Life in the Floating Community
In the floating community, Zhou Shuyi ventured next door, to room 2302, to visit.
"Hello, Yumeng, Shenshen," Zhou Shuyi greeted warmly. "How are the other two in your dormitory?"
Wang Yumeng replied, "Li Ge and Duo Bao are taking a bath."
Xiaoshen Shen said happily, "Sister Zhou, this Floating Island is really nice! Our living quarters are much more upscale than the girls' dormitory."
"That's for sure," Zhou Shuyi said proudly. "When you wanted to go to the shelter this morning, I told you to think it over. Turns out, I was right!"
Xiao Shen nodded. "Yes, both you and Yumeng felt it was safer to stay."
Wang Yumeng then asked, "Does Yuto Saito have any tasks for us? We feel like it's not right to just eat and live here without contributing." Wang Yumeng disliked owing favors. She didn't have any particular dislike for Yuto Saito, nor did she feel any special fondness, as they weren't friends. However, since Yuto Saito had taken them in, Wang Yumeng felt she should do something to reciprocate, or she'd feel guilty.
"I asked Ruoruo," Zhou Shuyi said. "She mentioned that a message will be sent to everyone before 9 PM to arrange tomorrow's work."
Wang Yumeng nodded slightly. "That's good."
Xiaoshen Shen smiled broadly. "When he first picked us up, Li Ge asked me if Yuto Saito planned to become an emperor and make us all his concubines! I almost died laughing."
Zhou Shuyi mused, "It's probably just that joining Yuto Saito's team is like becoming one of his 'women,' and if we don't join, we're more like maids."
"I'd rather be a maid," Wang Yumeng said coldly. "At least I'd have a choice. If I joined his team, I wouldn't even have the right to refuse."
Zhou Shuyi looked at Wang Yumeng. "Yumeng, why do I feel like you're hostile toward Yuto Saito?"
"No," Wang Yumeng replied. "I just hope my destiny is in my own hands. I don't want to easily entrust myself to others."
"It's fine for you to think that way," Zhou Shuyi said with a smile, "but Yuto Saito has arranged such a good place for us, we still need to thank him."
"I naturally thank Yuto Saito for taking us in," Wang Yumeng said in a cool tone. "But if he treats us like pets, I will never give in."
"Spoken like a true backbone!" Xiaoshen Shen cheered, giving Wang Yumeng a thumbs-up.
Zhou Shuyi said cheerfully, "It seems not every girl wants to join Yuto Saito's team. The girls in our dormitory can't wait to join, though."
"Everyone has their own aspirations, I understand," Wang Yumeng said. "But I live for myself and don't want to depend on others."
"It seems Yumeng has her own ideas," Zhou Shuyi remarked.
Xiaoshen Shen added, "Of course! Yumeng is also an Awakened, and she has a bright future ahead of her."
In the apocalypse, Awakened individuals were a minority, so it was normal for them to have their own strong opinions. Wang Yumeng even harbored ambitions of forming her own power and becoming a dominant figure; she didn't want to live under anyone's thumb for long. However, for the current Wang Yumeng, this goal was challenging. With only one-star combat power, she could at most only take on a first-order zombie leader by herself.
Seaside Views and Hot Spring Chats
On the other end, after taking a shower, Yuto Saito came to the top floor of the villa. Today, Douyu University was deserted; even the principal had gone to the shelter. Yuto Saito's thoughts moved, and the entire Floating Island ascended and began to drift toward the seaside. The Floating Island moved swiftly, reaching the coast of X City in less than a minute. Yuto Saito then lifted the protective shield. A cool sea breeze brushed his face as a bright moon hung high in the sky.
Chen Xinyu, soaking in the hot spring, looked up and exclaimed in surprise, "Hey, Yuqi, the protective shield is gone!"
Yuqi looked up as well. "Yes, the moon tonight is very beautiful."
"It's so comfortable soaking in the hot spring," Chen Xinyu said emotionally. "It washes away all the tiredness."
Just then, Hu Tuan'er and Mifen arrived.
Mifen smiled. "Hello, Yuqi, Xinyu. We're going to take a bath in the hot spring too."
"Come on in!" Yuqi smiled.
Hu Tuan'er and Mifen entered the hot spring.
"Wow, Hu Tuan'er, Mifen, you both have great figures!" Chen Xinyu complimented.
Hu Tuan'er smiled. "You two are also in great shape!"
"Yuqi, you're even more curvaceous than I thought."
"You're not bad either, beyond my expectations! Your figure is beautiful..."
The four women engaged in a round of compliments.
"By the way," Mifen said, "I have good news for you, Xinyu. The captain has agreed to let you join the team!"
Hearing this, Chen Xinyu was ecstatic. "Great! Yuqi, I can become as strong as you!"
"Congratulations, congratulations!" Yuqi was very happy. After all, Chen Xinyu was her friend, and her joining was a contribution to the team.
"However," Mifen added, "Xinyu must perform a talent."
"What kind of talent do I perform?" Chen Xinyu asked.
"Interpret three different ways to express sweetness and cuteness, classical temperament, and female devil," Mifen explained. "This was Nako's suggestion, hahaha!"
Yuqi smiled. "That's easy. Xinyu dances very well."
"What? My dancing is only average," Chen Xinyu said modestly.
"If your dancing skills are only average, then there are probably very few who can truly dance," Yuqi countered.
Hu Tuan'er asked, "Is Xinyu good at dancing?"
"I've studied for a while," Chen Xinyu replied, "and I'm relatively good at classical dance."
Hu Tuan'er said, "Classical dance is beautiful! There's a female classmate in our school named Xiaoshen who often dances in that style."
"Then it's settled," Mifen said. "The captain said to gather in the living room on the first floor of the villa at 8 o'clock to watch Xinyu's talent show."
"Xinyu, congratulations on joining the team!" Yuqi said cheerfully. "You must perform well!"
"No problem!" Chen Xinyu said happily.
News and Recruitment
In the villa, Natto came to the first-floor living room after taking a bath. Picking up her phone, she checked private messages and news.
Ni Shuang joined her after her shower. "Natto, what's the latest news?" she asked.
"The first-grade pharmacist replied," Natto responded. "She said she would consider it overnight and reply tomorrow."
"Is the other party a man or a woman?" Ni Shuang asked.
"Woman, her name is Ye Chuchu."
"A girl is good," Ni Shuang said. "If she comes here, she can be Mifen's assistant, and it will be more efficient to refine medicine pills in the future."
"It's still uncertain whether she'll come or not," Natto reminded her.
