A Reckless Challenge on Daxue Mountain
The apocalypse had arrived, and most people were desperately seeking food and safety. But there was a unique group of people—thrill-seekers who lived for adrenaline and cared little for life or death.
In Sichuan Province, the perpetually snow-covered Daxue Mountain was the site of their latest challenge. Eight of these thrill-seekers—five foreigners and three from the Dragon Kingdom—had come to the mountain to complete a high-stakes skiing challenge. The apocalypse meant nothing to them; their sole purpose was to seek spiritual pleasure and push their limits. They had been living in the area for two weeks, and even with the end of the world, their resolve was unshaken. For them, death was acceptable as long as they completed their challenge and made a name for themselves.
"Hey, guys, we're about to start the challenge. Let's take a group photo first," Yang Wei said, holding up his phone.
"Come on, let's take a picture," the others responded.
"Little Yang, take a picture of me and Thomas first."
"Got it."
As Yang Wei was about to snap the photo, he spotted six enormous frost giants behind his friends. He immediately screamed, "Run!" and took off, his expert skiing skills allowing him to escape at a blistering speed.
The other seven were confused until they heard the commotion behind them. They looked back and were instantly frozen in terror. Six massive frost giants were staring at them.
"How can an iceman that big even move?" one of them muttered, unable to comprehend the sight.
In a single leap, a frost giant crushed two of the skiers to death. The remaining five tried to escape, but the other giants gave chase. In less than twenty seconds, all seven were killed. Only Yang Wei escaped, thanks to his incredible speed. Although he didn't fear death, his instinct for survival took over.
Yang Wei skied all the way down the mountain, relieved once he was safe. He then uploaded the video he had filmed with a title: "Thrilling! A huge iceman appears on top of Daxue Mountain!"
The video immediately sparked a heated debate online.
"My God, I've never seen such a big iceman before."
"Are you sure this is Daxue Mountain? I went there a couple of years ago and didn't see anything like that."
"It must be a monster that appeared from the earth's fissures because of the apocalypse."
"What a bunch of idiots! Why would you go there instead of staying home?"
"I admire them. I'm over here stealing potatoes from my neighbor just to survive, and you guys are skiing?"
"A jumping zombie just showed up at my door. I'm trapped. Can anyone save me?"
"Hey, call the police right away!"
"Crazy! Blogger, how are your friends doing now?"
"@War God Team, there are high-level monsters here. Come check it out."
A New Lead and a Solo Mission
Back in the villa on the Floating Island, Yuto Saito and Yun Yun had just returned via teleportation. They had been looking for a tyrannical salamander.
Natto asked, "Brother Su, you didn't find it?"
Yuto Saito shook his head. "I didn't. I can sense the tyrannical salamander's aura is very weak. It appeared, but it's not here anymore."
Natto sighed. "That's a shame. We're only missing one material."
Mifen reminded them, "We're not just missing one sixth-order material; we're also missing five inner alchemy."
Yuto Saito reassured them. "It's alright. We'll keep an eye on the news online. When we find more high-level monsters, we'll take action."
Yun Yun asked the others, "Have you picked up all of your friends?"
Hu Tuan'er: "Yes, I've brought all of them over."
Mifen said to the group, "I have 100 King Kong Pills on me. Everyone can have seven first."
Yuto Saito said, "Natto and I won't need them. We have the Golden Bell Shield, so we don't need King Kong Pills."
Natto agreed. "That's right. You guys can just split them up."
Mifen said, "Okay, so there are 11 of us. You'll get nine each, and I have one left."
Yun Yun told her, "You can keep the extra one."
Mifen: "I'll give it to Chu Chu. She just joined and is relatively inexperienced in combat."
Ye Chuchu smiled sweetly. "Thank you, Sister Xianxian."
After distributing the pills, Mifen said, "Chu Chu and I are going to go refine some strengthening potions now."
Yuto Saito nodded. "Go ahead."
Mifen and Ye Chuchu walked toward the refining pharmacy.
Ni Shuang, looking at her phone, said, "Someone on the internet found a giant iceman. Come and see."
Yuto Saito watched the video of the six frost giants. He smiled and said, "Those are frost giants. Five of them are sixth-rank, and one is eighth-rank."
"Eighth-rank?" Chen Xinyu said in surprise. It was the highest-ranked monster they had discovered so far.
Ruoruo: "Wow, there are already eighth-rank monsters out there?"
Yuto Saito: "Of course. The number is very small right now, but as they continue to evolve, there will be more and more in the future."
Ruoruo: "That's okay. We're getting stronger, too."
Yuto Saito asked Ni Shuang, "What's the location?"
Ni Shuang replied, "The top of Daxue Mountain."
Yuto Saito: "I'll go."
Ni Shuang: "I'll go too."
Yuto Saito smiled. "No, there are only six of them, not 6,000. You only need to take action when the number is large."
"Okay, be careful," Ni Shuang said softly.
Yuto Saito used teleportation to go to Daxue Mountain. He didn't see the frost giants immediately, but he could sense their auras. He used his flight ability to follow the scents. Along the way, he saw seven corpses on the snowy mountains—the thrill-seekers who had met their end.
He found the frost giants on the back side of the mountain. Using his Psychic Power, he sent six flying knives out at once, killing them all in a single move. The six giants, each over ten meters tall, fell to the ground with a thud, sending snow flying.

He remembered that life and death grass, a key ingredient for the Detoxification Pill, was said to grow on cliffs at peaks over 3,000 meters. He thought since he was already here, he might as well look for it, hoping for an unexpected harvest.
Yuto Saito used his flight ability to search the area for the plant.
