Chapter 14 - How to move Forward

"It seems I have been a fool."

Shain's words lingered in the air like ominous harbingers of a devastating omen.

Rachel watched her brother for a long moment.

She sighed, resisted her impulse to rub her tired eyes or throbbing temples, and lookes directly into her eldest brother's eyes.

"I don't think so brother. In this room are the trusted few, there are a few more who should be here, but everyone here is above reproach.

"Tell us the truth, tell us what is actually going on? Does this have something to do with the Lanstra?"

Everyone seemed to slide forward in their seats. Cer spoke first.

"Espionage?" He glanced at Shain incredulous. "You almost got Anis killed due to moves of intrigue?"

Bre swallowed a mouth full of deep purple liquid before he spoke. "But Althius and Sublyme are..."

Shain wiped his hand over his face and interrupted his brother. "Sublyme is Lanstra and Althius will soon be." His eyes begin to glow purple as he turned to Rachel.

"We knew we could not keep anything from you due to your connection to the Lanstra."

She shook her head. "I purposely stay out of Lanstra business. I only know what is going on when you need me to, and you come to me."

She sat back in her chair and thought about things for a long moment.

"We all need to move past this now. We can not allow this to divide us." She sighed.

"What was thr goal with all of this? Surely not my return."

Shain shook his. "No. We need to access Small Color."

"The penal continent run by the Kefs." Bre's tone was of exasperation. "There is always some problem when they are involved."

"This is not true brother. You just don't like Small Color, we all know that." Mis was looking intently at Shain as he spoke, as if he was trying to find a lie within his posture. In the end he chose to trust Rachel.

As he thought this everyone looked to Rachel.

She shrugged. "Come on Fate Weaver, let's build a fate map and see if we can track this un-names chaos."

Anis smiled and rose. She, Rachel, and Shain all moved to the center of the room. Here the ceiling was black and to stand under it made one feel like there was a heavy weight being pressed down on their shoulders.

Most would feel uncomfortable, some would not be able to endure, and still others would be instantly cursed, it all depended on the person's sensitivities and capabilities.

Anis, Rachel, and Shain were probably the three most powerful wielders of fate magic in the realm, and this place, were fates converged was nothing more than an intense pool of magic for them.

Both their sensitivity and capability out weighed the influence of this particular convergence.

Anis began, her soft amethyst eyes blazed a dark smoky purple, wisps of purple rose from her as fate magic began to coalesce from within her being. It flowed slowly then, in several threads, became torrents of magic. The threads rose up into the thick blackness of the space strumming fate lines as they went.

A dense mesh of fate lines Wes revealed, silver and black lines crisscrossed as Anis' magic rose and moved through and across them.

Purple smoke rose from the lines and began to coalesce into a large dense cloud.

Then Shain began. His eyes turned smoky grey as purple magics streamed forth to enhance and support his sister. His magic surrounded and wove through the magic of his sister and together they began to tell a story.

The cloud quadrupled in size and began to engulf the space, and slowly the realm began to materialize before them. Twelve continents floating within a light band of purple, above a wide thick band of darker purple, almost black in color, that felt ominous even to the these two.

"Rachel, some guidance please."

Rachel nodded to her sister's request and, with a simple wrist flick, released a fate guiding and defining sorceric spell. The spell quickly wove into the spellwork of the other two, connecting the two spells into one and causing the fate map to burst, almost instantly, into fullness.

Rachel's eyes went wide as the black dots of chaos filled the space of the map, there didn't seem to be one area of Trannisa free of chaos. With a giant know of chaos looming large and dark within the Abyss.

"Of course it's in the Abyss. We no hardly anything about the Abyss."

Rachel nodded and then smiled. "Well Mis, it would seem you are about to have your dreams come to fruition."

He smiled knowingly.

Rachel turned back to the table and sat down.

"We train, we get better at our innate magics, we study this fate map and then we come back together and we fight this together, in a coordinated assault.

"Bre, Cer, I don't need to tell you your duties. I will be on Azzit as well. I can spar with you and the guard if need be."

The two guard generals nodded curtly.

"Mis, Emil, we need you two to learn, understand, and maybe even define some new chaos concepts.

"Go to Kannan Continent and dive deep into the great library. "

Anis spoke up before anyone else could, her eyes never leaving the pulsating fare map above her.

"I will go with them. The library has fate rooms that can help me see a bit better, maybe I can help find what it is we are looking for."

Rachel nodded. "Rebecca, Struns, and Cramnal come with me to the rainbow falls. You can work on getting to know your three new acquisitions, Cramnal can learn to stop relying so much on portal and traveler magics, and Struns..." She paused, her eyes flicking to Anis. "You know what you need to work on."

She stopped and looked at Shain.

"And what will thr three of you do?"

"We will go with you, pretend we have been disgraced, and I will go to Small Color, while they are pardoned and able to return to the Conglomerate."

"All planned out?"

"All ...planned... out."

Rachel nodded, "then you will be with me, and Althius and Sublyme will natural be with the guard."

She looked to the Azmin guard captains. "You and your generals explain this well to you soulmates. I do not want this splitting the guard. The other captains can help keep everything together and they have a right to be in the loop."

Both nodded and saluted her.

Rachel nodded in satisfaction. She raised her arm in an arc as her fingers quickly created several sigils in the are. The room began to smell of musty woods and books as a large set of wooden double doors formed before her.

They seemed ancient, and somehow, wise, with deep etchings flowing across them of several different languages.

They swung in and a large hooded figure appeared. Their hood was wide and no facial features could be seen. Their roobes were dense, with only a few rippling folds, and they hung long, pooling around them.

A deep, yet melodic, voice thrummed the air as they spoke. "You called Milana?"

"Yes Breccor take the Alvian, Fate Weaver, and the Doctor to the main library. There is a chaos amongst us that we need to better understand."

Breccor nodded gently. "There is much in the library to help with this and these three are always welcom." He focused on Mis. "And perhaps our Alvian will begin to truly embrace his duties."

Mis said nothing. He simply stepped forward, followed by the other two and stepped through the open door. Breccor bowed to Rachel, turned and walked back through the door.
