Valery didn't care about the family; she felt nothing for them. The only one she cared about here was Victor. Perhaps she would only care about them if the family belonged to her people, to the humans in her territory. But that wasn't the case, and Valery didn't believe they would become part of her people in the near future.
So the life and death of this family was not in Valery's hands, it was in Victor's hands, and Valery agreed to cooperate in protecting them for Victor, but if it came to that, Valery would sacrifice this family for Victor's well-being.
Victor let go of Valery and checked on the condition of the boy and the woman. Stephen was fine and sat down for a moment, rubbing his nose and looking at the blood coming out of it.
Stephen looked at the blood and the photo on his fingers, his eyes filled with confusion. Everything happened so fast that even his anger had subsided. Instead, he became cautious before giving her a resentful look.
