, Legendary Benefit. You regain 15 hit points at the end of each half hour this pearly white spindle orbits your head, provided that you have at least 1 hit point remaining.

!!! It is recommended to purchase this item for as cheap as can be managed !!!

---

My eyes were practically fucking the stone in the man's hand at this stage. The Crystal ball was bonkers powerful, but this made it seem like a toy in comparison. Luckily the old man didn't notice my nearly aghast expression and just dumped the items out on the table.

Elaris had noticed the item I was staring at, her brows furrowed slightly as she attempted to discern my fascination with the harmless looking white river stone. I'd tell her soon, but first I needed to get it for as cheap as possible.

"Here ye go lady, lemme know what ye be interested in." He splayed his hands out onto the counter.

I focussed on other items on the counter first, asking some small questions that were rapidly answered, not that I payed attention to the responses.

"Hmm, how much does the Crystal Ball cost?"

The old man hummed and harred for a time before narrowing his eyes.

"600 Gold pieces!" I choked on my spittle whilst Elaris blinked rapidly in confusion.

"What if, for that price, you throw in the little stone there?"

"I don't know... I'm already giving you a market price for the Crystal Ball there..." He really wasn't, but I wasn't going to dissuade him from selling the items to me at that ridiculously cheap price. Cheap for me I should clarify.

I let him deliberate whilst Elaris just began staring at me, her eyes boring into the side of my face whilst she seemed to lean backwards and forwards on the balls of her feet. 'She's certainly cute in her movements,' I mused.

"Sure! Ye can have the useless little stone and have the Crystal Ball for 600 Gold." I felt the urge to scream in delight but held it back by coughing into my hand and continuing onwards.

"What about the wand and the necklace there? How much do they cost?"

He smiled deeply, his wrinkled old face folding in on itself along his nose and mouth as he showed his pearly whites, which weren't that pearly nor white.

"1000 Gold for the wand and 300 Gold for the necklace." Elaris sputtered off to the side, her coughs drawing a slightly concerned look from the old gnome before she eventually stopped.

"I'll take them both." The old man's face shone like the sun as he pushed all of the items forwards across the countertop. He was extremely happy, actually, beyond happy... He was ecstatic. It felt like I was doing him a favour by taking them off his hands, rather than feeling guilty for swindling this man for such powerful magical items.

"Wonderful! Thanks for doin business with me, an old codger, hope ye items can at least help get ye out of the muck upon the road." I nodded, followed by Elaris, before the two of us stepped out.

Unfortunately for the old man he had also swept up the monocle, pushing it into the pile of things I had taken... A mistake that he would no doubt miss and I would never tell him of. As it was, we were on our way to Baldurs Gate, so we would likely never meet again. Elaris and I were briskly walking away as she looked over to me with a small smirk on her lips and a dazzling expression of coyness.

"You certainly got your money's worth, Lumina..." I licked my lips whilst looking over my shoulder, expecting the old man to probably come back and ask for it all back, not that that happened.

"Mhm, certainly got some cool items. It cost me most of my money, but it was worth it." Elaris simply stayed silent from then on, watching me and the people around as we slowly meandered back towards the Inn.

The journey didn't take very long, our position being relatively close to the Inn as it was. We walked through the front door of the Tavern/Inn right as Adaneth was flung backwards through the room in our direction. Her hair was flayed out as blood splattered around the room, her face swollen and purple as she twisted mid-air. She had been battered upon for some time, it looked like.

Taking in the room within this split moment I watched as several patrons were backing away in fear. The bar maids and bar tender were hunkering down behind the furniture whilst adventurers around the room were fighting each other. Swords and knives were drawn and blood was flowing over the previously beautiful polished oak floor boards. Either I was within a bar fight gone wrong, or some form of combat had started. Both options seemed dangerous to myself and my friends...

Elaris ran forwards to grab Adaneth whilst I walked forwards with as much confidence as I could muster. The room was chaotic and the man who had just punched one of my party members was stalking forwards with the intent to kill. Whoever started this was certainly bloodthirsty for this to be an adventurer's attitude within a town.

"Get back here bitch! You have to comfort me after hurting my friend like that!" His voice irked me immediately. It was nasally and rather uncouth, filled with all the bravado of whiskey or meed and none of the intelligence that separated most humanoids from animals.

I didn't feel the need to grace his stupidity with a witty response, violence is all he would understand at this point... I'd had to do this in Australia as well, some men and women getting too handsy with me... Only difference this time was the fact that I had magic flowing around me and within my veins.

"Tonitrus Unda, Ferire!" A wave of force pulsed out from me, weaving away from my allies and striking forwards towards the drunken imbecile. The air shuddered and screeched out in a gasp as chairs, tables and every little piece of detritus in-between those extreme was flung away from me into several groups of fighting men and women. Said imbecile before me was slapped with the full brunt of the Thunderwave spell as he was picked up and thrown like a ragdoll back into the bar, his back crunching and cracking in several places as whiplash knocked him unconscious.

Silence ushered in before the spell completed and an almighty thunder crack cascaded into the room, deafening everyone besides those I considered allies. If the fighting hadn't have stopped when I cast my magic, it had definitely ceased now. Every single person was staring at me with a mixture of shock and awe; the staff and innocents, or, fear and trepidation; the idiots who were fighting. Many were merely waiting to see where my dice fell on the table, so to speak. If I was on their side they would continue, if I wasn't, they would flee.

It was within this lull in combat that I decided to query them all.

"Would anyone mind telling me who started this fight and why?"

No one spoke, not even Adaneth who was currently leaning into Elaris for support; still prone on the floor.

"No one...?" Several women shrugged, their daggers, swords and spears all at the ready.

"Ummm, the guy you just... knocked out, began it." I nodded to the teenage barmaid who had decided today was the day for courage.

"Okay. Does anyone know why all you lot joined in?" The same girl began once more.

"It's a bar fight. Everyone joins in when one starts."

I facepalmed so hard that everyone could almost physically feel the slap hit them as well. I was surrounded by idiots and dunderheads. They just wanted a reason to fight and this provided them an opportunity...

"Why-" My voice became slightly strangled in frustration, "then, would you all draw steel and begin trying to murder one another???"

There was some awkward coughing before a man spoke up this time.

"Well, Nathaniel insulted me wife's fidelity! I drew on the young bastard and everyone followed I s'pose." Looking around the room several people shrugged whilst nodding, as if all of them were accepting the fact that, that, was indeed the moment when everything became more deadly.

Elaris looked just as haggard at their reasoning as I did... Or perhaps it was just her sympathy for me in this predicament? I didn't know, but my lingering gaze upon her drew her attention and a delicate sigh from her. It was an action that I followed through with, the sigh escaping my own mouth as if it were an airlock and I was a spaceship hovering in space; loud and slightly whining.

"All of you will stop now. Anyone who starts it up again will be blasted into a wall, like that drunk twit." I pointed at the brute from earlier, his head hanging over his chest with drool leaking down the front of his chest plate.

Several nods later and the room was starting to be mended, adventurers and normal people tidying it up whilst I watched over them all with so much chagrin that they could no doubt taste it crawl up their throats. Honestly, they were all like a bunch of kids who'd been caught with their hands in the cookie jar and the money jar... If they weren't all so fucking stupid I would have probably laughed at the situation.

This, was the position that the rest of my party saw me and Elaris in when they returned, all of them frowning or gaping at the fact that the adventurers all acted like scolded children in front of me.

"Hey, hey, hey! What happened here!?"

"A lot..." Elaris rolled her eyes at my answer before chuckling into her hand at the expression Adaneth sported at my words; bewilderment and regret.
