Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Social Status

"A world where your blood determines your place in society, your future, education, job, opportunities, even your home."

"These laws are set in stone by the system and goverment, no one is above the law."

"There are six Blood factions. Gold, Silver, Black, Blue, Green, and Red."

"Five of these factions possesse supernatural powers, and have a clear sense of hierarchy."

"The Golds are the high class, the ones selected to lead the country, and have priviligeds far beyond imagination. The so called elites, the top dogs, akin to gods or so were taught at least. Their supernatural power is lightning control."

"Then there's the Silvers, many of them are bootlickers for the Golds, but the few that aren't, could be considered as high ranking Golds. That could hold more power and influence than another high ranking Gold,

But are considered below for the courtesy of keeping the power balance. Their the intellect of humanity. Their supernatural power is telekinesis."

"Then there's the Blacks, humanity's privileged soldiers, that slack off most of the time and still live undeservingly privileged lives. Arrogant, many only know of how to bully the weak and boast of their power. They are humanity's stronghold, and it's forces against itself, or any other form of threat to humanity's wellbeing. I don't know what wellbeing their are talking about though. They are the elite's lap dogs most of the time. Their supernatural power is fire control."

"Then there's the Blue bloods, humanity's saviors, the doctors. Although for being the saviors they don't get treated very well. You could save somebody's grandmother and they wouldn't give you a second glance. Their power is healing, which is quite fitting if you ask me."

"Then there is the Greens, most of them are kind lot, and the other half is throbbingly mean. But they usually never act on any of their words, like ever, so that's what earned them the nickname "tellers of lies." They are the human races farmers, and are pretty good at their job, probably has something to do with them doing it since the stone ages but that's just an informative guess. Most of the food they produce goes to the higher bloods though. Their supernatural power is nature and all that green stuff."

"And the last and definitely least we got the Red's, the 6th blood faction, my faction."

"You didn't need to state the obvious Noah but whatever," Roy says vexingly.

"I'll say what ever I want," I respond.

"Sure."

I choose to ignore Roy's comments. I know that he doesn't like to acknowledge his background, much less be educated on it.

"Can you two lovebirds stop the wrangle already? I'm tryna learn." The boy says cheekily.

"Lovebirds!" Both me and Roy yell the word at the same time exasperated.

"Stop yelling and get on with the lecture already, I have a test coming up ya know." The boy responds irritatingly.

"You're lucky I don't hit kids," I say rubbing my temple.

"Well I do hand him over," Roy said reaching over me to get to the boy. simultaneously I move out of the way.

"If you wanna abuse a little kid in public do it when I'm not around to see it," I say uncharitably. "If you're worried about the body I've got it covered," Roy says to me impishly.

"What?" The boy uttered, cleary alarmed.

Hearing the fear in the boys voice I quickly rush to give assurance.

"It's alright he was just kidding," I quickly explained. "Really?" The boy asked his frantic expression lessening.

"Absolutely." I swiftly reaffirmed his statement.

At the declaration the last of apprehension dissipated from the boy's face, replaced by a cheeky smile. "I knew it, nobody would dare threaten me," the boy voices his thoughts boastfully.

At that Roy scoffs but knows better than to argue.

"Can I continue now?" I ask looking at both for confirmation.

"Sure whateves," Roy says trying to sound unbothered.

"Yeah yeah, continue with the history lesson," the boy says with his usual attitude.

"As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, we got the Red's, the 6th blood faction—my faction. Humanity's labour force, the trash of mankind very expendable and easily replaceable—that's what were told, at least.

If you're born a Red almost instinctively you'll be looked down upon wholly, by all mankind. The labour is even more agonising. When you're young, you're still worked to the bone, but it's not even comparable to when you turn sixteen. Because that's when the real hell start's.

If you do not obey, you'll be killed and tortured without hesitation.

That's the life of a Red, heavy discrimination, excrutiating work out's everyday, Dehydration and starvation. The only fate for a Red is to die the most painful death, and live the most meaningless life.

What makes it even worse though, and easier for the other factions to treat us like shit, is that we didn't even get a power.

They say that we lost our power through out time because of our greed and selfishness, I think that's a load of crap though. Because if that were true than all the blood factions should have lost their powers."

"Because all are a bunch of greedy pigs."

"True that," Roy said out loud.

"In the legend's, it is said that one Red, the chosen one, would gain the long lost abilities of the Red's and bring us to a new age. A story fed to young Red's, a tale of a better future, but in truth just a mad man's ideology to feed to the Red's. A fiber of hope for a better future, of a rebellion."

"Of couse it's bullshit though, I know what my future holds. Dying at twenty from either dehydration, starvation, murder, perhaps even suicide.

I'm not gonna die before my brothers though.

I've accepted my fate, enjoyed my 15 years of life, if you can even call that enjoynment. Until my destiny takes it form, until my sixteenth birthday to be clearer."

"Until I die," I think out loud.
