Chapter 7 - Into the Depths

Jack walked back to the main lobby area with Jaxon. His head reeled from the thought of more people being here in this universe with him. At least these guys knew how this universe worked. As they approached the benches Jaxon gestured to a guy sitting down. "Yo, fiddlesticks! Look who I found!" Lieutenant Fiddlesticks quickly stood up from his chair. "Dude is that, Jack?!" He rushed over the Jaxon and Jack. "Now we have the two J's together." Jack was thrilled to see them, he really was. However, he didn't show much of a smile, he was still focused on the people inside Klescher. His people still needed him. Jaxon noticed that his friend seemed off. "Hey man, are you ok?" After a bit of a pause Jack ushered the two men to a near by bench and proceeded to explain his current situation.

Throughout the time Jack spoke, the two men gave him the courtesy of being quiet and letting him finish. Once he concluded Jaxon bowed his head and let out a big sigh, "welp, I'm glad we found you. We are in a similar boat. You see our families were taken to Klescher as well. Before meeting up with you, we were trying to figure out how to get them out." This was Jack's chance, a group that he could go with to break his friends out of prison, and a group that he could trust non less. Fiddlesticks spoke up, "You know we flew with your org for a while, well here is our application to join." A smile grew on Jack's face, "lets fricken do this!" They all stood up, "You have my axe…" Fiddlesticks looked over at Jaxon. "And you have my bow" The group laughed, "Lets get our families back."

They decided to some sleep and plan when they were good and rested. In the morning they met back down at the Ez Hab lobby area. They started planning the escape. As they discussed someone near by was listening, he sat there absorbing what they were saying whilst being undetected.

They finished planning, it was quite simple. They need a ship that was capable of transporting around twenty people and was decently fast and defendable. The Anvil Valkyrie fit this, with the multiple turrets and room to put a ursa it would work well. The Valkyrie will go down to the surface just outside of the permitter of Klescher and drop of the ursa with Jack and Jaxon. They would drive to Klescher and break in through the tunnels and caves. Jack and Jaxon had both broken out of Klescher, but neither of them had broken into it, and unfortunately there was no way of looking up a tutorial for it. They figured that the Ursa would not be able to take all of the people back with them, so they would have to take one of the Ursas at the facility.

March 27, 2955

The Valkyrie shook as it concluded its quantum jump to Klescher Rehabilitation Facility. Being about thirty kilometers out from the facility it protected them from being shot down by the anti-air defenses. The plan was they would drop the Ursa out the back of the Valkyrie and Fiddlesticks would fly the Valkyrie to the nearest orbital marker. Jack looked over at Jaxon who was prepping his passenger seat in the Ursa. "Who would have thought things would have come to this. Being trapped in my favorite video game, crazy." Jack pressed the button to start the Ursa and it roared to life. Fiddlesticks addressed the two over their radio channel. "Touching down now boys, once the ramp is lowered, you will have the go ahead to disembark."

The ramp lowered and lifted the back end of the ship up a bit. It was go time. Jack with his little experience driving the Ursa gunned it and flew out the back. There was a bit of a rough landing once they got onto the dirt, but nothing was too badly damaged. Jack continued speeding towards the direction of the facility, he peered to his left to see behind him. The Valkyrie lifted off from the ground causing dust and rocks to fly around, this was the coolest thing Jack had ever done in his life. He felt a bit giddy, but calmed himself, he was here for a very important reason. To save his friends.

As they passed through the rough terrain Jack looked over at Jaxon, he was stressed. It was obvious due to his constant tapping of his foot on the metal floor of the Ursa. Jack spoke up, "Hey, Jaxon. What is making you nervous right now?"

There was a decent pause before Jaxon responded. He understandably trying to formulate his thoughts. "I'm nervous because my family is in Klescher, I hope they are all doing ok mentally. I was relatively new to the game before being brought here. So I can understand how someone who knows nothing is possibly feeling right now."

Jack watched anime from his world, and one genre he was always drawn to was Iseki. Basically, the premise behind it was a person was killed or transported from their world to a new world different than their original. Typically, the main character was relatively carefree and made the world into their playground. However, in Jack's opinion, this situation is different. Jack and the other people who understand this world have the responsibility to help teach and protect those who don't. Especially since new people can't respawn right now. Death is a real problem now.

As the approached the portion of Klescher where they could break in, Jack and Jaxon discussed how to break in. Jack had the previous experience of breaking out, now he just needed to do that, but in reverse. The Ursa slowly came to a stop, "Welp, we are here," Jack let out a big sigh, "Let's do this!"

Fiddlesticks sat in the pilot's seat of the Valkyrie doing air drums whilst listening to some rock music that was brought over from his world. Once the song had finished it switched to a slower soft rock, giving him time to think. He felt a little guilty because he was primarily just sitting there keeping the ship warm. He understood his job was vital, being the getaway driver and all. But he wished he could do more. Luckily Jaxon knew what Fiddlesticks' family looked like so he could bring them out of prison as well.

Fiddlesticks went to stand up to stretch his legs, when he saw something. A large group of prisoner carrier ships came out of quantum. "They are here for two potential reasons; They are bringing more people to Klescher or taking people out. If they are bringing more people, that could work in the guy's favor." Either way, the extraction would probably be extra spicy. With that thought being in play, fiddlesticks decided to prep all of the jump seats, they were expecting at least 15-20 people being brought on board. Once completed he looked out the window of the cockpit, "God speed brothers, please bring everyone back safely."

Getting into Klescher was not too difficult, navigating the caves was. Luckily for Jack and Jaxon some previous escapees left behind a few full prisoner sets. With these on they could blend amongst the other prisoners better. The caves were the most difficult part of the journey, but the other potential obstacle that would block them from being able to get in was the fan. It was a massive fan that brought in air from the surface. The one that the caves were connected to has a few broken blades. You need to slow the fan and or stop the fan jumping though and enter the cave, the potential problem was the panel and password to stop the fan was on the other side of the fan, so if they wanted to open it, they would need someone on the inside to open it. Luckily when they got to the fan it was open.

Jack and Jaxon sneaked through and made it to the interior of the prison, they were in! They didn't have much time to look around before someone yelled at them. "Get back in line scum!!!" Jack whipped his head over to see who yelled at them. It was a dude wearing Hurston Security armor, obviously it had to be a guard. A big line of people was being brought into the facility. Jaxon and Jack quickly got into the line; they shouldn't have drawn too much attention to themselves. Hopefully, that is the only time that a guard notices them.

The group was led a cafeteria area with a massive control panel hub in the middle. Jack recognized that it was the same as when he was put in jail in the game. However, this time a guy stood on top of the hub. He was the warden of the prison. He went over the basic rules of the facility, but the thing that stood out to Jack the most was the fact that he mentioned outsiders. This is how people were referring to those who didn't have an identity. "The general populous probably thinks of us as refuges, I mean, to be fair, we kind of are." As the warden finished up he seemed to be adding more swear words, all of them being the same from Earth, apparently swearing was a multiverse thing.

As the group started to disperse to explore their new home, a little nudge on the shoulder got Jack's attention. He gestured over towards the mines, "do you think the majority of our people are over in there?" In Klescher there is a mine that prisoners can work in to take extra time off their sentence.

"Yeah, most likely. I was thinking, I don't know what your family looks like, so I was thinking that you start here and look around. I will go through mine and look for my people. Meet back here in two hours?"

Jaxon shook his head, "If I can't find them should I also head into the mines?"

"Normally I would say yes, but since you haven't been in Klescher before I would like to basically escort you, the mines are pretty dangerous."

"I understand, see you in a few hours."

Jack walked away towards the mines, his heart was racing. "I hope everyone is ok!"
